Newmarket 3.50 Bet365 Bunbury Cup Class 2 Handicap over 7f

Selection – Montassib – 4 year old Gelding out of Exceed And Excel and Felwah. Has had 4 career starts winning 3 times, the wins have came at Newcastle, Wetherby and Goodwood. Was 5th on most recent start at Ascot when making move, squeezed out of room 2f out and was 1 length a short head, neck and head seperating the 1st 5 home. If showing same attitude could gain another win today, biggest danger to the selection comes in the shape of Samburu who has 3 wins from 4 starts.

.

Newmarket 5.00 Moet And Chandon Handicap Class 3 over 1m 4f

Selection – Glen Savage – 4 year old Colt out of Gleneagles and Rocksavage, has had 2 carer starts, winning once. Won on debut at Newbury on the 18th April 2021 when beating Title by a short head. Was 4th of 9 at Doncaster on the 3rd of June. If reproducing that here can gain another victory, biggest danger to the selection comes in the shape of Commonsensical who has 2 wins and a 2nd from last 3 starts.

2:40 – Class 2 Mile Handicap

Selection: Laasudood

This looks to be an informative little eight runner 3yo handicap over a mile. Laasudood is one of the less unexposed runners and his form has to be taken seriously, so he just gets the nod for me here. Successful on his second attempt as a juvenile at Kempton, Laasudood has trained on as a 3yo and brings in a smart piece of form from his first start as a 3yo. That came in a Nottingham novice where he was beaten just over a length by subsequent King George V Handicap winner Secret State. He improved a bit more to win a class 3 handicap at Doncaster last time out in smooth fashion. The booking of Cristophe Soumilion today catches the eye and he must have a big say on ground he has winning form on. More improvement is seemingly likely too…

York –

4:05 – John Smith’s Cup (Handicap)

Selection: Intellogent

Intellogent went into my notebook after a superb run at Royal Ascot when he was second in the Hunt Cup to Dark Shift. After an injury interrupted 2021, Intellogent has returned to the track in 2022 in great form, running well on his three starts and unlucky not to win one. A reproduction of that Hunt Cup run puts him in with a solid chance of making the frame at least. The step up in trip is an obvious question mark but I think he will get it judging by how he’s been hitting the line in his races. He’s due to go up 4lb after today too. Good to firm ground is ideal conditions and with a bit of luck he shouldn’t be far away. Shop around for the best prices.

he was stepped up in trip to 1m at Newmarket on April 30th in the Group 1 2,000 Guineas.
The Ardad colt finished a 6 & 1/2 length 7th to Coroebus & was never really in the race.
