Hello and welcome to arseonlinetips. A 100% independent and affiliate link free website, which is curated by 2 racing enthusiast from either end of the British Isles. Charlie hails from Glasgow, while Rich is from the Isle of Wight… Miles apart but united by the sport of kings!
Despite our lack of blog posts, mainly due to us being busy and spending time with our families, we have still been keeping a firm eye on what has been going on in the world of racing…
The recent withdrawal of runners from Lingfield today, due to a row with ARC about the level of prize money in certain class races, has caught the eye, with owners & trainers taking a stand against the ARC owned tracks. All they want is a level playing field and for the prize money to be worth running their horses but it seems the level of the prize has dropped instead of rising as ARC seem to be preparing for the drop in FOBT revenue. Hopefully this can be resolved quickly…..
Back to today… Charlie will have his Saturday selections while Rich will have the Final Word from Kempton & Lingfield….

Modus 🌟🌟-Although at 9yrs old Modus has been a very nice horse for Paul Nichols in the past, he won at Cheltenham over 2m back in October last year, was a poor 10th at Ascot next time out over 2m 1f in November before being sent to Doncaster in January and finishing 3rd over 2m. If he handles the extra distance here could be overpriced at 12-1 and may be worth a small Eachway play.
Eachway Advised
.
Wicked Willy 🌟🌟-Has been consistent over hurdles and fences and has finished 3rd in last 3 runs over the smaller obstacles including – finishing 3rd over 3m at Cheltenham in December in a Class 2 Handicap Hurdle. Was then sent to Wincanton in January and was 3rd again over 2m 5f in a Class 3 Handicap Hurdle. Most recent run came at Huntingdon in January over 3m 1f in another Class 2 Handicap Hurdle finishing 3rd behind Not Many left. Drops back down in distance to 2m 7f and 131y today and that could help him get a well deserved win.

Alpha Des Obeaux 🌟🌟-Won a Chase at Thurles over 2m 6f back in November, was rested until January and was sent to Tramore and finished 4th In another Chase over 2m 5f. Was then sent to Gowran Park In January when stepping up in distance to 3m 1f and finished 2nd to invitation only in a Handicap Chase. Has been consistent in last few races and should go one better today.

Final Word with Rich –
Thanks Charlie, I have my thoughts for you today from Lingfield & Kempton. It has been a bit of a dry spell for me personally and I hope that will be long gone come Cheltenham, starting with today…
Lingfield… All Weather… Standard..
2.05 Hever Sprint Stakes… Class 1 Listed… 5f 6yds…
Encore D’or….. The 3 time course & distance winner has only finished once out of the top 3 when running here over 5f from 7 runs. The Top rated runner at 109 was a recent winner at Newcastle, in a Class 2 Handicap when beating Ornate by a neck on January 22nd, which was his first run in 95 days. His previous form saw Encore winning twice from 3 5f runs between September & October, when he finished runner up in a Dundalk Group 3 to Hit The bid by 1/2 a length….
3.15 Winter Derby… Group 3…. 1m 2f…
Wissahickon… The 1/3 favourite and Top rated at 109 has been in sparkling form, winning his last 2 runs over course & distance, both wins beating Big Country, who finished runner up on both occasions. The last time was on February 2nd by 3/4’s of a length…
But with only 7 runners declared and only one other place for each way punters the only danger I can see to Wissahickon is Hathal, who has won the last 2 runs, both at Wolverhampton and beat Oh This Is Us last time out by 1 & 1/2 lengths over 1m 104yds in a Class 2 handicap….
3.50… Handicap… Class 2… 1m 1yd..
Oh This is Us… The top rated 110 runner was runner up on return from a break. His previous run was in a Group 2 at Chantilly in October, when finishing runner up. Having returned at Wolverhampton & again filled the runner’s up spot beaten over 1m 104yds to Hathal…
The danger to this selection could come from 4 time course & distance winner Goring, who just like Oh This Is Us finished runner up to Hathal over 1m 1f 104yds in a Class 2 handicap at Wolves & as noted, the winner won again. He was also only beaten 2 & 3/4 lengths by Wissahickon over 1m 2f in a Class 1 Listed back in December….
And now we take a look at the National Hunt card at Kempton…
Kempton… Good…
3.00… Dovecote Novice Hurdle… Grade 2… 2m…
With Angels Breath likely to go off at around 10/11 for a nice horse that has just had one UK start, when winning the Grade 2 Supreme Trial by 4 & 1/2 lengths to Danny Kerwin on December 21st..
So with that in mind, I like the chances of Southfield Stone.. Having won a 2m bumper(NHF) back in November, the progression has been tidy. Winning the first 2 starts over hurdles, both wins at Taunton before finishing a 3 & 3/4 length 3rd to Elixir De Nutz in the Grade 1 Tolworth before finishing runner up when back in Class 4 novice hurdle company by 1 & 1/4 lengths, when running under a double penalty on February 4th….
3.35… Handicap Chase… Grade 3… 3m…
Glen Rocco…. Has 2 wins from 5 chase starts having made the switch from hurdles in November. Finished runner up to Glen Fossa on Boxing day at this course, who has gone on to win the Grade 2 Kingmaker at Sandown. Rocco was a last time out winner on January 12th, with a 23 length Class 2 handicap chase win over course & distance….
4.10… Handicap Chase… Class 3… 2m 4f 110yds…
Another Crick… Having placed 2nd on the first 2 chase starts, when beaten 1/2 a length on November 7th in a C3 novice 2m chase and then on December 4th, when again runner up by 1/2 a length in a 1m 7f C3 novice handicap chase to Destrier, with the winner along with Doc Carver(3rd) and Castaflore(4th) all winning since. Another Crick finally won at Newbury on December 29th, when landing a C3 novice handicap chase over 2m by 3 & 1/4 lengths & now steps up in trip…..
That is everything for you today folks… Big thanks to Rossa Ryan for the Interview last weekend & be sure to keep your eyes peeled for another BIG Interview tomorrow…
Thanks for popping by folks, we really appreciate your support…
All the best – Charlie & Rich
