As the sun goes down on what’s been an amazing 5 days of racing at Royal Ascot, we take a look back at some of the highlights over the 5 days.

The first race on Day 1 was the Buckingham Palace Handicap Class 2 over 7f. The race was won by Jim Crowley on board Motakhayyel for trainer Richard Hannon, with Jack’s Point taking 2nd and Mutamaasik who was tipped by Jamie further back in 3rd.

Race 2 was the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes over 1m. The race was won by the Aidan O’Brien trained Circus Maximus with Ryan Moore on board tipped by Rich with Charlie’s first selection Trebelleum who is trained by John Gosden and was ridden by Frankie Dettori finishing an unlucky 2nd by a head. In 3rd place was Marie’s Diamond trained by Mark Johnson and ridden by Joe Fanning a further 3 lengths adrift.

Race 3 was the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes over 1m 3f and 211y. This race was won by Frankly Darling trained by John Gosden with Frankie Dettori doing the steering again. Ennistymon trained by Aidan O’Brien with James Doyle on board settled for 2nd with stable companion Passion with Ryan Moore in 3rd. Rich’s selection Miss Yoda finished 6th.

Race 4 was the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes over 1m 3f and 211y. This race was won by Pyledriver trained by William Muir with Martin Dwyer doing the steering. Arthur’s Kingdom trained by Aidan O’Brien with Frankie Dettori on board finished 2 lengths behind in 2nd. A further 2 lengths back was Mohican Heights trained by David Simcock and ridden by Andrea Atzeni.

Race 5 was the Group 1 Kings Stand Stakes over 5f. This race was won by Battash trained by Charlie Hills with Jim Crowley on board and was Jamie’s selection. In 2nd place some 2 and 1/4 lengths further back was Equilateral who was trained by Charlie Hills with James Doyle on board. Liberty Beach trained by John Quinn and ridden by Jason Hart a short head behind in 3rd place and was selected by Rich.

Race 6 was the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes over 1m. This race was won by Nazeef trained by John Gosden and ridden by Jim Crowley and was tipped by Charlie. Agincourt trained by David O’meara and ridden by Daniel Tudhope going down by a head, with Queen Power trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Silvestre De Sousa a further 2 and 1/2 lengths behind in 3rd. Jamie’s selection Jubiloso was Unplaced.

Race 7 and the final race on the card was the Class 2 Ascot Stakes a handicap ran over 2m 3f and 210y. This race was won by Coeur De Lion trained by Alan King and ridden by Thore Hammer Hansen, holding off Verdana Blue trained by Nicky Henderson and ridden by Ryan Moore in 2nd and was Charlie’s final selection of day 1. In 3rd place was Summer Moon trained by Mark Johnson with Joe Fanning doing the steering.

Day 2

The opening race of day 2 was the Class 2 Silver Royal Cup Handicap over 1m. The race was won by Sir Busker trained by William Knight and ridden by Oisin Murphy, Salayel trained by Roger Varian and ridden by Andrea Atzeni finished 3/4 of length behind in 2nd and was Rich’s selection, with Alternative Fact trained by Ed Dunlop and ridden by Frankie Dettori a further length back in 3rd. Jamie’s selection Brian Epstein was unplaced.

Race 2 was the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes over 1m 1f and 12y. The race was won by Russian Emperor trained by Aidan O’Brien with Ryan Moore on board and was selected by Rich. In 2nd place was First Reciever trained by Sir Michael Stoute who was ridden by Frankie Dettori. Berlin Tango trained by Andrew Balding and ridden by Oisin Murphy 2 and 1/4 lengths further back in 3rd. Jamie’s selection Juan Elcano finished 4th.

Race 3 was the King George V Stakes Class 2 handicap over 1m 3f and 211y. This race was won by Hukum trained by Owen Burrows and ridden by Jim Crowley, Kipps finished a 1/2 length 2nd trained by Hughie Morrison and ridden by David Probert. Further back in 3rd was Subjectivist trained by Mark Johnson and ridden by Ryan Moore. Charlie’s selection Bright Melody was unplaced.

Race 4 was the Group 1 Prince of Wales Stakes over 1m 1f and 212y. This race was won by Lord North trained by John Gosden with James Doyle on board. In 2nd place some 3 and 3/4 lengths further back was Addeyebb, trained by William Haggas with Tom Marquand doing the steering and was Charlie’s selection. Rich and Jamie both picked Japan who finished 4th.

Race 5 was the Class 2 Royal Hunt Cup handicap over 1m. This race was won by Dark Vision trained by Mark Johnson with William Buick doing the steering. In second place some 1 and 1/4 lengths behind was Montatham trained by William Haggas with Dane O’Neil doing the steering. In 3rd place was Pogo trained by Charlie Hills with Kieran Shoemark.

Race 6 was the Windsor Castle Stakes a Listed race over 5f. This race was won by Tactical trained by Andrew Balding with James Doyle doing the steering. Yazaman was 1 and 1/4 lengths behind in 2nd trained by William Haggas and ridden by Tom Marquand. Muker was a further short head behind in 3rd trained by Phillip Makin and ridden by Paul Mulrennan. Charlie’s selection Mighty Ghurka was 5th.

Race 7 and the penultimate race of day 2, was the Copper Horse handicap over 1m 6f and 34y. This race was won by Fujaira Prince trained by Roger Varian and ridden by Andrea Atzeni. In 2nd place some 3 and 3/4 lengths further back was Selino trained by James Fanshaw and ridden by Oisin Murphy. In 3rd place was Almania trained by David Simcock and ridden by Jim Crowley.

Day 3

The opening race of day 3 was the Golden Gates handicap a Class 2 over 1m 1f and 212y. This race was won by Highland Chief trained by Paul and Oliver Cole and ridden by Rossa Ryan, who is one of our rising stars series. In 2nd was Tritonic trained by Alan King and ridden by Oisin Murphy. In 3rd some 3 and 1/4 lengths behind those two was Global Storm trained by Charlie Appelby and ridden by William Buick.

Race 2 was the Wolferton Stakes a class 1 listed race over 1m 1f 212y. This race was won by Mountain Angel trained by Roger Varian with James Doyle doing the steering, in second place some 2 and 1/4 lengths behind was Sir Dragonet trained by Aidan O’Brien with Ryan Moore doing the steering, in 3rd place a further 1/2 length adrift was Regal Reality trained by Sir Michael Stoute with Jim Crowley doing the steering. Jamie’s selection Fox Tal was unplaced.

Race 3 was the Group 3 Jersey Stakes over 7f. This race was won by Molatham trained by Roger Varian with Jim Crowley doing the steering and was selected by Rich . In 2nd place was Monarch of Egypt trained by Aidan O’Brien with Ryan Moore on board who was a 1/2 length behind the winner and was also Jamie’s selection . Third place was filled by Symbolize trained by Andrew Balding with David Probert doing the steering.

Race 4 was the Chesham Stakes a Class 1 Listed race over 7f. This race was won by Battleground trained by Aidan O’Brien with Ryan Moore on board. In 2nd place some 2 and 1/2 lengths behind was the Mark Johnson trained March Law with Silvestre De Sousa doing the steering, further back in 3rd place was Seattle Rock trained by Sylvester Kirk with David Egan on board. Charlie’s selection Modern News was 5th.

Race 5 was the Ascot Gold Cup a Group 1 race over 2m 3f and 210y. This race was won by Stradivarius who claimed his 3rd Gold Cup, trained by John Gosden and ridden by Frankie Dettori. In 2nd place some 10 lengths behind was Nayef Road trained by Mark Johnson and ridden by Ryan Moore and was an eachway selection for Jamie. In 3rd place some 8 lengths further back was Cross Counter trained by Charlie Appelby with James Doyle doing the steering.

Race 6 was the Brittania Stakes a Class 2 handicap for Colts & Geldings over 1m. This race was won by Khaloosy trained by Roger Varian with Jim Crowley on board, a further 4 and 1/2 lengths back was Finest Sound trained by Simon & Ed Crisford with Andrea Atzeni doing the steering. In 3rd place was Cherokee Trail trained by John Gosden with Ryan Moore on board. Rich’s selection Path Of Thunder was unplaced.

Race 7 and the final race of day 3 was the Sandringham Stakes a Class 2 handicap over 1m. This race was won by Onassis trained by Charlie Fellows with Hayley Turner doing the steering, a length and 1/4 further back in 2nd place was Waliyak trained by Roger Varian with David Egan on board. A further 1/2 length behind was Dubai Love trained by Saeed Bin Suroor with Frankie Dettori doing the steering. Charlie’s selection African Dream was pulled up lame and Rich’s selection Soffika was unplaced.

Day 4

Race 1 on Day 4 was the Class 2 Palace of Holyroodhouse handicap over 5f. This race was won by Art Power trained by Tim Easterby with Silvestre De Sousa in the plate. Some 3 and 1/2 lengths further back In 2nd place was Keep Busy trained by John Quin with Cieren Fallon taking the ride. Dancing In The Street was a neck further behind in 3rd trained by William Haggas with J F Egan taking the reigns.

Race 2 was the Group 3 Albany Stakes over 6f. This race was won by Dandalla trained by Karl Burke with Ben Curtis in the saddle. A further 6 lengths behind in 2nd place was Setarthe trained by Roger Varian with Andrea Atzeni taking the reigns. A neck behind in 3rd place was Mother Earth trained by Aidan O’Brien with Ryan Moore in the plate. Charlie’s selection Golden Melody was 7th.

Race 3 was the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes over 5f. This race was won by The Lir Jet trained by Michael Bell with Oisin Murphy doing the steering and was Jamie’s selection. Beaten a neck in 2nd place was Golden Pal trained by Wesley Ward with Andrea Atzeni in the saddle. In 3rd place was Imperial Force trained by Andrew Balding with James Doyle taking the ride. Charlie’s Selection Eye Of Heaven was unplaced.

Race 4 was the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes over 1m 3f and 211y. This race was won by Fanny Logan trained by John Gosden with Frankie Dettori in the saddle. A further 2 and 1/2 lengths further back was Alounak trained by Andrew Balding with Oisin Murphy taking the ride. Defoe was 3rd some 1 and 3/4 of a length further adrift trained by Roger Varian with Andrea Atzeni taking the reigns. Charlie’s selection Elarqam and Rich’s selection Anthony Van Dyke were both unplaced.

Race 5 was the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup over 6f for Colts and Fillies. This race was won by Golden Horde trained by Clive Cox and ridden by Andrea Atzeni. A length and 1/2 further behind in 2nd was Kimari trained by Wesley Ward with Frankie Dettori taking the ride. A further 2 and 1/2 lengths further back was Ventura Rebel trained by Richard Fahey with Tony Hamilton in the saddle. Both Rich and Jamie selected Piere Lapin who was unplaced.

Race 6 was the Group 2 Queens Vase over 1m 6f and 34y. This race was won by Santiago trained by Aidan O’Brien and partnered by Ryan Moore. In 2nd place was Berkshire Rocco trained by Andrew Balding with Oisin Murray taking the reigns. A further 8 and 1/2 lengths further back in 3rd place was Al Dabaran trained by Charlie Appelby with William Buick doing the steering.

Race 7 was the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes a Class 2 handicap over 1m 3f and 211y. This race was won by Scarlet Dragon trained by Alan King with Hollie Doyle in the saddle. A 1/2 length behind in 2nd was Deja trained by Peter Chappel-Hyam with Andrea Atzeni taking the reigns. Third place was filled by the Mark Johnson trained Westend Charmer who was 1 and 1/2 lengths behind and was partenered by William Buick.

Day 5

The opening race on the final day of Royal Ascot was the Class 2 Silver Wokingham Handicap over 6f. This race was won by Chiefofchiefs trained by Charlie Fellows with William Buick in the plate. A further length and 1/4 further back in 2nd was Burmese Waltz trained by Archie Watson and ridden by Daniel Tudhope. A head behind in 3rd place was Nahaarr trained by William Haggas with James Doyle on board. Rich’s selection Blue Mist was unplaced.

Race 2 was the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes over 5f. This race was won by Campanele trained by Wesley Ward with Frankie Dettori taking the reigns. Some 3/4 of a length behind in 2nd was Sacred trained by William Haggas with James Doyle on board. In 3rd place was Caroline Dale trained by David Loughnane who had David Egan in the saddle. Rich’s selection Pelaki was unplaced as was Charlie’s selection More Beautiful.

Race 3 was the Group 2 Coventry Stakes over 6f. This race was won by Nando Parrado trained by Clive Cox with Adam Kirby in the plate. One length behind in 2nd was Qaader trained by Mark Johnson and partnered by Jim Crowley. Another length and 1/4 further back in 3rd place was Saeiqa trained by John Gosden with Martin Dwyer on board. Rich’s selection Admiral Nelson was unplaced.

Race 4 was the Group 1 Coronation Stakes for Fillies over 7f and 213y. This race was won by Alpine Star trained by Mrs J Harrington with Frankie Dettori in the plate. In 2nd place some 4 and 1/4 lengths back was Sharing trained by H Graham Motion with Oisin Murphy taking the reigns. A further 1 and 3/4 of a length behind in 3rd place was Quadrilateral trained by Roger Charlton with Jason Watson doing the steering and was Rich’s selection.

Race 5 was the Group 1 St James’ Palace Stakes for Colts over 7f 213y. This race was won by Palace Pier trained by John Gosden with Frankie Dettori in the plate. A length behind in 2nd place was Pinatubo trained by Charlie Appelby with William Buick in the saddle. In 3rd place beaten just a head was Jamie’s selection Wichita trained by Aidan O’Brien with Ryan Moore on board.

Race 6 was the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes over 6f. This race was won by Jamie’s Nap, Hello Youmzain trained by Kevin Ryan with Kevin Stott in the plate. Beaten a head into 2nd place was Dream Of Dreams trained by Sir Michael Stoute with Ryan Moore taking the reigns. A neck further back in 3rd place was Sceptical trained by Denis Gerard Hogan with Frankie Dettori on board. Charlie’s selection The Tin Man was unplaced.

Race 7   was the Class 2 Wokingham Stakes over 6f. This race was won by Hey Jonesy trained by Kevin Ryan with Kevin Stott in the plate. A nose behind in 2nd place was Summerghand trained by David O’meara with James Doyle in the saddle. A length further back in 3rd place was Spanish City trained by Roger Varian with Andrea Atzeni in the saddle. Jamie’s selection Angel Alexander was unplaced.

Race 8 and the final race of Royal Ascot 2020 was the Class 2 Queen Alexandre Stakes over 2m 5f and 143y. This race was won by Who Dares Wins trained by Alan King with Tom Marquand in the plate and was Charlie’s selection. A neck behind in 2nd place was The Grand Visor trained by Ian Williams with Richard Kingscote in the saddle. A further 2 and 1/4 lengths behind in 3rd was Mukha Magic trained by Gay Kelleway with Ben Curtis in the saddle.
