Across The Sea -Won last time out at Ffos Las over 5f, has been raised 7lb for that win and although looked to have a bit in hand when beating Elsaabiqaat by 2 and 1/2 length in that race. May still be progressive enough to get involved here with another bold display anticipated.

Win Advised

.

Athassel -Was 2nd here last time out over 7f, and this previous 5 time course winner drops in trip again to 6f and 20y for today’s race. If in the same mood as last time could be the answer in this winnable race.

Win Advised

.

Placebo Effect -Has been a bit erratic form wise this season, was 3rd at Beverley over 7f in April, before posting two poor efforts at Carlisle when finishing 6th and at Beverley when finishing 9th both over 7f. Although did fair better at Beverley last time out over 1m when finishing 4th. If repeating that here that should be enough to take this race.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for The Final Word.

.

Rich’s Final Word –

Cheers Charlie… Wednesday was nice for this column, with both notes from Chelmsford winning and I also think it was a reasonable debut from Rags and Riches, definitely one to note for the future despite not finishing in the top 3…

That was then & this is now, so I have two from Sandown & a couple in one race at Newcastle!

So let’s crack on and start with Sandown.… A couple of Maiden’s

2.40 Maiden Class 5 2YO Only 7f…. Alrajaa is a Dubawi colt for John Gosden, who was a 3 & 1/4 length 4th on race course debut on July 6th over C/D in a C4 novice stakes. The race winner Arctic Sound & 3rd Tal Fox have both since won. Jim Crowley takes the mount…

3.15 Maiden Class 5 2YO Only 7f…. Almania was mentioned in this column on race course debut back on July 27th(Check if you wish!) Australia colt out of a Group 3 winning Dam finished 4th on debut over 6f at Ascot in a C2 maiden by 3 & 1/2 lengths. Now up an extra furlong with Ryan Moore in the plate for Sir Michael Stoute…..

Newcastle(AW) …..

6.45 Novice Stakes Class 5 1m 2f 42y… The battle of the two Frankel colts…..

Formula One…. Who was runner up on race course debut over C/D in July before landing a Ffos Las C5 1m 4f novice stakes by 1 & 3/4 lengths on August 14th, with an eye catching performance….

Midi …. Has had wind surgery after a disappointing race course debut last September . Won on a belated season return by 1 & 3/4 lengths over 1m 2f at Windsor on August 20th. This is his second run after surgery…..

Who will win? Will either win??

That is all for today folks, thanks for pooping by…….

Meshardal -Previous 4 time course and distance winner, who has slipped to an attractive mark after cranking up a 17 race losing streak. Has finished 4th and 5th on numerous occasions this season hence why the handicapper has eased it’s rating, normal cheekpieces are replaced by first time blinkers today and even though has a wide draw to contend with has been eased by a further 1lb for today’s race and could get involved if blinkers do the trick here.

Win Advised

.

Sharp Reply -Has shown signs of promise in spurts this season without winning, was 2nd at Carlisle over 1m 1f in June this year, as a result has slipped down the handicap and now gets cheekpieces for the first time and that could spark some improvement.

Win Advised

.

Thepensionfund -Had a pretty good run on debut at Ayr over 2m on heavy going back in January this year finishing 3rd, makes hurdles debut and wouldn’t need to improve much to get off the mark here in a very winnable race.

Win Advised

.

Rich’s Final Word –

Cheers Charlie, it was another good day in this section with 3 from 4 winners were mentioned here yesterday, so the break hasn’t affected my form!

3 for you again today…..

Catterick…

3.00 Fillies’ Novice Stakes Class 5 7f….

Rags and Riches is making her race course debut for Karl Burke. The Wootton Bassett filly is half sister to 6f winner Bonny and Clyde. Ben Curtis is charged with looking after the filly….

Kempton(AW) …..

5.55 Fillies’ Novice Stakes Class 5 2YO Only 1m….

Sweet Pearl was a 3 length runner up on race course debut in a C5 1m 75y Nottingham novice stakes on August 14th. With 3rd from the race since winning, a big run is expected…

6.55 Novice Stakes Class 5 7f…

Maaward was a runner up on debut over 1m at this course in October before making a winning seasonal return over 1m at this course by 6 lengths. Drops to 7f and down in class….

That is your lot today folks….. Thanks for popping by!

Camomile Lawn – Non runner No replacement

.

Optimum Time -Has won twice in last 3 starts over 1m, takes a drop in class here today and although carries a penalty for winning at Windsor on Saturday. Is in decent form and although has done most of its winning at Windsor a chance I’d taken that today is the day that changes.

Win Advised

.

No No Cardinal -Has placed in last 3 runs at Newton Abbot all over 2m. Although hasn’t won for some time form suggests it’s only a matter of time before it returns to the winners enclosure. Main threat could come in the shape of Peppay Le Pugh who has finished 2nd in last 5 starts but at 5-6 at time of writing isn’t a price is be happy to take.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

.

Rich’s Final Word –

Cheers Charlie, it’s good to be back & hopefully in the same form as Saturday when we landed a nice few winners and a 10/1 3rd….

Let’s start in Ripon, head to Epsom before finishing on the All Weather at Chelmsford..

Ripon … 1.55 Fillies’ Novice Stakes Class 5 2YO Only 5f….

Golden Circle is a Kingman Filly, who was a 1/2 length runner up on racecourse debut in a Thirsk 5f novice stakes. 1 & 3/4 lengths clear of 3rd & should come on for the run.

Epsom…. 3.15 Handicap Class 3 5f 3y

Desert Frost is yet to win this term although has been running well in defeat with form figures of 2/3/3/2/2 and is due to get a win soon. Beaten 1/2 a length last time out in June in a 6f C4 handicap at Ayr and now drops back to 5f with Rossa Ryan taking off 3….

Chelmsford(AW)….

5.50 Novice Stakes Class 5 6f…

Field Gun was a 1 & 3/4 length runner up on race course debut over 6f at Doncaster on August 18th. James Doyle takes the plate for trainer William Haggas.

6.50 Fillies’ Novice Stakes Class 5 1m…

Dolcissimo was a runner up on 3 runs on the All Weather and was beaten 1 & 1/4 lengths over C/D on July 24th before heading to Wolverhampton on August 3rd. Beaten by a neck over 1m 142y. Rab Havlin is in the saddle for trainer John Gosden.

That is your lot folks…. Thanks for popping by!

Spanking Saturday

Goodwood

Hello and welcome to arseonlinetips, today we present Spanking Saturday…. This site is brought to you by two racing enthusiast’s from either end of the British Isles. Charlie hails from Glasgow, while Rich is from the Isle of Wight….

This is a standard racing blog…. Charlie will bring his Saturday Selections while Rich will have the Final Word….

Charlie – Cheers Rich it was nice to land a couple of nice winners yesterday, badly needed it to be honest especially after leaving out a 12-1 and a 9-1 winner on the first day of York, these things happen and yesterday’s 6-1 and 9-2 winners helped ease the pain of my earlier mistake, anyway enough of me rambling on let’s get down to Business with Saturday’s Selections.

2018-08-24-22-45-20

Making Miracles -Has been a bit of a revelation this year with sound performances at York, Leicester, Haydock and Goodwood. The only blip came in a Class 2 race at Ascot over 1m 4f. Had won at Haydock over 1m 6f in a Class 2 handicap two starts back, most recently was 3rd at Goodwood over 1m 4f in a Class 2 handicap on the 18th August. Returns to York today to try and over throw the short head defeat suffered when last here in May, although is 8lbs higher still looks dangerous and yard are flying at the moment with trainer M Johnston winning the Crown of most successful flat Trainer in the UK.

Win Advised

.

Look Around -Has only had the 3 runs was 6th on debut at Doncaster over 7f in a Class 5 race, was then sent to Kempton to race in another Class 5 over 7f and won beating Nina Petrova by 1 length. Was then sent to Sandown and won a Class 1 listed race over 7f beating Ajrar by 1 and 1/4 length. Has a wide draw to contend with today but had shown enough in last two races to suggest that shouldn’t be a problem and I fully expect Look Around to return to the winners enclosure today.

Win Advised

.

Alfarris -Has 3 wins a 2nd and a 4th from last 5 starts and sets a high bar here. Has been raised 6lb and has a wide draw to contend with but given the turn of foot shown in previous races that shouldn’t be an issue here and is taken to go in again and could be a group horse in time.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you over to Rich for the Final Word.

.

Rich’s Final Word –

Cheers Charlie, another good day on site with Charlie’s pair of winners this section had a winner, 10/1 3rd place & two 14/1 runner up spots…. Let’s see what we have today….

Goodwood & York from me today…. We will start at Goodwood…

1.30 Fillies’ Novice Stakes Class 4 2YO Only 6f …..

Emerald Approach was a runner up on debut by 1 length despite not getting a clear run. The winner Gallovie has since placed 3rd to Red Balloons in a York C2 on Thursday and the New Approach filly receives 12Lb from More Than Likely and 6Lb from Jungle Juice….

2.05 Celebration Mile Group 2 1m…..

Stormy Antarctic was a winner on seasonal return in France before finishing a 2 & 3/4 length runner up to Addeybb in the Mile at Sandown. Has since won & placed at Baden-Baden in Germany and form for this reads 1/2/1/2/1/2….

2.40 Prestige Stakes Fillies’ Group 3 2YO Only 7f…..

Look Around won on second start after finishing 6th on debut at Doncaster. The win was on the All Weather at Kempton in a C5 fillies’ novice stakes, landing the odds by 1 length before heading to Sandown last time out to win a class 1 Listed 7f event on July 26th by 1 & 3/4 lengths. That form has been boosted with the winner & 3rd both running well in a Group 3 and it is hoped the Kingman filly can notch her 3rd win on the trot….

York…..

1.50 Strensall Stakes Group 3 1m 177y

Lord Glitters was a 2 length 3rd to Lightning Spear in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood last time out after finishing runner up to Beat the Bank by a neck in the Summer Mile at Ascot(G2) and runner up to Accidental Agent in the Queen Anne also at Ascot… Drops in Grade!

3.00 City of York Stakes Group 3 7f…..

Expert Eye… Just like Lord Glitters is a Grade dropper as was the meat in the sandwich between Lightning Spear and Lord Glitters in 2nd in the Sussex Stakes, having won the G3 Jersey Stakes at Ascot in June….

That is your lot folks and we really hope we give Saturday a right good spanking!

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Fantastic Friday!

York Race Track

Blimey are we still here without a day away! You cannot keep us down that is for sure… Welcome folks, I am sure you know the score by now… 2 racing enthusiasts run arseonlinetips…. Charlie from Glasgow, Rich from the Isle of Wight. Today we present to you …… Fantastic Friday!

A standard racing blog…. Charlie has his Friday Threesome and Rich will have the Final Word… So, let’s head to the track and see if we have got the all in the stalls….

Charlie –

Charlie's selections 24/08/18

Gateway -Has only had 3 starts and has shown improvement with each run, first run was in a Class 5 at Bath over 1m on 11th July and finished 2nd some 7 lengths behind Watheeqa. Next run was at Lingfield and although finished 3rd over 1m 1y was less than 3 lengths behind the winner. More recently was 1st at Ayr over 7f 50y with Duquesa Beach some 2 and 1/2 lengths behind in 2nd. This suggests that the horse is progressing and should go in again today if in the same mood.

Win Advised

.

National Wealth -Has been pretty consistent in Maiden’s of late without winning, finished 4th on debut at Roscommon back on the 11th June and although was 4th was less than 4 length behind the winner Lethal Power. Next race was at The Curragh on the 29th June when finishing 3rd, some 1 and 1/2 length behind Dermot Welds Kisanga. Next race was at Ballinrobe when finishing a 3 and 1/4 length 2nd to another Dermot Weld horse Mutaabeq. Next on the agenda was a trip to Galway and finished  2nd by a head, although not to Dermot Weld this time was one of Willie Mullins horses in Diamond Hill. Latest run was at Leopardstown when finishing 3rd to Dermot Welds Centroid who won by 2 lengths. If repeating the run shown at Galway 2 starts back that should be enough to take this race and break maiden at the 6th attempt.

Win Advised

.

Zwayyan -Had won 4 times for W Haggas before switching yards now with Andrew Balding, last victory came in October last year at Ascot, has ran 5 times since then and only placed twice. Was 2nd at Nottingham in May over  1m 75y in a Class 2 race. More recently was 3rd at Ascot over 7f 213y in another Class 2 race. If repeating that here should be enough to take this race if handling the switch to all weather surface.

Win A

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you over to Rich for the Final Word.

.

Rich’s Final Word –

Congratulations to Mark Johnston, who yesterday surpassed Richard Hannon Snr to become the most successful trainer in Great Britain, yes I said successful, not Winningmost… That word hails from America & has been used to describe Mark’s feat. We are in Great Britain not America, if they wish to use then let them, please do not let that word anywhere near the UK! Rant over!

York again  for me…. Yesterday was great…. I mentioned 4 in the Yorkshire Oaks and blimey, with Sea of Class, Coronet & DANGER Ezira filling the first 3 places! Then we had an exceptional performance from Lah Ti Dah to land the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes…..

What do I have for you today???

2.25 Lonsdale Cup Group 2 2m 56y…..

Stradivarius is looking to make it 4 from 4 this season and John Gosden’s Sea the Stars colt has on outstanding chance. Having started with a 3 length win on seasonal return in May when landing the Yorkshire Cup(G2) at this course before heading to Ascot in June, where he landed the Gold Cup(G1 2m 5f) from Vazirabad. Goodwood was the next venue on July 31st when taking the Goodwood Cup(G1) over 2m to beat Torcedor…

Will he have it his own way???

Idaho was a 6 & 1/2 length 3rd at Goodwood on first try over this distance and could get a touch closer while Red Verdon is stepping up in trip and is likely to give it his best shot!

3.00 Gimcrack Stakes Group 2 2YO Only 6f…..

Legends of War is a Scat Daddy colt I mentioned on his debut in this section when he won by 4 lengths at Yarmouth. He was rather thrown in at the deep end in a Newmarket Group 1 when finishing a 7 length 6th to Advertise. Back on track when landing a Class 4 6f at Newbury last time out by a head and will appreciate this track and has a little bit more experience…..

The Rest….. Space Traveller is 2 from 2 this season and is likely to be very good for the future and Irish Rover, who was a 1 length 3rd to Advertise in Ireland last time out and has the best form in the race!

3.35 Nunthorpe Stakes Group 1 5f…..

Battaash is the red hot favourite who was a 5 & 1/4 length 4th in this race to Marsha last season and is 3 wins from 4 runs since. The only defeat was in the Kings Stand to Blue Point. A 4 length winner of the King George last time out from Take Cover ….

What are the Dangers??

The obvious place to start is Blue Point, who has only run over 5f twice. Was a head runner up to Ertijaal in Meydan and then beat Battaash. Not the same when running in the July Cup at Newmarket over 6f finishing a 4 & 1/2 length 7th, so with a bit of a break and back to 5f, we could see the Blue Point from the Kings Stand …. Of the Fillies’ Mabs Cross was 3rd to the two above at Ascot and was 1 & 1/2 lengths behind Havana Grey in the Saphire Stakes at the Curragh….

One last thing before we go here’s Rich’s Trackers for today.

That’s all for today folks. Thanks for popping by….

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Thursday’s Thoughts

York Race Track

Hello and Welcome to arseonlinetips, a racing website brought to you by 2 racing enthusiast’s from either end of the British Isles, Charlie hails from Glasgow while Rich is from the Isle of Wight…. Our website is not just about a daily racing blog, as you can see….

This is a standard racing blog today, Charlie has his Thursday Thrashers and Rich will have the Final Word… So let’s get them in the stalls and under orders….

Charlie –

2018-08-23-11-01-55

Seamster -Although has been a while since Seamster was in the winners enclosure, has ran reasonably well of late without winning and has slipped to an attractive mark, takes a drop in class here and is partnered with a jock who claims 7lb in the shape of Laura Coughlan. Even though I’d prefer a more experienced jock in the saddle I feel Seamster should have enough experience to at least hit the frame here and grab a place.

Eachway Advised

.

Harmosa Vaquera -Enjoyed a couple of victorys around this time last season, made seasonal return at Brighton over 1m 4f on the 10th August and finished 5th. That was first race since December last year and should strip a lot fitter here and has Mr George Gorman in the saddle who claims 5lbs and that could be enough to swing this race in the favour of Harmosa Vaquera.

Win Advised

.

Aristocracy -Isnt renowned for being a prolific winner, but always runs his race finishing in the first 3 in all but one of his last 5 runs. Last won on the flat at this course 4yrs ago, has won over hurdles since then. Most recently was 2nd here to Timoshenko by 1 and 3/4 lengths. If repeating that here that should be enough to get involved and could cause an upset at a nice price.

Eachway Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you over to Rich for the Final Word.

.

Rich’s Final Word –

Before I get underway today, I would like to pay tribute to David Menuisier, his team and the performance of Thundering Blue. To supplement the horse for £75,000 and to finish 3rd, in front of Group 1 winning horses is nothing but unbelievable and for the Head of Handicapping  saying ‘ It casts doubt over the 4th – 6th running to their best’ is nothing short of disrespectful. The Racing Post, said & I quote ‘ the 3rd does limit the form’ David Orton wrote… Thundering Blue was 2 wins from 3 runs over C/D and won a Group 2 over C/D. David runs a small yard and recently lost another top horse, who was sold, so to place in a Group 1 race, is nothing short of a fantastic training performance and should be lauded instead of the comments from the Handicapper and the RP tabloid correspondent!

Right, now I have got that off my chest, I only looked at York, so let’s see if we can get into the winner’s enclosure!

1.55 Lowther Stakes Fillies’ Group 2 2YO Only 6f

Angel’s Hideaway is 2 wins from 5 runs this term for John Gosden’s Dark Angel filly. A 7 length runner up to Pretty Pollyana in the Duchess of Cambridge(G2) at Newmarket in July and that from is pretty decent with Pretty Pollyannna winning the Pix De Morny(G1) in Deauville on Sunday while Main Edition(7th) has won the Sweet Solera. Angel’s Hideaway won last time out on July 25th by 2 & 1/2 lengths landing the Princess Margaret at Ascot and Frankie Dettori returns to the plate.

3.00 Handicap Class 2 1m

Seniority has 3 wins from 4 starts this term, 2 on the All Weather. Won last time out at Goodwood by landing the Golden Mile by 1/2 a length and now is at a record high mark. Trainer William Haggas and Jockey Ryan Moore have a 40% SR when together and Ryan Moore has a 43% SR when riding for the Queen.

3.35 Yorkshire  Oaks Fillies and Mares’ Group 1 1m 4f

Where do I start here, ok I will be honest with you guys. I love Sea the Stars, so Sea of Class is high on my list, but I also like Laurens and Coronet & in all honesty I think these 3 will be fighting out the finish, in what order I have no idea…

Sea of Class is 3 wins from 4 runs, having landed 2 Class 1 Listed races at Newbury before a James Doyle masterclass landed the Irish Oaks by a neck….

Laurens is the 1,000 guineas runner up and has won 2 French Group 1 races going up in trip to land the Prix De Diane in June and now steps up in trip again.

Coronet is last season’s St Leger 5th behind Crystal Ocean, Stradivarius and Rekindling. Finished runner up in this race last season to Enable(But then who wasn’t behind her!) Won here on seasonal return before a runner up in a French G1 race. Ran no race at all last time out and is now back against her own sex….

The DANGER to these 3 could come from Eziyra who has won her last 3 runs and was a Group 3 winner on her seasonal return over 1m 4f!

4.15 Sir Henry Cecil Fillies’ and Mares’ Class 1 Listed 1m

I would love nothing more than seeing Frankel filly Sun Maiden win this but I think it’s unlikely and that is why I am siding with Lah Ti Dah, who is 2 from 2 this season and won a Newmarket C1 Listed 1m 2f by 3 & 1/4 lengths last time out after a winning 6 length debut…..

That is all today folks…. Thanks for your support

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

To York and Beyond

York Race Track
York Race Course

We are back…… Hello and Welcome to arseonlinetips, this website is brought to you from either end of the British Isles, Charlie hails from Glasgow, while Rich is from the Isle of Wight.

Today we present To York and Beyond….

We are back and refreshed from a few days off, Charlie has been rejigging the site and in all honesty, it looks fantastic. Everything in it’s place and a place for everything… We are more than just ‘tips’!

A standard blog for you, with Charlie’s Wednesday selection’s and Rich will always have the Final Word!

Charlie –

2018-08-22-11-07-07

Shortbackandsides -Made stable debut last time out at Leicester when short of room in closing stages but still managed to finish 3rd to Capla Demon who was 1 and 1/2 length in front, races off the same mark here and with a clearer run should go better here in a very winnable race.

Win Advised

.

Genetics -Has 3 wins and a 2nd place from last 4 runs, and although is 8lb higher for winning the Shergar Cup by 12 lengths, could still get involved here if in same mood and carries a bit of a risk but in its current form is a risk I’m willing to take.

Win Advised

.

Melody Of Scotland -Had fair form in France before joining Alan Kings yard and was 3rd on UK debut at Aintree over 2m. Was then sent to Stratford for next race and again finished 3rd over 2m. The extra yardage here is likely to suit and if repeating the run shown at Aintree when making debut that should be enough to take this race.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

.

Rich’s Final Word –

With it being York’s Ebor meeting it would be rude not to bring you my thought’s from the opening day of the meeting, so that’s all I have …. 3 from York!

Let’s start with the opening race…

1.55 Handicap Class 2 5f 89y

Culturati returned after over 400 days away at this course last month running over 7f in a C2 handicap, finishing well down the field and being found lame after. His previous from reads 1/1/1/2/2, with two 6f wins and one 7f win including a Nursery here a in 2016. Now drops back to 5f and although Charlie Appleby’s Dubawi gelding is drawn in stall 19(The carpark) but if over the last run and running anywhere near the form of 2017, with stamina assured, could very easily land a place, especially with 4 places up for grabs!

3.00 Great Voltigeur Stakes Group 2 Class 1 3YO Only1m 3f 185y

Wells Farhh Go beat James Garfield in the Acomb here last year, so is used to winning at this course. Started this season back here in the Dante(G2), finishing 6 & 3/4 lengths behind Roaring Lion before heading to Ascot and finishing 5 & 1/2 lengths to Old Persian in the King Edward VII(G2) in June. Landed the 1m 5f Group 3 Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket last month by 2 lengths from Loxley, who has since won a Longchamp Listed race. The Farhh colt has stamina on his side is likely to go from the front to try and land trainer Tim Easterby a big pot! …. CROSS COUNTER..… Group 3 Goodwood winner last time out breaking the course record!!!!!

3.35 International Stakes Group 1 Class 1 1m 2f 56y

Poets Word… Thoroughly deserves his spot at the top of the market with 3 wins from 3 runs in the UK this season. Started the year in March in Meydan, when finishing 3rd to Hawkbill in late March. Since then has landed the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown in May before taking the Prince of Wales in June from Cracksman at Ascot. Had a real battle with stable companion Crystal Ocean last month, coming out on top by a neck to land the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. James Doyle is 2 from 3 on board and 2 from 2 this season….

Where will the DANGER’s come from??? There are plenty looking to lower Poet’s Word’s colours….  Roaring Lion beat Saxon Warrior in the Eclipse at Sandown, while Benbatl had a fine spring in Meydan and recently landed a German Group 1. Latrobe is the Irish Derby winner and Thundering Blue, who is 2 wins from 3 C/D runs and most recently won the Group 2 York Stakes over C/D and was supplemented for the race…..

That is everything for you folks…. Thanks for popping by and we hope that you like what we have done with the website. If you have any feedback, please get in touch..

Rich’s Final Word –

Thanks Charlie, it was a fantastic day from both of us, this section landing a few winners, let’s hope that continues…. We are off to Deauville today….

1.35 Kerlorlay Group 2 Stakes 1m 7f…..

Marmelo was a neck runner up to the machine that is Vazirabad on seasonal return before heading to York and landing the Class 1 Listed Grand Cup by a neck from Weekender in June and then head back to France to step up in to Group 2 company at Longchamp on July 14th to take the Maur.de Nieuil by 3/4’s of a length….

2.45 Prix de Morny Group 1 Stakes 2YO Only 6f.…. Where do we start with this race as it has a bumper field, which is filled with quality that really wouldn’t be out of place at Newmarket or Ascot…. We will look at the main contenders….

Pretty Pollyanna is 2 from 3 start and landed the Duchess of Cambridge stakes at Ascot in impressive style on July 13th by 7 lengths from Angel Hideaway, who has since won the fillies’ group 3 Princess Margaret stakes and with Main Edition(7th) also landing the Group 3 Sweet Solera stakes is the obvious one to start with….

But she has to take on Signora Cabello, who since winning a Bath C4 5f fillies’ novice stakes has improved no end. She landed a York 5f C1 Listed contest in May before taking the Queen Mary(G2) at Ascot on June 20th by a short head and had no less than 8 different winners in behind that day, including Group 3 winners So Perfect & Little Kim. She headed to France to land the Robert Papin(G2) over 5 & 1/2 lengths on July 23rd from Sexy Metro by a neck.

Karl Burke sends Comedy, who has won her last 3 including a Doncaster C5 6f contest from Star Terms, who is 2 from 2 since that day and then landed a C/D Group 3 DeCabourg stakes by 2 lengths from Kodyanna on July 28th….

Of the rest….

Aidan O’Brien also has runner in Land Force, who has won 3 from 6 this season, landing the last 2 starts including a Tipperary C1 Listed by 2 lengths before  landing another Tipperary contest from Maria’s Diamond, who Mark Johnston sends over to re oppose today… e also have Sexy Metro who was 2/2 until losing to Signora by a short head and is a listed winner….

Who will Win??? Well my guess is it will be between Pretty Pollyanna, Signora Cabello & Comedy!

3.20 Jean Romanet Group 1 Stakes 1m 2f…..

Bateel was 3 wins from 5 starts and 2 runner up spots in 2017 and is a Group 1 winner after landing the Vermille 1m 4f Stakes last September. Won on seasonal return over 1m 2f at Saint-Cloud by 1 & 1/4’s lengths to pick up the Group 2 Cornida Stakes and looks on paper a ready winner…. But we have Urban Fox in the field, who was a impressive 3 & 1/4 length winner of the Pretty Polly stakes at the Curragh on July 1st and was runner up to Wild Illusion by 2 lengths at Goodwood on August 2nd, both wins over 1m 2f and it reunites the Haggas’/Doyle combination, that has been fantastic this season….

Of the rest Aidan O’Brien sends Rhododendron on a recovery mission, who has been well below par this season …. Lady Frankel was a 1& 1/2 length runner up on season return in a 1m listed race at this course and now steps up an extra 2f…. while I’m So Fancy is a duel C1 listed winner and steps up in class while Nonza has won the last 3 starts and was a Listed winner at Maisons – Laffitte  over 1m 2f and is also up in class….

So for me it is between Bateel and Urban Fox….. Bateel should win, but this is racing and we never know!

While I am at it, I would like to wish Charlie Fellowes all the best this afternoon as he send’s Crimson Rosette to try and land the Group 2 De Pomone 1m 4f Stakes at 4pm. Crimson landed the 1m 2f Chalice Stakes(C1 Listed)last time out and is now up in class & trip…. Good Luck!

Thanks for popping by folks, we really appreciate your support and we hope that everything will return to normal next week… NO INTERVIEW today due to site maintenance….Thanks for your patience

.Looks the one to beat in this race with last 5 runs reading 11112 first of those wins came at Pontefract over 1m 2f back in October 2016 in a Class 4 maiden, was absent for two years before making a winning return at Wolverhampton over 1m 4f in a Class 3 handicap in April this year. Next race was at York in a Class 2 handicap over 1m 4f in May and won again. Most recently won at Newmarket over 1m 6f In a Class 2 handicap in July beating Shraaoh by 7 lengths. Makes the move out of handicap territory here and although is considerably higher in weight, still looked progressive enough last time out to get involved and although last win came on faster ground has won on soft previously and looks the one to beat here.

.Won at Windsor in June over 6f in a Class 5 race, then was sent to Newmarket over 5f in a Class 2 handicap in June finishing 2nd. Next Race was a Class 3 handicap at Bath over 6f and finished 4th in July. Most recently won at Leicester in a Class 3 handicap over 6f beating Lady Dancealot by 2 lengths. Fitting of blinkers for last few starts has done the trick, although has a 6lb penalty for last week’s win is partnered by Jason Watson who claims a valuable 3lb and that brings Rebel Streak back into contention for today’s race.

.Has become a bit of hit around Ripon with 8 wins and two 2nds from 18 runs here. Has won last twice here in Class 3 handicaps over 6f. Has came 4th and 2nd in last two renewals of this race and is 1lb lower than when finishing 2nd in this race last year. This all points to another bold display and would be no surprise if winning again here at a nice price.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

Rich’s Final Word –

Thanks Charlie…. Wow yesterday was pretty decent… Boerhan & Waldstern are going straight in my tracker( If you have one, stick them in!) So let’s see what we have in store for what is another over loaded Saturday!

Newbury…..

1.50 Denford Stakes Class 1 Listed 2YO Only 7f…. Boltron put’s his 100% record on the line today. The La Harve colt has won both starts so far for trainer Richard Hannnon , with a nice win here over 6f on debut in July and with 2nd, 4th & 5th all since winning that form looks well boosted. Boltron then stepped up to 7f last time out to land a Doncaster class 4 novice stakes by 1 length & put’s his record on the line…. But the danger could come from Antonia De Vega, who was a Newmarket 7f winner on race course debut on July 14th by 1 & 3/4’s of a length and the runner up has won next time out to boost the form!

2.25 Geoffrey Freer Stakes Group 3 1m 5f… Hamada has won 4 on the trot for trainer Charlie Appleby and now the Cape Cross gelding steps up from landing his second class 2 handicap when a 7 length winner last time out in a Newmarket 1m 6f C2 handicap on July 13th and now tries his hand in Group company.

3.35 Hungerford Stakes Group 2 7f…… Yafta has 4 wins from 10 starts and has only finished outside the first 3 once, which was on race course debut. Won here over 6f in the Group 3 6f Hackwood Stakes by a head(After I had put it in this section for it’s previous run, but left out last time!) Now steps back up to 7f, having finished runner up by a head at this distance in a Newmarket C2 handicap on June 9th…..

Now one from Newmarket…..

3.55 Fillies’ Nursery Class 2 2YO Only 7f…. Star Terms is a cracking Sea the Syars filly, who since finishing 9th on race course debut in June, improved on second run to finish a 2 length runner up to Comedy in a Doncaster 6f C5 fillies’ novice stakes. Comedy has since won a French Group 3 and 4th place that day has also since won. Star Terms stepped up to 7f last time out on July 26th to land a Newbury 7f C4 maiden by a neck from Dutch Treat(Who won next time out as did 6th place Querelle). Now pitched in to handicap company with an opening mark of 83, which based on the form of her last two runs, could be very lenient!

Here is today’s Tracker –

.Won at Catterick in a Class 5 Auction race back in May this year over 5f, was then sent to Ascot and finished 10th in a Class 1 group 2 race over 5f in June. Was then shipped over to France for next 2 races firstly at Deauville when finishing 3rd in a Group 3 over 5f, went one better next last time out at Vichy when finishing 2nd over 5f on the 19th July. If repeating the form shown in France the last twice that could be enough to take this race but it does carry a bit of a risk and at 7-1 is  a price I’m happy to take.

.Mizzen Mast colt out of Intercontinental, is related to several winners including the useful Abseil who was rated 107, makes racecourse debut and could be a smart prospect if living up to the breeding, although being good looking on paper sometimes doesn’t transfer onto racecourse and this comes with a bit of a risk but at 8-1 is a risk that I’m willing to take.

.Was 2nd at Nottingham in May in a Class 5 Auction race over 1m. Was then 3rd at Thirsk over 1m in a Class 5 in July. Was then sent to Sandown and won a Class 3 Handicap over 1m on the 1st of August is 7lb worse off here but still looked progressive when winning at Sandown by 2 and 1/2 lengths.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for The Final Word.

Rich’s Final Word –

Yesterday yielded one winner from this section, it was disappointing that Elarqam didn’t go close, personally I think a step back up to 1m 2f and some head gear may just do the trick but what do I know! Anyway back to today’s racing….

I’m going to start at Newbury…..

1.50 Maiden Class 4 2YO Only 7f.… This is a very nice maiden with some exciting debutants running today….

Boerhan is a Sea the Stars colt who is half brother to Shamshor. Trained by William Haggas and has James Doyle on board….

Desirous is a Kingsman filly, out of Dam Mulous who won the Matron Stakes and was a 7f winner at 2YO. Trained by Ralph Becket with Harry Bentley talking the ride….

Fox Premier, has already had a run, finishing 6th on debut back on July 6th. The Frankel colt will have learned from that experience and trainer Andrew Balding will hope that Oisin Murphy will be able to steer his colt to the winners enclosure…

3.30 St Hughs Stakes Class 1 Fillies’ Listed 5f….. Shumooki won back in May at Catterick in a 5f C5 fillies’ novice stakes before being pitched in to the Queen Mary(Group2) at Ascot, despite finishing 10th of the 22 runners, she was only 2 & 3/4 lengths behind the winner. A 3rd place finish in a Deauville Group 3 5f contest followed before finishing a 1/2 length runner up in the Reves D’or in Vichy, a listed stakes race……

Newmarket …. Just one to note here….

6.30 Novice Stakes Class 4 2YO Only 1m …. Waldstern makes debut for trainer John Gosden. A sea the Stars colt, who is half brother to Waldgeist via Dam Waldlerche and has Rab Havlin in the plate

And finally…. Chelmsford(AW)…..

7.20 Handicap Class 2 5f…. Corinthia Knight…. Last 3 runs 9/9 and 4th to Kimbrella in a listed race have on been on turf and now a welcome return to the all weather. Last ran on the AW back in April at Lingfield on AW Champs day when landing the 6f All Weather Championships Class 2 by 1/2 a length. Form on AW reads 1/1/1/3/1/1/1…. That is 5 & 6f but over 5f reads 1/1/1/1……

Please note that all Debutants are mainly for tracker purposes…

That is everything for you today folks, thanks for popping by…

NO INTERVIEW this week as we will be doing maintenance on the site on Sunday….
