Well, we are at the weekend again, I would like to take this chance to wish my partner in crime, Charlie, a very happy birthday for Friday and hope we can make it a good weekend. Also please note, due to other commitments, there will be no Peoples Nap on Sunday as I am away. We would also like to say, that if anyone ever needs to talk, feel free to DM us on twitter, nobody should suffer in silence….
It’s a full on Saturday, with PN Choices, Charlie’s Saturday Selections and Final Word, so we best get cracking on…..
Peoples Nap Choices –
Cheltenham – Soft
1.15 – Novice Handicap Chase – Class 2 – 2m 4f 166y
Sizing Tennessee – I said in this blog on December 15th, if Sizing can Jump well, he can win, which he did by 6 lengths at this course over 3m. Dropped back on New Years Day, over C/D, jumping to the right and if winner Yanworth, didn’t idle in front the winning margin would have been bigger than a neck. Still plenty to come and jumping will improve – 11/4
Fairyhouse – Soft to Heavy
2.10- Handicap Chase( 0-109) – 3m 1f
Pack Your Bags – Runner up on last two starts, including over this distance at Down Royal on November 3rd, when beaten by 1 & 3/4 lengths. Runner Up again on December 9th in a Handicap Hurdle over 2m 6f at Navan. Tried in first time blinkers and has Mark Walsh on board – 15/8
Doncaster – Soft
3.50 – Handicap Chase – Class 2 – 2m 87y
BigMartre – Won on Chase debut over 2m in a Class 3 Novice Handicap at Ludlow by 3 & 1/2 lengths from Darebin in October, followed up at Newbury by 4 & 1/2 lengths, again, in a Class 3 Novice Handicap over 2m from Cyrname, who has since won a Kempton Grade 2 Chase by 7 lengths – 3/1
PN Result(Thursday) – Red Galileo – Unplaced
I will now pass you to Charlie, who will run you through his Saturday Selection’s and I will see you for Final Word…. Happy Birthday for yesterday buddy, the floor is all yours, but no disco dancing at your age! –
Cheers Rich, it was very nice to receive all the birthday wishes yesterday, not only from my blog partner Rich but the many followers who wished me well both on Twitter and Facebook,i would like to thank you guys, as it was a very nice Birthday and although Friday was a no bet day it was enjoyable all the same, it’s time to get stuck into Saturday’s races so on that note let’s kick things off with my selections listed below.
Charlie’s Selections

The Last Samuri -Although hasn’t ran at Cheltenham before, The last samuri has class to get involved here, finished 2nd in the 2016 Grand National, and has finished 2nd on last two starts the first of those was at Kempton in November in a Class 2 Handicap Hurdle over 2m 5f and the latest was a Class 1 Group 3 Handicap Chase at Aintree in December over 3m 1f. I feel another bold display is on the cards here and a win would put him in great shape on his route for another tilt at the Grand National.
Win Advised
.
Santini -Won a point race in Ireland before being sent to Nicky Henderson made debut at Newbury in December in a Class 3 Novice Hurdle over 2m 4f and won beating Chef Des Obeaux by 4 and 1/2 lengths. Chef has won twice since then franking the form and Santini looks the one they all have to beat here.
Win Advised
Upsilon Blue -Was 2nd last time out at Musselburgh in January in a Class 2 Handicap Chase over 2m 3f, although is a previous course and distance winner here, and has to be taken seriously especially having won this race last year. Ticks a lot of boxes for me and has to be my selection.
Win Advised

Well that’s my thoughts on Saturday’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.
Final Word –
I don’t think there will be a dry eye in the house if Beer Goggles wins today, with it also being Many Clouds week too. Please remember Mental Health is important, please don’t suffer in silence, Talk! As we mentioned at the start, feel free to DM either of us on Twitter… Now back to the Racing
Apple’s Shakira(12.15) should land the Triumph Trial Hurdle at Cheltenham, having won both times at the course to date and there is plenty of improvement in the tank, Nicky Henderson knows he has a cracker there! Although the Grand National is still a long way off The Last Samuri(2.25) who was runner up over National Fence’s at Aintree last time out, will be looking to go one better today, when getting 6LB from Bristol De Mai and has 2 wins and a place from three runs over 3m 1f.
Away from Cheltenham, Doncaster hold a NH Meeting and Maria’s Benefit(2.40) will be looking to add the Grade 2 Mares’ Hurdle to the Listed contest she took at Taunton in December by 30 lengths, I tipped this horse when it first won this season and has followed her ever since. Another I have tipped in the past Wakanda(3.15) will be looking to go one better than runner up, having only been beaten by a head from Get On The Yager, with Actinpeices back in 4th, who has since won. Wakanda can take advantage of a falling mark, having won a Ascot Listed race back in December 2015 was then rated 151 and now runs from 145, having won 3 listed races in a row back then!
And Finally, we nip back to Fairyhouse, with Crackerdancer(2.45) won on hurdle debut by 2w5 lengths at Limerick and is now stepping up in Grade, having won a Navan 2m Listed NH Flat race by 3/4’s of a length, prior to going hurdling, is unbeaten in 4 runs and you never know!
Thanks for popping by folks, have a cracking Saturday
All the Best – Charlie & Rich
