Final Word Special

With No Peoples Nap yesterday or today, Charlie returned yesterday hitting a winner. Charlie is having today off, so it’s just me and a Final Word Special….

Were start at Southwell before heading to Meydan…..

Southwell-Racecourse-680x350

Magic Pulse(3.15) has 2 wins and 1 place from 4 runs since moving to DC Griffiths, winning over C/D(5f) by 1 & 1/4 lengths on January 5th in a Class 6 Handicap from Snaffled, who has since won and now steps up to Class 5 carrying a penalty in this 4 runner contest….. So now we head to Meydan

It’s a very nice card in Meydan, with a few Group contest’s, so let’s take a look at what I found …..

Benbatl(3.05) the Epsom Derby 5th made a winning seasonal return her over C/D (1m 1f) on January 11th, when taking a Group 3 contest in taking fashion by over 2 lengths from Emotionless and now enters this Group 2 contest in good heart and has a great chance to step up on his first run.

Championship(4.50) makes seasonal return today, was last seen winning a Group 2 contest over C/D (7f) on February 15th, when taking the second of his two Group 2 victories, when beating Noah from Goa by 2 & 3/4 lengths. Returned over C/D last season, finishing 2nd, when beaten by a neck. D’bai is the main danger, having won over C/D last month and is expected to come on for the run.

And in the final race of the day, Gold Stone(6.00) who won twice last season at Newbury and Wolverhampton before finishing last when stepping up from 1m 4f to 1m 6f. Made seasonal return over C/D on January 11th, winning by a nose from Golden Wood and now has Christophe Soumillion on board, so a big run is expected.

And now we finish with Charlie’s results from yesterday…..

Charlie’s Results –

1 Winner from 3 selections…. Winning at 3/1

aviary-image-1517355240571

Knocknamona winning the 3.10, tipped 9/4 and SP was 3/1, not a bad day for Charlie, who will now take a day or two away to focus on the big Weekend coming up.

Thanks for popping in folks.

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Another 2nd for PN as Charlie returns…..

Screenshot_20160713-220714_1

Another tough day for Rich as the PN finishes runner up for the second time in two days….. The PN will take a day off and return on February 1st, in the mean time, Charlie is back and Rich has Final Word…. So let’s crack on and welcome back Charlie –

Cheers Rich, it’s nice to be back with some selections after a nice Nap winner on Saturday, my 3 selections for Wednesday are all from Ayr and they are listed below.

aviary-image-1517355240571

Arctic Vodka -Was 2nd at Carlisle in a Class 4 Novice Hurdle over 2m 3f in October, was then sent here for next two runs first of those was in November in a Class 5 Maiden over 2m 4f and finished 3rd losing by 8 length to Victoria Says. The latest run here in December showed more promise when finishing 2nd to Trongate in a Class 4 Handicap Hurdle, only losing by a length and a half. The extra yardage should bring further progress and with the ground being heavy brings him into consideration here and is one I can’t ignore.

Win Advised

.

Cerca Trova -Won a Chase on heavy ground last time out at Tramore, albeit a tad fortunate as the  leader Killare Castle fell at the last leaving Cerca Trova clear. That was over 2m 5f and with similar conditions at Ayr makes her an interesting contender add to that the booking of Brian Hughes hints at a sign of intention here.

Win Advised

.

Knocknamona -Has won last 3 races on the trot, although was over 2m 4f in class 4 territory. Goes up in trip to 3m and 20y, and has been raised another 7lb for latest victory at Bangor in December. This makes him 15lb higher than first of those victories and a chance is taken that the extra yardage will bring about another victory here.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on Wednesday’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

PN Result(Tuesday) – Kommander Kirkup – 2nd …..

Final Word

I spent a fair while going through the cards and really didn’t find to much to get over excited about, the 3 I have found are on the AW…

So let’s start at Chelmsford, where Unit of Assessment(1.55) who has improved for each run on AW since a debut on that surface finishing 8th…. 3rd and 2nd followed culminating in a 3/4’s of a length victory  from Berlisca last time out & with Adam Kirby retained for the 3rd race in a row, another big run is likely.

That was all that interested me there, so lets head to Newcastle. I’m not a massive fan of this track as you never know what results will throw up…. But Desert Ruler(4.05) can land the opener having won here over 1m 2f by a head last time out and steps up an extra 2 furlongs from the same mark.

And in the Finale, Star Cracker(6.45) is a C/D winner from December 6th by 1/2 a length, before finishing 3rd over 6f by 1 & 1/2 lengths on January 19th, now drops back to 5f in this Apprentice Handicap and runs from same mark.

Thanks for popping by folks

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Beaten a Short Head!

IMG_0200-640x480

How unlucky can you be…. Seriously couldn’t make it up yesterday…. PN beaten by a Short Head, while another one of the choices was beaten by a neck! undeterred, I go again….. into the breach!

Peoples Nap Choices –

Kommander Kirkup – Form over C/D last 4 runs reads 1 1 2 2 – Two Class 6 C/D handicap wins followed by a runner up spot when beaten by a head on January 3rd and beaten just 6 days later by a neck from Hammer Gun in a Class 4 Handicap over C/D, drops to Class 5 – 4/1

Lingfield – Heavy

2.40 – Handicap Chase – Class 5 – 2m 7f 110y

Very Live – Has finished runner up on both starts since returning from a 281 day break. Beaten 6 lengths on seasonal return by Ballyegan over 2m 4fin a Class 5 Handicap Chase at Towcester, before filling the same position at Warwick, in a 2m 4f Class 4 Handicap Chase 2 & 3/4 lengths behind Native Robin, who has since won as has 3rd place Dontmindtheboys. Up in trip and drops to Class 5 – 5/1

Newcastle – Soft

3.35- Handicap Chase – Class 4 – 2m 75y

Whitsundays – Carries a 7Lb penalty for a last time out win by 16 lengths at Kelso on January 25th in a Class 4 Handicap Chase. Runner up on both runs prior to win after returning from 204 days away – 11/8

PN Result(Monday) – Tossapenny – 2nd……

_45557693_racegoers_416_pa

With no Charlie again, I am flying solo…. So were crack straight on with Final Word

With all 3 PN Choices finishing runner up, hopefully we will get a hard earned winner of two …. Here are the one’s that missed the PN cut….

Kimberlite Candy(Newcastle 2.30) Finally won at the forth attempt over bigger fences by a neck at Market Rasen and was unlucky last time out after being hampered by a faller and failed to gain any rhythm after the incident and was pulled up. Steps up an extra 2f today from 2m 5f to 2m 7f….

Another who took a while to gain a victory was Tara Bridge(Lingfield 3.45) who won on 13th run at Southwell in a 2m 1f Novice Handicap Chase, winning by 6 lengths. Returned last time at Plumpton over hurdles after some 300 days away and finished runner up by 1/2 a length and now returns to Chases’……

That’s all for today folks, thanks for popping by…

All the Best – Rich

Clear the Monday Blue’s Away….

Yeah, it’s Monday, we know…. Who really looks forward to Monday after a weekend away from the grindstone? This is a positive Monday though… What? Why?? I hear you ask…. Well, on Wednesday for many of us, it’s pay day! Possibly the longest month of the year comes to a close and we can start looking forward to another new month, with many exciting events on the horizon…

Hereford Racecourse 2jpg.jpeg

Peoples Nap Choices

Hereford – Soft

1.40 – Maiden Hurdle – Class 4 – 2m 5f 163y

Tossapenny – Runner up on both starts under rules. Beaten by a nose on debut in a NH Flat race over 2m, in a class at Chepstow before being beaten on Hurdles debut in a Class 5 maiden Hurdle, over 1m 7f at Southwell by a short head. Now steps up in trip – 7/4

4.40 – Hunters Chase – Class 5 – 2m 4f 194y

Full Throttle – 3 wins from 3 Hunter Chase starts, including a Class 6 Hunters Chase at Cheltenham in May by 4 lengths. Has had a run in PTP last month, when runner up so should be ready after a while off – 5/1

Wolverhampton(AW) – Standard

7.30 – Novice Stakes – Class 5 – 7f 36y

Maximinus Thrax -Runner up on debut at Kempton in a 1m Class 5 Maiden, when finishing 4 & 1/2 lengths behind Humbert but stepped up on that performance to land a C/D Class 5 Novice Stakes from Cliffs of Capri by a short head on January 8th, who has since won over 1m at Lingfield – 15/8

PN Result(Saturday) – Sizing Tennessee – 3rd…..

Charlie’s Results(Saturday) – Nap – Santini (Cheltenham 3.00)  – Won 4/1 SP  & Price tipped, NB & 3B were both unplaced, but a 4/1 winner means profit on a tough day

aviary-image-1517052389158

Charlie has nothing on Monday, so we will head straight to Final Word….

Final Word

I only had two left over from the PN choices today and both run at Wolverhampton, in the evening as I found nothing of interest at Plumpton….

wolverhampton

Montague(6.00) Drops from a Class 3 Handicap last time out, when finishing 5th, the same position it held in a Class 4 Handicap in the Prior race to a Class 6 Claiming contest. Having won a Class 6Claimer at Chelmsford in October and won here over 7f in November, should have too much for the rest of the field, running over 6f in this class.

While Montague goes down in Class, Dellaguista(6.30) takes a step up in Class. Going from runner up last time out at this course & distance over 1m 142y, when beaten by 1 & 1/2 lengths in a Class 4 Handicap. With 3 wins from 4 runs will be looking to add to that total, now stepping up in to a Class 2 Handicap, running from bottom weight of 8s 12Lb which is almost a Stone more than top weight Zest.

I hope you have seen my recent post’s for 3 Furlongs Out, regarding The Racegoers Club and Many Clouds- A Tribute. If not check them out, especially The Racegoers Club, which if you go racing on a regular basis may be of interest.

Thanks for popping by folks…..

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Stunning Saturday

screenshot_20161208-231657_1

Well, we are at the weekend again, I would like to take this chance to wish my partner in crime, Charlie, a very happy birthday for Friday and hope we can make it a good weekend. Also please note, due to other commitments, there will be no Peoples Nap on Sunday as I am away. We would also like to say, that if anyone ever needs to talk, feel free to DM us on twitter, nobody should suffer in silence….

It’s a full on Saturday, with PN Choices, Charlie’s Saturday Selections and Final Word, so we best get cracking on…..

Peoples Nap Choices –

Cheltenham – Soft

1.15 – Novice Handicap Chase – Class 2 – 2m 4f 166y

Sizing Tennessee – I said in this blog on December 15th, if Sizing can Jump well, he can win, which he did by 6 lengths at this course over 3m. Dropped back on New Years Day, over C/D, jumping to the right and if winner Yanworth, didn’t idle in front the winning margin would have been bigger than a neck. Still plenty to come and jumping will improve – 11/4

Fairyhouse – Soft to Heavy

2.10- Handicap Chase( 0-109) – 3m 1f

Pack Your Bags – Runner up on last two starts, including over this distance at Down Royal on November 3rd, when beaten by 1 & 3/4 lengths. Runner Up again on December 9th in a Handicap Hurdle over 2m 6f at Navan. Tried in first time blinkers and has Mark Walsh on board – 15/8

Doncaster – Soft

3.50 – Handicap Chase – Class 2 – 2m 87y

BigMartre – Won on Chase debut over 2m in a Class 3 Novice Handicap at Ludlow by 3 & 1/2 lengths from Darebin in October, followed up at Newbury by 4 & 1/2 lengths, again, in a Class 3 Novice Handicap over 2m from Cyrname, who has since won a Kempton Grade 2 Chase by 7 lengths – 3/1

PN Result(Thursday) – Red Galileo – Unplaced

I will now pass you to Charlie, who will run you through his Saturday Selection’s and I will see you for Final Word…. Happy Birthday for yesterday buddy, the floor is all yours, but no disco dancing at your age! –

Cheers Rich, it was very nice to receive all the birthday wishes yesterday, not only from my blog partner Rich but the many followers who wished me well both on Twitter and Facebook,i would like to thank you guys, as it was a very nice Birthday and although Friday was a no bet day it was enjoyable all the same, it’s time to get stuck into Saturday’s races so on that note let’s kick things off with my selections listed below.

Charlie’s Selections

aviary-image-1517052389158

The Last Samuri -Although hasn’t ran at Cheltenham before, The last samuri has class to get involved here, finished 2nd in the 2016 Grand National, and has finished 2nd on last two starts the first of those was at Kempton in November in a Class 2 Handicap Hurdle over 2m 5f and the latest was a Class 1 Group 3 Handicap Chase at Aintree in December over 3m 1f. I feel another bold display is on the cards here and a win would put him in great shape on his route for another tilt at the Grand National.

Win Advised

.

Santini -Won a point race in Ireland before being sent to Nicky Henderson made debut at Newbury in December in a Class 3 Novice Hurdle over 2m 4f and won beating Chef Des Obeaux by 4 and 1/2 lengths. Chef has won twice since then franking the form and Santini looks the one they all have to beat here.

Win Advised

Upsilon Blue -Was 2nd last time out at Musselburgh in January in a Class 2 Handicap Chase over 2m 3f, although is a previous course and distance winner here, and has to be taken seriously especially having won this race last year. Ticks a lot of boxes for me and has to be my selection.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on Saturday’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

Final Word –

I don’t think there will be a dry eye in the house if Beer Goggles wins today, with it also being Many Clouds week too. Please remember Mental Health is important, please don’t suffer in silence, Talk! As we mentioned at the start, feel free to DM either of us on Twitter… Now back to the Racing

Apple’s Shakira(12.15) should land the Triumph Trial Hurdle at Cheltenham, having won both times at the course to date and there is plenty of improvement in the tank, Nicky Henderson knows he has a cracker there! Although the Grand National is still a long way off The Last Samuri(2.25) who was runner up over National Fence’s at Aintree last time out, will be looking to go one better today, when getting 6LB from Bristol De Mai and has 2 wins and a place from three runs over 3m 1f.

Away from Cheltenham, Doncaster hold a NH Meeting and Maria’s Benefit(2.40) will be looking to add the Grade 2 Mares’ Hurdle to the Listed contest she took at Taunton in December by 30 lengths, I tipped this horse when it first won this season and has followed her ever since. Another I have tipped in the past Wakanda(3.15) will be looking to go one better than runner up, having only been beaten by a head from Get On The Yager, with Actinpeices back in 4th, who has since won. Wakanda can take advantage of a falling mark, having won a Ascot Listed race back in December 2015 was then rated 151 and now runs from 145, having won 3 listed races in a row back then!

And Finally, we nip back to Fairyhouse, with Crackerdancer(2.45) won on hurdle debut by 2w5 lengths at Limerick and is now stepping up in Grade, having won a Navan 2m Listed NH Flat race by 3/4’s of a length, prior to going hurdling, is unbeaten in 4 runs and you never know!

Thanks for popping by folks, have a cracking Saturday

All the Best –  Charlie & Rich

aviary-image-1516837998343

Un Guet Apens -Winner of a Class 2 Chase last time out over 2m 5f here, has a lower hurdle rating and looks the one to be on in this easier race.

Win Advised

.

Uno Valeroso -Won at Bangor over 2m 1f in a Class 4 Handicap Chase, was then sent to Haydock and finished 2nd over 1m 7f in a Class 3 Handicap Chase, if jumping cleaner this time could easily take this race from the same mark as last time.

Win Advised

.

Presenting Percy -Won a Chase at Galway over 2m 6f back in October, was then sent to Punchestown and finished 3rd in a Group 2 Novice Chase over 2m 6f. Latest victory came at Fairyhouse over 3m 5f in a Handicap Chase and looks the one to beat on that form.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following, please remember to keep stakes small, so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will hand you over to Rich for the Final Word.

.

Final Word –

Firstly, we would like to pass on our Thoughts to the Family, Friends and Colleagues of Richard Woolacott, who sadly passed away earlier this week. A young trainer with a bright future.

It is also Many Clouds week, as you know, I was a huge fan of Many Clouds and I still think about that day and what could have been….. so feel free to read my tribute on our blog and I am also led to believe it will be republished by 3 Furlongs Out too.

I had two that failed to make the PN Choices, both run at Southwell on the AW, with Pearl Acclaim(2.10) dropping back from Class 4 into a Class 5 Handicap after winning over C/D by 1/2 a length on January 14th. Won in this class back on December 19th and has C/D form reading 1 1 2 1……

While Helen Sherbert(3.20) who has two wins from 4 starts at this course. 6f winner on November 16th by a head and won again when stepped up to 7f on January 9thin a Class 4 Handicap(3YO Only) by 3 & 1/2 lengths. Runs under a penalty and now tries 1m for the first time.

Thanks for popping by folks.

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Knocking on the door for PN Winner #4

thU4V7IL43

Peoples Nap Choices –

Lingfield(AW) – Standard

1.00 – Fillies’ Handicap – Class 5 – 3YO Only – 1m 1y

Briscola – John Gosden’s Redoute’s Choice Filly has finished runner up in her last two runs. Makes handicap debut and wears first time blinkers – 11/4

3.10 – Handicap – Class 2 – 1m 2f

Easy Tiger – Two length runner up to Goring in a class 4 handicap on December 13th over 1m, who has since won a twice. Stepped up an extra 2 furlongs to land a Class 3 Handicap over C/D on January 6th from Eltezam by a neck. Steps up in Class – 4/1

Kempton(AW) – Standard

7.15 – Handicap – Class 4 – 7f

King of Nepal – Won a Class 5 Handicap over 7f at Wolverhampton(AW) on Boxing Day by 1 & 3/4 lengths in a race that included Baltic Prince, Dark Alliance and Dutiful Son, who have all won since. Raised 4 for the win. Won over C/D back in November 2016 and Fran Berry is on board for Henry Candy- 5/4

PN Result(Monday) – Willyegolassiego – WON – 7/2

In an extended Final Word today as Charlie, lends a hand…..

Final Word –

Rich – I have just two that didn’t make the final cut in the PN Choices, so i’ll just crack on with them….. David Simcock will be hoping for 3rd time lucky with his Arcano Filly, who tries 7f for the third time after being beaten a neck at Lingfield in a 6f Class 6 Novice Stakes on January 10th after finishing runner up over 7f on first try and being beaten by a head on second attempt, so will Peace And Power(1.30) make it 3rd time lucky?

And over at Kempton in the evening RM Beckett & Oisin Murphy team up with Speciality(7.45) who is a French Import. Fifth on UK debut in a Class 5 Amateur Handicap over 1m 2f, before heading to Southwell(AW) when finishing 3rd on AW debut after stepping up to 1m 4f for the first time. Runner Up on January 3rd, when beaten 1 & 3/4 lengths in a Class 5 Southwell(AW) Maiden(1m 4f) by New World Power, with the front two 5 lengths clear of the field, so will it be 3rd time lucky over the trip??

I will hand you to Charlie, so he can have the Final Word….

Charlie – Although I don’t have any selections today, I do have a few I found on the All-weather and they can be located below :

Lingfield 2.05 – Light Laughter – Originally with Dermot Weld but now with C Fellowes, although failed to win in previous 4 runs a chance is taken that Light Laughter can get off the mark for new connections at the expense of The Special One.

3.45 – Mighty Mac – Beaten 7 length by Swing Out Sister back in September last year on racecourse debut, been off for 131 days and a chance is taken that the horse will be ready for this, has been gelded since that run and could easily be in the mix here.

4.15 Last Word – Although has been unplaced in all 4 starts thus far, including finishing 8th of 13 over track and trip back in November, a chance is taken on a better performance this time around.

Thanks for popping by folks….

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

A nice 3B and PN win on a Sunday….

Wolverhampton Racecourse

We were at it again yesterday, Charlie landing a nice tidy winner and the PN winning for the second day in a row….. It has been a excellent weekend from us  and we hope that form continues during the week….. We will kick off as usual with the PN …..

Peoples Nap Choices

Wolverhampton(AW) – Standard

5.20 – Handicap – Class 4 – 3YO Only – 5f 21y

Big Time Maybe – C/D winner last time out on October 28th, when winning in Class 4 Nursery Handicap by 2 & 1/4 lengths. That race included Wiff Waff, who has since won two from the next three outings. Martin Harley takes over from Richard Kingscote on the Son of Dandy Man, who is 2 from 3 on the AW – 6/5

5.50 – Handicap – Class 5 – 1m 6f

Willyegolassiego – Won over C/D last time out on December 27th in a Class 6 Handicap, winning by 1 & 1/2 lengths. The91 rated Hurdler is rated just 70 on the AW and the Kheleyf Mare has form on the AW, reading 1-2-1-1. Dougie Costello is on top again for Neil Mulholland – 11/4

7.20 – Handicap – Class 5 – 1m 1f 104y

Berlusca – Has finished runner up on last 3 C/D starts, beaten 1/2 a length by Pink Ribbon on December 5th, beaten by 3/4’sof  a length, this time to King Kevin on January 3rd and again on January 8th by 3/4’s of a length to Unit of Assessment, 3rd and 4th that day have both since won – 10/3

PN Result(Sunday) – Dinaria Des Obeaux – WON SP 11/10 ……

Here’s Charlie to take you through his Sunday Service and I will see you for Final Word….

Cheers Rich, let’s get straight down to Sunday’s Round Up :

Goring One – Was sitting nicely in 3rd before blundering the last and ran on holding position and was a loss.

Foxrock – was beaten into 2nd by Rich’s left out selection Gilgamboa mentioned in Final word. This race was a loss for me but just thought I’d mention that we sometimes have different selections in same race and sometimes we do land the Fcast between us, so keep an eye on our selections as we don’t always point those out directly.

Fareeq -Chased leading horse’s until 1f out, ridden to lead entering final furlong hugged inside rail and Won by 3/4 length Advised at 11-2 returned at 5-1

Just the one winner again although the other 2 did run gracefully in defeat, so can take plenty of positivity from this weekend. Unfortunately the racing on Monday doesn’t appeal to me so I’m having a no bet day. I will hand you over to Rich now for the Final Word.

Final Word

Just a couple that failed to make the final 3 for the PN Choices, both at Wolverhampton, as that was the only card I looked at …..

Cross Counter(4.50) The son of Teofilo will be looking to follow up the debut race course win over C/D(1m 1f) when on December 9th, winning by 2 & 1/4 lengths in a Class 5 Novice Stakes contest, that has yielded a couple of winners since and is likely to go off a short price favourite.

While Mastero Mac(6.50) is looking to get back to winning ways after finished a disappointing 10th at Yarmouth when last seen back in October. That run came after winning a 1m 2f Class 5 Handicap on the AW at Chelmsford. Having won twice on the AW, including here in September 2015 over 1m, this is a good place to return after not being seen since October …..

Thanks for popping by and we hope a few of you got on our winners at the Weekend, as we certainly did…..

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Has finished 4th to Death Duty in a Fairyhouse Grade One on December 3rd before trying 3m for the first time at Leopardstown in a Grade One Chase, having been hampered by the falling Monalee and dropped back to finish 6th of 8. Now drops back in trip and down in Grade – 1/1

PN Result(Saturday) – The New One – SP 1/1

We now hand over to Charlie for him to take you through his Saturday Selection Results and then deliver his Sunday Service, I will see you for Final Word…. Charlie the floor is yours…..

Cheers Rich, we will start with a recap on Saturday’s performance.

Midnight Tune -Finished 4th and was a loss.

Jenkins – Won as expected at 5-1 but with a rule 4 of 10p in the pound means it paid out as 9-2

Hainan – could only manage 3rd and was another loss.

Just the one winner on Saturday but will take that on a difficult day. Selections for Sunday are listed below :

Goring One – Was 3rd in a Class 5 Handicap Chase at Fontwell in November over 2m 5f, was then sent to Wincanton to contest a Class 5 Handicap Chase over 3m 2f in December and won wearing cheekpieces for first time. Was then sent to Fontwell to contest another Class 5 Handicap Chase over 3m 1f and won again, has been raised 6lbs and the cheekpieces return today and another bold display can’t be discounted.

Win Advised

.

Foxrock -Was in excellent form last season winning 3 Hunter Chases in a row before being pulled up in the Irish Grand National, has moved yards to Alan Flemming and the booking of Katie Walsh is a positive, Foxrock won this race last year and although is yet to see a racecourse this season can’t be ruled out on previous form and would be foolish to dismiss.

Win Advised

.

Fareeq -Yet to score on the all-weather this term, although hinted of a return to form when 3rd here over 5f on the 4th January, goes back up in trip to 6f and a bold run is anticipated.

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s Main 3 selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will hand you over to Rich for the Final Word.

Final Word

Just a Couple for you today, both at Thurles …..

Where A Toi Phil(2.50) goes in the Grade 2 Kinloch Brae Chase(2m 4f) sice winning a Grade 2 Chase at Gowran, he has finished 4th to Disko(Grade 2 Chase) at Down Royal, 2nd toAplha Des Obeaux(Grade 2) at Clonmel before finishing 4th to Sizing John in the John Durkin at Punchestown on December 10th and was runner up last time out to Bachasson in a Listed Chase at Tramore on New Years Day. Top rated in the race.

And in the 4.20 Gilgamboa, who was forth in the 2016 Grand National to Rule the World, who has since finished runner up in a Grade 2 Chase at Navan and was brought down in a following Grade 2 Chase at Cork in December 2016. Has run in a couple of PTP races since before taking a Down Royal 2m 6f Hunters Chase by 3/4’s of a length with today’s  rider Nina Carberry on board.

Peoples Nap Choices –

Navan – Heavy

12.25 – Novice Hurdle – 2m

And here he is….. Charlie is back….. I will leave him to run through his Saturday Selection’s and I will catch you lucky people for Final Word….

Cheers Rich, let’s get straight down to Saturday’s selections and they are listed below.

Midnight Tune -Winner of last 2 starts after finishing 2nd at Plumpton, Fontwell and Wincanton prior to winning at Wincanton over 2m 5f and Kempton over 3m, has to be respected here the main danger is La Bauge Au Roiwho has also won last 3 starts, although my preference is for midnight tune to take the spoils here.

Win Advised

.

Jenkins -Isn’t as straightforward as it should be and has proved hard to get right, although a ready winner at Kempton last time out over 2m has been raised 11 lbs for that win and James Bowen’s claim takes half of that penalty away and with going up in trip  to 2m 3f and 28y for the first time and can’t be discounted.

Win Advised

.

Hainan – Is another who is difficult to get right, was pulled up at Ayr in a Class 3 Handicap Hurdle over 3m, was then sent to Haydock to contest a Class 3 Handicap Chase over 3m 4f on heavy going and absolutely hosed up by 12 length, has been raised 8lbs for that comprehensive victory but drops in trip to 3m 1f and 125y and is a risk I’m willing to take considering it’s form on heavy going.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s main 3 selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now pass you over to Rich for the Final Word.

Final Word

Well, I am not going to beat around the bush here folks, 3 of the 4 are ODD’S ON and the 3 all race at Ascot…. Yep that’s right….

I think the 1.50 will go the way of 4 time Class 1 Listed winner La Bague Au Roi, who has won twice this season already over 2m at Wetherby in a Class 1 Listed before stepping up to 3m at Kempton to land another Class 1 Listed contest and deserves to land a Graded contest sooner rather than later.

Un De Sceaux(3.35) will be looking to retain the crown he landed last season in a cracking Clarence House Chase when beating recently retired Sire De Grugy by 1 length. He won on seasonal return at Cork by 25 lengths from Top Gamble and is expected to land the prize on his way to the Cheltenham Festival.

Nicky Henderson should have a winner today too at Ascot and I fully expect Santini(4.05) to to take the Class 3 Novice Hurdle, after a successful winning uk race course debut at Newbury over 2m 4f from Chef Des Obeaux, who has since won twice, with the extra furlong bringing out more improvement.

And finally, I have a tracker running at Chelmsford at 5.15 in the Apprentice 5f Handicap where Rossa Ryan takes the reigns of Swendab, who finished 2017 with AW form figures of 1121 having finished the year winning at Wolverhampton under this pilot….

Let’s hope it’s all Badnews for the bookie’s on what promise’s to be a superb Saturday for racing.

Remember only the Peoples Nap and Charlie’s Saturday Selection’s are TIPS, Final Word is just note’s ……

Thanks for popping by folks, we appreciate your support

All the best – Charlie & Rich
