Charlie landed a nice winner while Rich could only muster one… We always look forward & not back, so here we are with Saturdays thoughts. Charlie has his Selections while Rich has the Final Word including the Middle Park Stakes….

Charlie –

Newmarket 3.00 – Mum’s Tipple -Has been impressive so far, winning 2 from 2 and with latest wide margin victory of 11 lengths at York looking very decent form wise. Although has yet  to be properly tested, this race is deeper than previous 2 runs and will have to produce a similar display to dispatch this field, with the main dangers coming in the shape of Earthlight and Siskin who have both won their last 4 outings.

Win Advised – UNPLACED

.

Ripon 3.35 – Flying Pursuit -Although hasn’t won for some time, hinted of a rejuvenation of old form when finishing 5th in the Ayr Silver Cup last weekend and a return to favoured soft ground is a positive having won last twice on today’s going. Trainer T Easterby is in fine form at the moment and with Rachel Richardson doing the steering is taken to get back in the winners enclosure today.

Win Advised 3RD

.

Chester 3.55 – Toronado Queen -Won on debut at Catterick back in August over 7f when beating Narak by 3 and 1/4 lengths. Wasn’t disgraced last time out when finishing 3rd behind Perfect Number at Chelmsford over 1m, was only beaten 2 and 1/4 lengths that day. Has a good draw today and if handling the going is positioned to attack from the front and is taken to land the spoils today.

Win Advised UNPLACED

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks Charlie, slightly disappointed with yesterday but today is a new day & I am very confident I will get a couple of winners….

Newmarket – Good

1.50 Royal Lodge Stakes… Group 2… 2YO Only…. 1m….

Highland Chief…. Made a winning start with a neck win at Newbury over 5f on racing debut back in April. Given 71 days off before finishing a 4 & 1/2 length 3rd to Pinatubo in the Listed Chesham 7f Stakes at Ascot, when stepping up in trip. This requires another step up in trip & also a step up in grade but is certainly very capable of taking it… UNPLACED

2.25 Cheveley Park Stakes… Fillies’ Group 1… 2YO Only… 6f….

Raffle Prize…The Duchess of Cambridge winner back in July also landed the Queen Mary(G2) and a Class 2 Chester Maiden. This was all after a debut defeat to Daahyeh, who won the Rockfel Stakes yesterday in May.
Beaten a neck last time out on August 18th, when narrowly going down to Earthlight in the Prix Morny….. RUNNER UP
DANGER… Tropbeau…. Group 2& 3 winner over 7f in France for Andre Fabre. Beaten over 5 & 1/2f on debut and now drops back to 6f….

3.00 Middle Park Stakes… Group 1… 2YO Only…. 6f….

Plenty of unbeaten records on the line this afternoon & a couple or even all 3 may well go in what looks a fantastic renewal of this race.
Siskin is 4 from 4 including landing the Group 2 Railway Stakes(6f) and last time out when winning the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes(6f), beating Monarch of Egypt on both occasions..
Mums Tipple is 2 from 2 having won on racing debut in an Ascot 6f Class 2 Maiden before striding away to land a Class 2 Yearling Stakes by 11 lengths, looking visually impressive… AND….
Earthlight who like Siskin is 4 from 4. Winning the Group 3 Prix De Cabourg(6F) and last time out beating Raffle Prize by a neck in the 6f Group 1 Prix Morny, with 2 from that race winning Group races since…..
Add to the mix Threat, who won the Champagne 7f Stakes(G2) at Doncaster last time out & also landed the Gimcrack.
Lope Y Fernandez was beaten by Pinatubo, by 13 & 1/4 lengths combined but that was over 7f & is 2 from 2 over 6f, winning the Group 3 Round Tower last time out & along with stable companions Monarch of Egypt(Runner up to Siskin on last 2 starts) and likely pace maker King Neptune, will try & turn this into a tactical affair.
I cannot see past EARTHLIGHT, having watched the last 2 starts at Deauville, he looks a class act.
Siskin is the most likely to serve it up to Earthlight, while Threat is the one I like at the bigger odds… WINNER

That is everything for you today folks…. Thanks for your support…
We published an Interview with Michael Scudamore on Sunday, so have a look at that as a prelude to the National Hunt season….

Charlie hails from Glasgow, while Rich is from the Isle of Wight.. We maybe miles apart but we are united by the sport of kings…

Charlie & Rich will be here to cover the big races this weekend, so lets get cracking…..

Charlie –

2.00 Worcester – Middle brow – Won a chase over 2m at Ffos Las back in June this year when beating New Millennium by 3 and 1/4 lengths. Was then sent to Perth for latest outing over 2m in a Class 4 Novice Hurdle and finished a well beaten 5th. Reverts back to the larger obstacles today and with going being more suitable can get back in the winners enclosure.

Win Advised

.

4.00 Haydock – Praxeology -Won at Salisbury in June over 6f in a Class 2. Posted 2 poor performances since then at Goodwood over 6f and then at York over 6f. Made amends last time out when winning at Chester dropped back in distance to 5f, has been raised 3lb for that and could go in again if handling today’s going.

Win Advised

.

3.45 Worcester – Duke Street – Won here last time out back in June 2018 over 2m 4f beating Gustav Mahler by 5 lengths. Has undergone wind surgery since then and although has won after a break before and is untested on today’s softer going is taken to go in again today .

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small soot doesn’t hurt your pockets. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks Charlie, I have my thoughts on Newmarket for you today…

Newmarket – Good….

1.50 Rosemary Stakes… Listed… Fillies & Mares’ … 1m….

Maqsad….. Top rated 107 & a C&D winner on season return in April when winning a Class 4 Maiden by a short head before stepping up in class to land the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes(1m 2f) in early May by 5 lengths. Finished a 10 length 8th in the Group 1 1m 4f Oaks before failing to land a blow to Deirdre in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. Now eased in grade & trip…..

2.25 Muhaarar Stakes… Group 3… Fillies & Mares’ … 1m 4f….

Star Terms…. Finished 5th by 8 & 3/4 lengths on September 12th at Doncaster in the Group 2 Park Stakes(1m 6f) having finished a short head runner up in the Group 3 1m 4f Prix Minerve Stakes in Deauville. A winner of a Longchamp Listed race 1m 4f in July.
Won at this course last August over 7f & drops from Group 2 having found the 1,000 Guineas a touch tough earlier in the season…

3,00 Rockfel Stakes… Fillies’ Group 2… 2YO Only…. 7f….

Daahyeh…. Winner of the Group 2 Albany Stakes(6f) at Ascot in June by 1 & 1/2 lengths before a 1 & 3/4 length runner up spot to Raffle Prize in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes(G2) 6f in July. Had time off until September 15th when finishing a 3/4 length runner up to Love in the 7f Moyglare Stakes(G1) at the Curragh. Eased in grade & a second run over this distance…

3.35 Joel Stakes… Group 2…. 1m….

This is a cracking race with Top Rated Benbatl (122), who finished 5th in the 2017 Derby making his season return having been last seen finished 2 lengths behind Winx back in October. King of Comedy is fresh from finishing a 2 length 4th to Japan in the 1m 2f International(G1) at York having previously finished a neck runner up to Circus Maximus in the St James’ Palace Stakes(G1) at Ascot …
My preference is for UAE Jewel… The C&D winner back on race course debut in April when landing a Class 3 Maiden before stepping up to Listed level to make it 2 from 2 in the Lightning Spear Stakes by 3/4’s of a length. Steps up in grade after 116 days away from the track…..

4.45 Godolphin Stakes… Class 1 Listed… 1m 4f..

Ojooba…. Won last 2 runs, 1 in class 5 & last time out in a Class 3 Handicap over 1m 2f at Nottingham on heavy ground by 5 lengths… Now steps up a class & trip….

That is everything for you today folks…

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Newbury, Ayr & Longchamp

Welcome to arseonlineracing. A 100% independent racing website curated by 2 racing enthusiasts with NO affiliate links. Charlie hails from Glasgow while Rich is from the Isle of Wight, miles apart but united by the sport of kings…

Fresh from our winners last weekend, both Charlie & Rich had 2 winners & RU from 3 selections, while on Sunday in France, Rich managed 4 from 4…

IMG_20190920_205731

Plenty of racing around today, Charlie heads for Ayr, while Rich takes the Group 3 races at Newbury & Longchamp. So lets get cracking…

Ayr Racecourse. Jpg

Charlie –

Ayr

2.40 – Admiralty – Has been racing over 7f mostly this year, with the only 2 runs over today’s distance coming at Hamilton back in July, when finishing 4th behind Air raid. The other run over 6f came at Haydock on heavy ground back in June when finishing 8th behind Cold State. If repeating the run shown at Hamilton, should be in the mix here with ground being more suitable today, but will need to step up considerably to take the win, I feel Admiralty should at least grab a place here and at 11-1 is worth an Eachway play here.

Eachway Advised PLACED 6TH

.

3.50 – Intisaab – Has been hinting of a return to form finishing 4th over 6f at York and the Curragh both back in July this year. Posted a couple of mediocre runs at Ascot and Chelmsford when well held on both runs. Faired a bit better on last start at Doncaster when finishing 3rd over 7f behind Enjazaat. Although was well beaten when last seen in this race back in 2016, Intisaab has showed improvement since that race and if getting a bit of cover could get involved here with jock claiming 7lb, that could swing this race in Intisaab’s favour but will need to improve again today and at 14-1 at time of writing is another Eachway play.

Eachway Advised UNPLACED

.

5.30 – Mordred – Has been racing over 1m to 1m 3f this season and posted a fair 4th at Goodwood over 1m 3f when 3 length behind Aktau in August. Was then dropped slightly in trip to 1m 2f at Windsor in August and finished a 2 and 3/4 of a length 2nd to Cardoc. If handling today’s new trip of 1m 5f and 26y Mordred should be involved here and at 7-1 is another Eachway play here.

Eachway Advised UNPLACED

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pockets. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks Charlie, it would be great if we can continue in the form we showed last weekend…. I will start at Newbury before heading to Paris…

Newbury…. Good…

1.45 World Trophy Stakes…. Group 3… 5f

Judicial…. Finished 5th in this race last season. Given a wind operation between June & July and has since won 2 from 3 races. Winner of the Listed 5f Beverley Bullet last time out on August 31st by 3/4’s of a length…. UNPLACED
DANGER…. Front running & top rated 110 Dakota Gold has won 4 times on the bounce, with  3 of them Class 2 Handicap sprints over 6f and made it 4 on the trot last time out when taking the York 6f Listed race by 1 & 3/4’s of a length. Up in Class

2.20 Legacy Cup Stakes… Group 3…. 1m 3f….

Desert Encounter… Found Group 1 company a little to hot and the drop to Group 3 level has worked a treat. Landing the 1m 4f Queens Plate(3) at Goodwood on August 2nd & last time out when landing the Group 3 1m 2f Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor on August 24th by 1/2 a length. Top Rated  115 & gives weight to the field…. WINNER

Longchamp(Paris)….

2.50 Prix Bretrand De Tarragon… Group 3… 1m 1f..

Duneflower… Beaten 1 & 1/2 lengths last time out at Sandown in the 1m Atalanta Stakes on August 21st having won a Fillies/Mares’ Listed race at Ascot in July when stepping up after a  Class 4 win. Dettori has the mount for John Gosden & that is why he isn’t at Newbury…. RUNNER UP

4.00 Prix de Prince D’Orange… Group 3… 3YO Only… 1m 2f….

Soudania… Sea the Stars filly(Yep I love these kids) who was a 3 length runner up on race course debut in May. Won next time out in June at Chantilly before making it 2 from 3 on the AW at Deauville over 1m 1f. Made it 3 from 4 when taking a C&D  Fillies’ Listed race from Queen(Also in the field). Receives fillies’  3Lb weight allowance…. WINNER
DANGER… Winterfuchs… Finished 3rd in the Group 2 Union Renner(German Derby Trial)…..
Note – John Gosden & Frankie Dettori team up with Dubai Warrior, who was a Class 2 Handicap 2nd at Chelmsford on September 2nd…

That’s everything today for you folks… Thanks for your support & Don’t forget to have a read of our latest BIG Interview with Dave Lowe, Owner of Kachy…

Irish Champions Weekend & Longchamp

Welcome to arseonlineracing. A 100% independent racing website curated by 2 racing enthusiasts with NO affiliate links. Charlie hails from Glasgow while Rich is from the Isle of Wight, miles apart but united by the sport of kings…

pat smullen
This blog is dedicated to Pat

The Irish Champions Weekend moves from Leopardstown to the Curragh today & features the Legends Charity race, This year the race is at 4.50 and is run over 1m.

Pat Smullen Champions Race for Cancer Trials Ireland and this blog is dedicated to Pat Smullen.

If you are thinking of betting on the race, if you have the winner, why not donate the winnings to the fund.
Everyone is a winner in this race and we are not posting a selection for you. Pat was due to line up alongside Sir AP, Ruby Walsh, Johnny Murtagh, Ted Durkin, Richard Hughes and Joseph O’Brien(plus many more to name but a few) but sadly it was not to be. It is fantastic the racing community has put it’s full weight(Pardon the pun) behind this.
We would like to send Pat our Best Wishes and are fully behind him on this great day.

Yesterdays blog was updated as the day went on, so we will now crack on with todays… Like yesterday @Glen_Colt is covering the Curragh & Rich has Longchamp while Charlie has a day off….

With Longchamp having a great card too, we cover both cards….

@Glen_Colt (aka Jamie) –

2:25 – Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes – Selection: Hit the Bid

This Group 1 over the minimum distance is wide open with cases being made for many. Local trainer Darren Bunyan isn’t one of thehigh-profile trainers in Ireland, but he has been very bullish in the build up to this race about his horse, Hit the Bid. He returned at
Tipperary last month off a five-month absence to finish sixth in a listed race. He will need to improve his form a lot to win this, but this has been his target all year and crucially he gets his favoured fast ground. Should be bang there on his best form. UNPLACED

3:00 – Moyglare Stud Stakes – Selection: Albinga

Another open looking race with the Debutante and Royal Ascot form going under the microscope. Daahyeh has strong form but I am sticking with Jessica Harrington’s Filly Albinga. She is 2/2 and quickened up very takingly to win a Group 2 here at the Derby
meeting. The team at the Harrington stables think she is the best of their quality two-year-old crop and that speaks volumes. The step up to 7f looks tailor made and she has a massive chance. UNPLACED

4:10 – Cormer Group International Irish St Leger – Selection: Kew Gardens

A formidable home team awaits Melbourne Cup hero Cross Counter in the final Group 1 of the weekend. I fancy Kew Gardens to complete a St Leger double after winning the British version at Doncaster in 2018. Kew Gardens unfortunately picked up an injury
soon after going very close to winning the Coronation Cup at Epsom, where I felt he should have won. This is a very good horse and if he is anywhere near his best he will take some beating, it will be case of how race fit Aidan has him. The Melbourne Cup is a target for many of these. RUNNER UP

Now we have Rich & the Final Word…. from Longchamp & the Curragh

dominique-perrault-new-longchamp-racecourse-paris-france-designboom-01
Longchamp

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks Guys and it has been a pleasure to have Jamie with us again this weekend and we look forward to having him back again soon….
Longchamp for me today plus one for the Curragh….

Longchamp…..

1.35 Prix Foy… Group 2… 1m 4f…

Waldgeist…. Faces 3 other rivals today and having finished a 2 length 3rd to Enable at Ascot in the King George IV & Queen Elizabeth Stakes(G1) 1m 4f when last seen and that form should be enough to win this race having already won the Prix Ganay(G1)on seasonal return….. WINNER

2.50 Prix Vermeille… Group 1… 1m 4f….

This looks to between the 2 John Gosden runners. Anapurna, who landed the Oaks Listed Trial at Lingfield on season return before landing the Oaks at Epsom by a neck from Pink Dogwood but I am a fan of Sea the Stars & with Frankie Dettori having the mount on STAR CATCHER, this has swung it for me. The Ribblesdale Stakes(G2) winner at Ascot over 1m 4f in June before landing the Irish Oaks (G1) 1m 4f from Fleeting by 1/2 a length in July.
Fleeting is likely to be the pace maker today for Aidan O’Brien with Pink Dogwood trying to spoil the Gosden party… WINNER

3.25 Prix Niel… Group 2… 1m 4f….

Sottsass… After finishing a 3 length 5th to Shaman on seasonal return in the Group 3 La Force Stakes(1m 1f) at this course. A 6 & 1/2 length win followed in a Chantilly Listed race(1m 2f) before landing the Prix Du Jockey Club (G1) 1m 2f 96yds at Chantilly on June 2nd. Slight rise in trip with a slight drop in grade but should have enough class to land this race… WINNER

Curragh..

3.35… Vincent O’Brien National Stakes.. Group 1… 2YO Only… 7f…

Pinatubo…. 4 wins from 4 starts, with 2 wins over 6f before landing the Chesham Listed Stakes 7f at Ascot by 3 & 1/4 lengths from Lope Y Fernandez in June & that was followed by a 5 length romp in July when taking the Group 2 7f Vintage Stakes at Goodwood from Positive, who along with 3rd, Lope Y Fernandez have both landed a Group 3 race…
The Dangers come from Aidan O’Brien as he has the Coventry Stakes winner(6f) Arizona, who was a 4 & 3/4 length 4th to Earthlight in the 6f Prix Morny(1) at Deauville in June and now steps up in trip. Along with Armory, who is 2 from 2 over Course  & Distance, having won the Group 3 Tyros Stakes in July before a C&D win in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes by 3/4’s of a length in August…. WINNER

That is everything for you today folks… Big thanks to Jamie for his thoughts this weekend… And to you guys for your support…

St Leger Stakes & Irish Champions Weekend

Welcome to arseonlineracing. A 100% independent racing website curated by 2 racing enthusiasts with NO affiliate links. Charlie hails from Glasgow while Rich is from the Isle of Wight, miles apart but united by the sport of kings…

A fantastic day at Doncaster with Stradivarius & A’ali both winning, it was 1 from 2 from Charlie while Rich had 2 from 3 so not a bad day to build up to the weekend & what a weekend we have in store… The St Leger Stakes from Doncaster plus the opening day of the Irish Champions Weekend to kick off a Saturday…..

IMG_20190912_203117

@Glen_Colt (aka Jamie) is back with us covering Leopardstown today & The Curragh tomorrow, Rich has his Final Word from Doncaster & a look at the Irish Champions Stakes but we kick off with Charlie & his Saturday Selections….

Charlie –

Lingfield – 3.25 – Narak -Was 8th on debut at Newbury over 1m in June, was then sent to Redcar for next race over 7f on the 31st July and finished 3rd behind Farzeen and Shaqwar. Was then sent to Catterick to race over 7f and 6y on the 28th August and finished a 3 and 1/4 length 2nd to Toronado Queen. Narak should know more as a result of that race and is taken to gain compensation now going handicapping. WINNER

Win Advised

.

Chester – 4.25 – Humble Gratitude -Won 2 races on the spin last month with the wins coming at Chester over  7f and 127y and Newmarket over 1m. Was a shade disappointing last time out at Chester, when finishing 5th behind Oh This Is Us, drops back into Class 3 today and could gain another win today.

Win Advised RUNNER UP

Doncaster – 4.45 – Qasar -Has won 3 times from last 4 starts, the wins came at Newbury, Newmarket and Haydock over 6f to 1m. Got back on the winning trail last time out at Haydock beating Dubai Dominion by a neck. If showing up in same mood could easily go in again today.

Win Advised WINNER

.

IMG_20190913_203659
Leopardstown

@Glen_Colt (Jamie) –

2:30 – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Pentigo Handicap – Selection: Buildmeupbuttercup
Willie Mullins has won this tough handicap three times since 2013 and I believe he can make that four with the likeable mare Buildmeupbuttercup. She looks the right sort of candidate for a race like this and has some classy form to bring to the table from her
second in the Ascot Stakes at the royal meeting. After that she won as her skinny odds suggested in a Galway maiden. There should be plenty of pace on and Buildmeupbuttercup will love that. Good chance if running up to Ascot form. 2nd

4:15 – Qipco Irish Champion Stakes – Selection: Elarqam
Another fascinating renewal of Ireland’s undisputed number one flat race is in store. Magical will take a good deal of beating no doubt, but Elarqam looks a very good horse in the making and is thriving now. Mark Johnston’s Colt is having a great season and was unlucky when third behind Japan in York’s Juddmonte International. That is very strong form and Leopardstown should be a good track for him. The Frankel Colt is ready for a win at the highest level. My nap of the day. UNPLACED

5:25 – Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes – Selection: I Can Fly
A small but quality field for the Matron Stakes of 2019. Laurens is a proven champion and Hermosa is a dual classic winner, although the value is to side with I Can Fly. She may be the Ballydoyle second string but as we have seen many times the second string can win. I believe there is a big win in this 4yo Mare as she has got some good form in the book, a close third to Too Darn Hot in the Sussex being the best. The return to Leopardstown where she won very nicely last season in the Boomerang Stakes could spark her into life. The race could set up well for her if Laurens and Hermosa engage in war early.

Doncaster

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks guys and it was nice for myself & Charlie to land a winner or two, hopefully we all can land a few today….

Doncaster… Good to Firm….

2.25 Park Stakes… Group 2… 7f 6yds…

Turjomaan…. Has sorted the quirks which saw his debut win reversed due to going across the track. Won at Newcastle on the All Weather over 7f on final start of 2018 before winning at the same venue on seasonal return on June 28th in a Class 5 Novice Stakes by 2 & 3/4’s of a length. Stepped up in class & distance when finishing a 1/2 length runner up to Duke of Hazzard in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Stakes over 1m last time out. Duke of Hazzard has since won the Group 2 Celebration Mile and now Turjomaan drops back to 7f….. NON RUNNER

3.00 Champagne Stakes… 2YO Only.. Group 2… 7f 6yds…

Threat… After a debut win, Threat has finished runner up in a pair of Group 2 races. The Coventry at Ascot by 1/2 a length to Arizona & that was followed at Goodwood in the Richmond Stakes when a 3/4’s of a length runner up to Golden Horde. Threat finally landed a Group 2 at York, when landing the Gimcrack Stakes from Lord of the Lodge by 1 & 1/4 lengths. These were all over 6f & today steps up an extra furlong in trip…. WINNER

3.35 St Leger Stakes… Group 1… 3YO Only… 1m 6f 115yds…

Logican is 4 from 4 having stepped up from Class 3 Novice Company to land the Great Voltigeur Stakes, Group 2 at York in impressive fashion and has looked every inch a very progressive horse when taking the step up in trip from 1m 2f to 1m 4f with ease and now needs to step up again to 1m 6f. Is he the same as Too Darn Hot last season, who finished 2nd to Kew Gardens in this race? He is joint top rated at 115 with El Pardadiso, who was 3rd of 4 to Stradivarius in the 2m Londsdale Cup at York having landed a 2m Handicap at the Curragh in July. He will stay and is also a big player… But I like the look of SIR RON PREISTLEY, who I have followed with interest. Having risen from Class 5 Novice company at Ripon back in April when stepping up in trip from 1m to 1m 4f. Has won a pair of Class 2 1m6f Handicaps before stepping up to Group company to land the 1m 6f Group3 March Stakes by 1 & 1/2 lengths and deserves a crack at this level…. 2ND

Leopardstown…..

4.15 Irish Champion Stakes… Group 1… 1m 2f…

Magical…. Having finished behind Enable 5 times and twice this season it is now time for Magical to shine. Having won a Group 3 at Naas on season return & a Group 2 & 1 at the Curragh already this season over 1m 2f. Finished runner up to Crystal Ocean and the last 2 runs behind Enable, including last time out in the Yorkshire Oaks at York. It is no disgrace to be runner up to the highest rated race horse in the world & now Magical can land one without Enable!

That is everything for you today folks, like yesterday the blog will be updated with results as the day goes along… Thanks for popping by & as always we really appreciate your support…

Doncaster & More

Welcome to arseonlineracing. A 100% independent racing website curated by 2 racing enthusiasts with NO affiliate links. Charlie hails from Glasgow while Rich is from the Isle of Wight, miles apart but united by the sport of kings…

This is the prelude to a cracking weekends racing with the St Leger on Saturday at Doncaster, the Irish Champions Weekend over both days & on Sunday the Prix Foy at Longchamp….

We will be joined by @Glen_Colt aka Jamie over the weekend for the Irish Champions meeting, so we are looking forward to that. Today is just Charlie & Rich, so we best get started….

Charlie –

3.45 – Doncaster – A’Ali -Was beaten a neck by Spartan Fighter on debut over 5f at Ripon on the 5th June, was then sent to Ascot for next race and won beating Ventura Rebel by a neck over 5f in a Group2. Next race was over in France and saw A’Ali tackle another Group 2 at Deauville when landing the Darley Prix Robert Papin from My Loves Passion who was 3/4 of a length behind in 2nd. A’Ali stayed in France for next race when finishing 5th behind Earthlight at Deauville on the 18th August on heavy ground. A’Ali has been in great form this far with the only blip coming on heavy ground last time out and is taken today to get back on the winning trail, main danger comes in the shape of Alligator Alley who has won 2 times from last 3 runs.

Win Advised – WINNER

.

5.35 – Sandown – Skyman -Non Runner no replacement.

.

6.10 – Salisbury – Devil’s Roc -Won a Class 5 handicap at Bath last time out over 5f and 160y, beating Leo Minor by 3 and 1/4 lengths. Escapes with no penalty for that win and If turning up in same mood could easily go in again here in a very weak looking race.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks Charlie, looking forward to a fantastic weekends racing and hopefully we can kick it off with a few winners… Doncaster for me today, where the going is Good to Firm….

Hey folks, Charlie is away having family time this weekend so it will just be myself with a bumper blog. I have plenty for you for Saturday & a bonus of Longchamp on Sunday is one blog. Last Saturdays results were updated on the blog as the day progressed and it is likely to be the same again this weekend.
We have been very active behind the scenes working on Interviews and articles and only produce a blog when we feel we have enough to publish, hence why a bumper edition instead of 2 posts….

2.05 September Stakes… Group 3… 1m 4f...
Best Solution landed the Cauldfield Cup(Australia) last October having won the Preis Von Baden(Baden Baden) last September on season return but is 1 from 2 on the All Weather and is potentially a top class horse BUT my PREFERENCE is for Mootasidir, who was6 from 6 on the All Weather until finishing down the field when stepped up to 2m in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle. He is 2 from 2 at this course and drops back in trip having won a Listed race at this course on March 30th…. Runner Up

Motawaj…. C&D winner by 3 & 1/2 lengths on July 10th when landing a Class 5 Handicap before taking a 1m Sandown Class 4 Handicap by 6 lengths. Lost his action last time out at Newmarket when stepping up to this class and if all well is a potential Improver…. 3rd

2.50 Prix Du Moulin De Longchamp… Group 1… 1m….
Obligate… Was a 2 length 3rd to Laurens in the Prix Rothschild Group 1 at Deauville on July 28th having won twice at Chantilly prior to that day. A 3 & 1/2 length Listed win in May before taking the Prix De Sandringham(Fillies’) by a head. She receives her fillies’ allowance today and could run a big race…
Another of interest is Shaman, who has only ran one below par race this season at Ascot, when a 3 & 1/2 length 5th to Circus Maximus(Top Rated118)  and was runner up last time out in the Prix Du Haras De Fresnay to Romanised(117) by 1 & 1/4 lengths on August 11th at Deauville, both are in the field today… But I do really like OBLIGATE!
