Most recent run was 2nd at Redcar over 5f in May goes back up to 6f today and ground is suitable and can gain compensation in this slightly easier race.

.Iron Blue – 7th and was a loss.

.Scorching Heat – 3rd and was a loss.

. Not the day I had planned with only one winner to show for my efforts. Hopefully get a better run for our money with Saturday’s selections but before that it’s back over to Rich for his ones to note…

I have made quite a few notes for Saturday, but would be here all day if I mentioned them……  But here’s a couple I like….

Down Royal – 2.35 – Miss Power – Was a non runner last week, when stable mate didn’t run too well, has decent form, with a win & runner up spot & fast ground will be an advantage

.

Gowran – 2.50 – Le Richebourg – Won well last time & I think will go really well now has a win under the belt, Danny Mullins is on board.

.

Finally….. I like Jessica Harrington’s Tilly’s Chilli at Down Royal(3.45) Has won 3 on the bounce & can go well in the Ulster Derby, won last season by Stellar Mass, who is at Ascot tomorrow!

Thanks enough from me as I have plenty more but won’t bore ya all… Over to Charlie now.

Charlie’s Selections

aviary-image-1498295943384

.

.The Tin Man – Consistent type who has 2 wins a 2nd and a 5th from last four races. Recent 5th behind Tasleet isn’t a big concern as he was carrying a 5lb penalty. Ground is not a concern and if going a good pace could well hose up at a reasonable price.

Win Advised

.

.Whoyakodding – Was a decent 3rd over 2m 4f at Listowel last time out. Drop in distance and the application of Cheekpieces point to a bold run and at 6-1 I’m more than happy to take that price.

Win Advised

.

.Merlin – Has won last 2 races and is vying for the hat-trick today. Remains progressive and could be ahead of the handicapper and at 15-8 is definitely worth the punt.

Win Advised

.

Away from the Group races at Ascot, there is still plenty of racing going on & Rich has found a couple of interest at Newmarket in the evening –

6.35 – Novice Stakes – Class 4 – 2YO Only – 6f

This will possibly be between Invincible Army, who was 2nd on debut by a short head & that race has yielded a couple of next time out winners & Tribal Quest for Charlie Appleby, who has a 2YO SR of 44% this year, with 11 winners from 25 runners.

8.35 – Maiden – Class 4 – 3YO Only – 1m 2f

Playwriter – 3rd on debut over 1m at Redcar in April, 2nd that day Merlin, has since won twice……

That’s all from Rich today, just a quick note, that Orderofthegarter, was 2nd to Benbtl at Ascot, while another of my 5 to follow Dabyah, faces a tough task in the Coronation Stakes, up against Duel Guineas winner Winter & French Guineas winner Precieuse ….. Finger’s crossed!

Now it’s over to Charlie for his selections…

Charlie’s Selections

.aviary-image-1498173918650

.

.Iron Blue – Unraced daughter of Ravens Pass trained by Kevin Prendergast and looks very interesting on paper. It’s worth a market check prior to race as 8-1 seems a bit juicy to me going on breeding alone but will be going in my tracker regardless of the debut run.

.Scorching Heat – Has 2 wins and has placed 2nd twice in last 5 runs looks the one to beat here and I’m happy to take the 5-2 on offer.
