There is still plenty of racing today, with Newbury, Doncaster and the Leopardstoiwn Christmas festival still running, these are just a few of the meetings today, with so much choice we may not have covered everything, but we have given it a good go…

Charlie has his Saturday Selections while Rich will have the Final Word, so lets get cracking….

Loug Derg Farmer 🌟🌟-Was 5th on seasonal return on the 17th October at Wetherby over 3m 2f in a Class 3 Handicap Hurdle. Was then sent to Sedgefield on the 1st November to race over 3m 2f in a Class 3 Novice Chase  and finished 3rd. Next up was a trip to Uttoxeter on the 25th November over 3m 2f in a Class 4 Handicap Chase and finished 2nd. Most recent run was at Carlisle on the 16th December in a Class 3 Handicap Chase and finished 2nd beaten 1/2 length by Nakadam. Lough Derg Farmer has been holding it’s form well of late and is taken to get the win here if turning up in same shape as last time out when only narrowly beaten at Carlisle.

Win Advised

.

Militarian 🌟🌟-Was 2nd on seasonal return at Hexam on the 9th November over 3m in a Class 4 Novice Chase. Was then sent to Taunton 20 days later to race over 2m 7f in a Class 4 Novice Chase and won beating Lex Talionis by 9 lengths. Was then sent to Fakenham for next race stepping up in Class for first attempt at a Handicap Chase and won the Class 3 Handicap Chase beating Forth Bridge by 3/4 of a length. Although has extra weight due to those wins Militarian still looks to be progressing and there could be more to come.

Win Advised

.

Enniscoffey Oscar 🌟🌟-Finished 5th on season return at Chepstow over 3m in a Class 3 Novice Chase on the 14th October. Was then sent to Kempton on the 12th November to contest a Class 3 Chase over 3m and finished 2nd to Reigning Supreme who won by 9l. Has won over hurdles here in the past and with cheekpieces reapplied today should have too much class for this field.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for The Final Word.

.

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks Charlie, plenty to go through so lets get started….

Newbury… Good to Soft….

12.40 Introductory Hurdle… Class 4… 2m 69yds…

Champagne Platinum… Made rules debut on December 1st at Newcastle in a 2m C4 maiden, winning by 1 & 3/4 lengths and has to give 5Lb to most of the field….

1.15 Novice Chase… Class 3… 2m 92yds…

Another Crick… Runner up on the last 2 starts having been beaten 1/2 a length on chase debut over 2m in a C3 novice chase and then 1/2 a length last time out over 1m 7f at Southwell in a C3 novice chase, that form has been boosted with 4th & 5th both since winning….

3.00 Challow Novice Hurdle…. Grade1 … 2m 4f 118yds…

Champ…. Won at Perth & Warwick back in May in C4 hurdles before taking a break. Returned over C/D to land a C2 handicap hurdle by 4 & 1/2 lengths and with 4th since winning a C1 Listed hurdle contest, that form is pretty decent. Top rated 150…

The DANGER could well come from Alsa Mix… who is 2 from 2 over hurdles after making a winning debut at Exeter before landing a Sandown Mares’ Grade 2 contest over 2m 3f and receives 7Lb sex allowance from the field….

Doncaster… Good…

2.05 Silver Vase Mares’ Chase… Class 1 Listed…. 2m 4f 115yds…

Drinks Interval… The front runner drops back from 2m 7f to 2m 4f and has won 3 of her 6 starts in this sphere. Although finishing a 14 length runner up over 2m 7f on December 19th in a C1 Listed race at Newbury, the drop in trip could well be the right decision…

The DANGER could well come from Lady Buttons… A 2 & 1/4 length winner in a Newbury C2 2m handicap chase on December 1st and now steps up in trip….

Leopardstown… Good…

1.30 Mares’ Hurdle… Grade 3… 2m 4f…

Limini… Had been running on the flat this summer, winning once. Made hurdles return in the Hattons Grace Grade1 2m 4f on December 2nd finishing 3rd to Apple’s Jade, who routed the field by 20 lengths. Now drops in Grade and should have too much for this field baring any mishaps….

1.35 Novice Chase… Grade 1… 3m…

Delta Work.. Looks the one to beat in this race having won both starts this season and won the Fairyhouse Grade 1 novice chase by 1/2 a length from Le Richebourg, who has since won a Grade 1 at this festival on Boxing day….

The DANGER could come from Judgement Day… Who is 3 from 4 starts in this sphere and was a last time out winner by 2 & 1/2 lengths at Punchestown and now steps up in trip….

2.30 Ryanair Hurdle… Grade 1… 2m…

Samcro … Is still the one to beat despite finishing runner up on both starts so far this season and was beaten by Buveur D’air in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle last time out…

The DANGER could come from Supasundae… The Punchestown Champion Hurdle winner in April started this season finishing runner up to Apple’s Jade by 20 lengths in the Hattons Grade on seasonal debut and could well serve it up to Samcro….

Limerick…. Good to Soft…

2.10 Novice Hurdle… Grade 2…. 3m…

Defi Bleu…. Beaten 1 length on seasonal return, Defi won next time out in a 2m 4f maiden at Navan on November 25th before a 6 & 1/4 length 3rd last time out when finishing6 & 1/4 lengths back in a Grade 1 novice hurdle to Easy Game but the step up in trip could well be in his favour….

The DANGER could well come from Dorrells Pierji who has won 2 out of 3 starts this season over 2m 4f . A game winner at Galway last time out on October 28th over 2m 4f, now steps up in trip….

That is everything for you today folks… Thanks very much for popping by & visiting our site.

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Midweek Crackers….

Hello & welcome to arseonlinetips. A 100% independent racing website brought to you by 2 racing enthusiasts from either end of the British Isles. Charlie hails from Glasgow while Rich is from the Isle of Wight, miles apart but united by the sport of kings…

Where do we start after a fantastic days racing on Boxing day??? I think congratulations should go to Paul Nicholls & Harry Cobdon with the fantastic winner of the King George Chase…. While it was nice to see Thistlecrack run a corker too….

While some of you head back to work, there is still plenty of racing and today is no different, so let’s crack on & see what we have for you today… Charlie has his selections while we go Head to Head in the Welsh Grand National and then Rich will have the Final Word, so lets get started….

Charlie

2018-12-27-11-48-23

Rocku -Recently changed yards to D Skelton and finished 3rd on debut for new trainer at Market Rasen last time out over 2m7f some 5 lengths behind The Manuscript. Steps back up in distance to 3m 26y today and with that run under the belt is sure to improve for new connections in a very winnable race.

Win Advised

.

Princess Salamah -Made a fair impression on debut at Kempton over 1m when making late headway to run on for 3rd after looking quite green in early stage, with normal progression should fair better here with that run under the belt and Ralph Beckett could get the win here at second time of asking.

Win Advised

.

Head to Head….

Chepstow… 2.50 Welsh Grand National Handicap Chase… Grade 3… 3m 5f 110yds..

Rich … Looksnowtlikebrian… Arrives here on the back of 2 wins from 2 starts since making seasonal return on October 18th, when landing a 3m C3 handicap chase by 1 length at Carlisle before returning to the same venue when stepping up in trip to 3m 2f to land a C3 handicap chase on November 4th by 10 lengths, steps up in trip again today and looking for 3 wins on the trot…

Charlie … Vieux Lion Rouge – Has been a tad disappointing of late although has only had 3 runs in 2018, first of those was at Ascot in February and finished 4th over 3m. Next up was the Grand National at Aintree when Vieux Lion Rouge finished 6th. Went back to Aintree in December after having wind surgery and finished 2nd over 3m 2f. Normally has cheekpieces on but they are replaced by blinkers today and that could do the trick.

Well that’s the Welsh National out the way it’s time to move on to The Final Word and you can read Rich’s thoughts below.

Final Word with Rich….

Thanks Charlie, yesterday never went the way either of us though so we just have to dust ourselves down and go again….

Chepstow… Soft…

1.35… Juvenile Hurdle… Grade 1 3YO Only…. 2m…

Adjali… Was a 13 length winner on UK hurdle debut at Market Rasen on December 6th when landing a C4 2m Juvenile Hurdle. The French bred runner goes for Nicky Henderson, who won this race last season….

The DANGER could come from Quel Destin who is a two time Grade 2 winner already in the UK and like Adjaili is French bred. He landed the JCB Trial Grade 2 2m hurdle at Cheltenham on November 17th before taking the Summit 2m Grade 2 hurdle at Doncaster last time out on December 15th…

2.10 Handicap Hurdle… Class 2… 2m 7f 131yds…

Another Emotion… A 6 length runner up on season return in heavy going at Sandown on December 8th in a C2 handicap hurdle, won on 2nd start back in April….

Kempton…. Good to Soft…

1.20 Wayward Lad Novice Chase… Grade 2… 2m…

Kalashnikov… Is 2 from 2 in this sphere and steps up from |Class 3 company today. The former Supreme runner up was a facile 18 length winner last time out at Plumpton when landing a C3 novice chase on December 3rd and now takes his chance at the top table. He receives 5Lb from Dingo Dollars who was a last time out winner and Maria’s Diamond, who was also a last time out winner receives 7Lb from Dingo Dollars, after winning a Mares’ C1 Listed race to take her chase total to 2 from 2, the only danger to Kalashnikov is himself….

2.30 Desert Orchid Chase… Grade 2… 2m…

Altior…. Was not at his best to sweep past Un De Sceaux at Sandown to land the Tingle Creek by 4 lengths on seasonal appearance, he now has to defend his unbeaten record of 16/0 in both hurdles & chase runs under rules and like Kalashnikov can only beat himself… Front running Special Tiara was 3rd on seasonal return at Cork on December 9th while Sprededek was a 1& 3/4 length runner up in a C2 handicap 2m 1f chase at Ascot in November and neither are in the same class as Altior….

Leopardstown… Good…

1.15 Sugar Daddy Chase… Grade 1… 2m 1f…

There are at least 3 or 4 in with a shout in this race so lets have a look at them…. Top Rated at 166 is Footpad, was unbeaten in his first year chasing when landing the Arkle at Cheltenham and then the Ryanair at Punchestown. Footpad made seasonal return on November 10th but fell when back in 2nd and more is expected today…

Ballyoisin was a 23 length winner on November 11th to take his total to 3 wins from 3 chase runs in 2018 when landing a Grade 2 at Navan…

That takes us to Great Field, who like Footpad was unbeaten in his debut chase season of 2017, when landing the Ryanair at Punchestown but only made 1 appearance between April 2017 & March 2018, when landing the Webster Chase Cup at Navan & like Footpad, fell on seasonal return after 3 fences at Cork on December 9th in a race that was won by Castlegrace Paddy, who was 5th to Footpad in the Punchestown Ryanair but landed the Cork race by 16 lengths…. As I say anyone of these could win, but if the Footpad we know from last season turns up it could well be the two ton green that lands the spoils from the green & gold!

That is everything for you today folks, apart from a huge thanks to everyone who read yesterdays blog and our King George IV Chase History/Stats article, we really appreciate your support…

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Boxing Day Bonanza….

Hello and welcome to arseonlinetips. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support this year and wish you all a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

This website is curated by 2 racing enthusiasts from either end of the British Isles, Charlie hails from Glasgow while Rich is from the Isle of Wight, miles apart but united by the sport of kings….

Blimey there is a lot of racing on today… Plenty to choose from that is for certain.. Charlie has his Boxing day Bonanza selections while Rich will have the Final Word…. Oh and we a wee King George Head to Head…

Charlie – I have 5 selections for boxing day not including the h2h with Rich for the King George, these won’t count towards profit/loss figures but I feel that takes a bit of pressure off and hopefully will be a profitable day as a result of a more relaxed mindset, anyway enough of my rambling let’s get down to business.

Kempton – 1.20

Loug Derg Spirit – Trained by Champion Trainer Nicky Henderson, Loug Derg Spirit won last time out when tackling fences for the first time at Wetherby over 2m 3f, although did make a couple of minor mistakes but still managed to win by 7 lengths. Nicky Henderson has won 3 of the last 8 renewals and looks in a nice position to make that 4.

Win Advised

.

Huntingdon – 1.40

San Pedro De Senam – Made a reasonable return from summer break taking 3rd place at Fontwell in a Class 3 Handicap Hurdle over 2m 2f on the 18th November. Next race was on the 9th December over 2m 5f at Huntingdon in a Class 4 Conditions Hurdle beating Trigger Nichol by 1 and 1/2 lengths. Although has been raised 6 lbs is partnered with N Houlihan who claims 10lb and was onboard for that win at Fontwell.

Win Advised

.

Sedgefield – 2.05

Duke Of Kilcorral -Finished 2nd at Fontwell over 2m 3f in Class 4 Handicap Hurdle in  March, returned to Fontwell in April and finished 2nd again over 2m 3f in a Class 4 Novice hurdle. Was then rested until making a reappearance at Chepstow on the 21st November over 2m 3f in a Class 5 Maiden Hurdle beating Nativegetaway by a neck. Still looks on a workable mark and with normal progress could go in again biggest danger comes in the shape of Sheriff Garrett who has a similar profile.

Win Advised

.

Market Rasen – 2.55

Du Destin -Although without a win this season has ran quite well without threatening. Was 7th when last seen at Kempton over 2m in a Class 4 Novice Hurdle in April this year. Has undergone wind surgery since then and Nicky Henderson has been very patient to get this one ready and it’s his only runner at this meeting and with J McGrath doing the steering hopefully make it a winning choice for the Champion trainer.

Win Advised

.

Wincanton – 3.45

Sleight Of Hand -Debutant for Nicky Henderson is a gelding out of Kalanisi and Katayira is related to Kalarika and has undergone wind surgery prior to debut, biggest danger comes from the Paul Nicholls trained Flic Ou Voyou who won last time out at Wincanton over 1m 7f .

Win Advised

.

Now that’s the main selections out of the way it’s now time for Rich and me to go Head to Head in the King George VI Chase who has the winner I guess you gotta read on to find that out.

.King George VI(3.05 Kempton) Head to Head….

Rich …. Coneygree – Having won over C/D when landing the Kauto Star Novice Chase in 2014 and his troubles have been well documented. After pulling up in 2017, he was nursed back to health and at one point, most were calling for retirement(Yes myself included). The owners know the horse best and in the summer he had Wind Surgery and returned over 3m 3f on November 17th in the Grade 3 Handicap Chase at Cheltenham. The front runner showed no signs of any of the previous issues when only being caught late on to finish an 8 & 1/2 length 3rd to Rock the Kasbah. This was the first race Coneygree had finished since coming 3rd to Sizing John in the Punchestown Gold Cup in April 2017 and this is the second run after the wind surgery. I am not saying Coneygree will win, but with 3 places up for grabs, a place is a distinct possibility and we will soon know if the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner still has it!

js85271486
Thistlecrack is in the field… Can he win it again?

Charlie –What a race we have here, on paper looks like the strongest field we have seen for sometime, although there are some questions left unanswered in regards to form for most of the runners entered, where the winner comes from will be down to experience and class with a little luck thrown in for good measure. I had this down to a possible 4 contenders Might Bite last year’s winner who has been in fantastic form, was beaten into 2nd in the Cheltenham Gold Cup back in March by Native River, before going to Aintree and winning The Betway Bowl Chase beating Bristol De Mai by 7 lengths. Those three would meet again at Haydock in The Betfair Chase on the 24th November where Might Bite finished last and Bristol De Mai beat Native River by 4 lengths. I feel that there’s unfinished business between those 3 and if Thistlecrack turns up in same shape as last time when finishing 3rd behind Bristol De Mai and Native River in the Betfair Chase at Haydock it’s bound to be a cracking renewal. Might Bite for me looks more like the winner again here, winning the race last year and although had a poor show on reappearance at Haydock that can be forgiven as this race was the intended target after last year’s heroics.

I will now hand you back over to Rich for The Final Word.

.

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks Charlie, lets hope it’s a good one… Just Kempton from me and what a card we have…..

Kempton… Good to Soft…

12.50 Novice Hurdle… Class 2… 2m…

Thomas Darby… With one win and one runner up spot from 2 hurdles runs since October 28th. The win came at Cheltenham in a C3 2m maiden hurdle when beating Elixir De Nutz by 3 & 1/4 lengths, who has since gone on to win a the Grade 2 Supreme Novice trial. Thomas Darby was a runner up last time out, carrying the penalty for the win in a C2 2m Introductory hurdle , going down by a head to Didtheyleaveuoutto, who is in the field today & Thomas has 3Lb on that rival now.. The others to watch out for are The Big Bite and Didtheyleaveuoutto, who are both 2 wins from 2 runs….

1.55 Kauto Star Novice Chase… Grade 1… 3m…

Bags Groove… Was runner up on chase debut back in May and was given a break. Making seasonal return at Ffos Las in a 2m 4f C3 Novice Chase winning by 2 lengths. Next up was the Grade 2 2m 4f Rising Stars’ Novice Chase by 9 lengths from Secret Investor and then made it 3 wins from 4 chases tarts when landing the Huntingdon C3 2m 4f Novice Chase from Thomas Campbell by 9 lengths.

Bags Groove is joint top rated at 155 with The Worlds End, who is 2 wins from 3 chase starts and was a facile winner(26 lengths) of a C2 3m 1f Novice chase at Cheltenham on December 14th, while Santini is rated 152 and won the John Francome 2m 7f Grade 3 Novice Chase on season return & chase debut by 4 lengths on December 1st from Rocky Treasure, who has since won the Doncaster 3m December Grade 2 Novice Chase. We cannot forget La Bague Au Roi, who is 2 from 2 over fences this term and is also a Grade 2 winner on November 30th, when landing the 2m 3f Berkshire Novice Chase at Newbury…

This is a cracking race and anyone of these 4 can win the trophy….

2.30 Christmas Hurdle… Grade 1… 2m….

Buveur D’air… Is back to defend the crown he won from last season by 2 & 1/4 lengths from The New One, the Contenders C1 listed Hurdle & the Champion Hurdle followed before having wind surgery in the summer. Making seasonal reappearance a winning one at Newcastle on December 1st when taking the Fighting Fifth Hurdle by 8 lengths from Samcro and can still get better… So what fills the places if Buveur D’air wins, I hear you say… If The Cap Fits spent 2017 unbeaten with 3 wins from 3 hurdle runs but was runner up on seasonal return to Verdana Blue at Wincanton but landed the Ascot Hurdle(Grade 2) on November 24th from Old Guard by 1 & 1/2 lengths… Global Citizen is like If The Cap Fits as was runner up on seasonal return before landing the C1 Listed Intermediate Hurdle(2m) at Newbury on December 1st. Verdana Blue was 4th last time out in a Grade 3 Greatwood at Cheltenham and cannot be ruled but I think If The Cap Fits is likely to get the closest of the field to Buveur D’air…….

That is everything for you folks, a massive thank you to you all for popping by and taking the time to read our blogs/interviews/articles…

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Tis the Saturday before Christmas

Hello and welcome to arseonlinetips. A 100% independent racing website with NO affiliate links & brought to you by 2 racing enthusiasts from either end of the British Isles. Charlie hails from Glasgow, while Rich is from the Isle of Wight, miles apart but united by the sport of kings….

Tis the Saturday before Christmas and that can only mean one thing…. the Long Walk Hurdle and only a few days left before the mass racing on Boxing day with the King George as one of the major highlights and what a field we have this year…

Before we get to those delights we have the big day and todays racing to get through, so lets see what we have for you?

Charlie has his Saturday Selections while Rich will have the Final Word.. So lets crack on!

Charlie –

2018-12-22-11-19-59

Ballymoy 🌟🌟-Won 4 on the spin before finishing 4th in a Class 1 listed race at Newbury over 2m on the 1st of December. Steps up in trip to 2m 2f and this doesn’t look as competitive as last time and if handling the extra yardage should gain compensation here.

Win Advised

.

Call Me Lord 🌟🌟- Hasn’t been out of the first 3 places in last 5 runs and that includes winning twice at Sandown. First win at Sandown came on the 6th of January over 2m in a Class 2 handicap hurdle. Placed 3rd at Wincanton over 1m 7f in a Class 1 Group 2 hurdle on the 17th February. Was then 2nd at Sandown in March in a Class 1 Group 3 handicap hurdle over 2m. Returned to Sandown on the 28th April and won a Class 1 Group 2 hurdle over 2m 5f. Steps up to 3m and 97y today and if in same mindset as last time out should have too much class for this field.

Win Advised

.

Political Policy 🌟🌟 -Mostly known for his exploits at Dundalk, however has shown some promise over hurdles mainly by winning a Maiden Hurdle at Bellewston and a Conditions Hurdle at Downpatrick back in July. Was a fair 3rd last time out at Market Rasen behind a useful hurdler over 2m 1f. If repeating the run shown last time out that may be enough to land this race.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

.

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks Charlie, lets hope this is a smashing weekend before Christmas, so lets get started…. We will start at Ascot, head to Haydock then to the All Weather at Lingfield….

Ascot…. Soft, heavy in places…

1.15 Graduation Chase… Class 2… 2m 5f 8yds..

Activial… Changed yards from Neil Mulholland to Tom George in the summer and made yard debut in a 2m 3f Handicap Chase on November 1st at Stratford, finishing 2nd by a neck. A winner last time out on November 24th at Haydock over 2m 5f 127yds in a class 2 Graduation Chase, winning by 16 lengths and 3rd has since won a class 3 Beginners Chase next time out… The DANGER could come from Kildsart, who was a 1/2 length runner up on chase debut at this course on November 23rd in a C3 2m 2f 175yd novice chase…

1.50 Handicap Chase…. Class 2… 2m 2f 175yds…

Janika… Has won 3 of the last 4 chase starts over in France after finishing runner up on chase debut and has now moved to Nicky Henderson and makes UK debut …. The DANGER could come from Magic Saint… who was a 16 length runner up to Activial in a 2m 5f chase and now drops back to a winning distance when in France….

Unowhatimeanharry…. Returned to form last time out on his second run after having a wind operation to land the Long Distance 3m hurdle at Newbury on November 30th. Won this race in 2016 and finished 3rd to Sam spinner in this last season…. The DANGER could come from Call Me Lord… Who makes seasonal return and steps up in trip. Last seen in April at Sandown when landing the Grade 2 Select Hurdle by 16 lengths over 2m 5f, it is worth noting that Call Me Lord is just one of 3 runners for trainer Nicky Henderson, with Top Notch & Soul Emotion the other stable runners in the field….

Haydock… Soft, heavy in places….

1.00 Mares’ Novice Hurdle… Class 1 Listed.. 2m 2f 191yds…

Queenohearts…. Sandown Listed Bumper winner back in March, finished runner up on hurdle debut on November 21st in a 2m 3f C5 maiden hurdle at Chepstow, finishing only 1 & 1/2 lengths behind the winner in a field of 14. Form has been boosted with 3rd, 4th & 5th all since winning next time out….

Lingfield(AW)… Standard…

2.15 Quebeck Stakes… Class 1 Listed… 1m 2f…

Wissahickon… The Cambridgeshire winner is also a C/D winner and was last seen winning the C2 Cambridgeshire(1m 1f) at Newmarket by 3 & 3/4 lengths in September and is the one to beat today…

2.50 Handicap… Class 2… 1m 4f…

Redicean… The 2m Grade 2 winning hurdler was a 1/2 length winner last time out on the All Weather at Wolverhampton over 1m 4f in a C4 handicap. Rated 149 over hurdles but runs from a mark of just 89 on the artificial surface……

Thanks for popping by folks, we really appreciate your support and would like to take this chance to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a prosperous new year…

Final Word Navan Special

The International meeting didn’t go as we had expected but hats off to Frodon for that weight carrying performance and Happy Retirement to The New One, who has had a fantastic career and deserves to enjoy the rest of his life…. We would also like to wish Leighton & Adrian speedy recoveries from their injuries

Now we move on & it will soon be the King George at Kempton on Boxing day…..

Navan… Yielding….

12.00 Maiden Hurdle… 2m…

Momus… Bumper(NHF) winner at Roscommon in May this year before taking a break and returning in October. Made hurdles debut at Galway over 2m 3f finishing a 4 & 3/4 length 3rd. Improved on that run by finishing 2 & 3/4 length runner up to the impressive Defi Bleu at this course over 2m 4f on November 25th and now drops back in trip…

The DANGER could come from Battleoverdoyen… Who was an expensive purchase having won a 3m Loughannore Point to Point by 3 lengths back in April. Won on rules debut in a 2m Punchestown Bumper(NHF) on November 28th by 6 & 1/2 lengths and now makes hurdle debut….

12.30 Novice Hurdle… Grade 2… 2m 4f….

Defi Bleu… Was rather chucked in at the deep end last season when making hurdles debut in a Grade 2 2m race at this course, finishing last & 16 & 1/2 lengths behind the winner last February. Put away for the winter and returned at Down Royal on November 3rd in a 2m maiden & finished 1 length runner up. Won last time out at short odds over C/D on November 25th by 2 & 3/4 lengths from Momus…

The DANGERS could come from… Easy Game... Who has 3wins from 5 hurdle starts and landed a C/D Grade 3 hurdle by a neck on November 25th and Monbeg Worldwide... who is 2 wins from 3 starts over hurdles this season, 9 length 5th on season return was quickly followed by a Fairyhouse 2m 4f maiden win and last time out at the same course to win a Novice hurdle by a neck…

1.00 Handicap Hurdle… Grade B… 2m 4f..

Ball D’arc… Is a Grade2 & Listed winning hurdler who has spent the last season or two chasing & the 158 rated chaser returns over hurdles on season return from a mark of 140, so could be well in on his season return….

That is everything for you today folks, as always thanks for popping by & your continued support.. It really means a lot to us

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

Cheltenham… The International Meeting Day 2….

It was an interesting first day at Prestbury Park, with some favourites winning, some being turned over and a couple of cracking finishes. Expect more of the same today, with thrills, spills and belly ache pills into the mix…. There are 2 graded races on the card today as well as some very competitive handicap races, so let’s get cracking …..

Charlie has his selections and Rich will have the Final Word…

Charlie –

Cheltenham 12.10 – Fret D’estreval – Won twice over in France and is now in the care of Alan King and should be capable of winning at this level. Although there are a few dangers in this race in the shape of Nelson River, Fanfan Du Seuil and katpoli. However i think that Alan Kings charge will show the way in this wide open race.

Win Advised

.

Cheltenham 12.45 – Jenkins -Doesn’t need any introduction as he has been around for what seems like forever. Trained by Nicky Henderson, Jenkins won a Class 4 Chase at Stratford over 2m 3f in October. Was then sent here to contest a Class 2 Novice Chase over 2m and 4f in November. If fully recovered from that 4th here in November, could have too much class for this field but will need a bit of luck in running and a clearer round of jumping to take this race.

Win Advised

.

Cheltenham 2.30 – Doux Pretender -Is another exciting youngster who is trained by Nicky Henderson, this lightly raced novice has won last two starts taking his tally to two wins from 4 starts over hurdles. Those two wins came at Towcester over 2m 3f back in May before being rested until November when he made a winning return at Ascot over 2m 6f beating Stoney Mountain by a head. If repeating form shown in last two races could have too much for this field and give Nicky Henderson another welcome winner at the home of jumps races.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks Charlie, yesterday was an ok day for this column, with Elixir De Nutz winning & Jarveys runner up in the opener, sadly Lil Rockerfeller unseated his rider and that was just one of them things. Rock the Kasbah ran below par and I think the extra distance did for Theatre Territory when finishing 4th, while Josies Orders ran on for 3rd and will definitely be spot on for the Festival in March… That was yesterday, today I have 4 for you with both Graded races covered…..

Cheltenham…. Good to Soft

12.10 JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial… Juvenile Hurdle… Class 2… 3YO Only… 2m 170yds…

Katpoli… Was a 6 length winner on UK debut having come over from France, that win was at Huntingdon in a C4 Juvenile Hurdle over 2m before stepping up in the JCB Triumph hurdle, Grade 2 over C/D when finishing a 4 length 4th to Quel Destin on November 17th….

12.45 Novice Chase…. Class 2… 2m 4f 127yds…

Le Breuil… Beaten a neck in a C2 Novice Chase at this course on November 16th, that was just his second start over bigger fences having won a match race on Chase debut by 18 lengths on November 4th at Huntingdon. The C2 Chase here has yielded 2 winners, with Mr Whipped(Class 2) and Jerrysback(Class4) winning next time out. Le Breuil contested a Grade 2 Newbury Chase on December 1st, finishing a 7 & 3/4 lengths 3rd to Santini over 2m 7f and now drops in class & trip…

1.55 Gold Cup Handicap Chase… Grade 3 Class 1… 2m 4f 127yds…

Baron Alco… Has 12Lb on Frodon today and finished 2 lengths in front in the BV Gold Cup at the November meeting(17th) over 2m 4f 44yds and while there is a little extra yardage, Baron was well on top at the finish and it is unlikely that it will make any difference today…

That said the DANGER could come from Rather Be, who was in contention in the BV Gold Cup, when he was brought down 4 from the finish and has some unfinished business as that was his first run of the season….

3.05 International Hurdle… Grade 2 Class 1… 2m 179yds..

We Have A Dream… Was unbeaten last season, winning all 4 runs, that run was ended by Veranda Blue, when dropping back from 2m to 1m 7f in the Grade 2 Elite Hurdle at Wincanton on season return on November 10th. That was followed by a step up in trip to 2m 3f in the Grade 2 Ascot Hurdle, finishing 4th to If The Cap Fits. Now is back to his trip of 2m, with 2 wins from 2 runs over this distance last season, this trip could revitalise him and see the best of We Have a Dream….

That is everything for you today folks, thank you all for your support we really appreciate it…

Cheltenham… The International Meeting

Hello and welcome to arseonlinetips. A 100% independent racing website with NO affiliate links & brought to you by 2 racing enthusiasts from either end of the British Isles. Charlie hails from Glasgow, while Rich is from the Isle of Wight, miles apart but united by the sport of kings….

Over at Arse HQ, we have been looking through the cards on a daily basis but have not found anything that we would consider worth blogging, so that is the reason we have not posted anything all week and decided to keep our powder dry until Cheltenham today….

So Charlie will have his selections while Rich, will have the final word….. Let’s get cracking….

Charlie

2018-12-14-07-52-57

Theatre Territory 🌟🌟-Has finished in the places in every race since December 2017, including a fair 2nd here last time out over 3m in November only losing by 1 length to Ibis Du Rheu. That was first run after wind surgery and although is taking a slight increase in distance to 3m 2f, she still looks well treated based on previous form and if handling the extra distance could gain compensation in this race.

Win Advised

.

Worthy Farm 🌟🌟 -Still ran a bit green on fourth racecourse outing last time out at Taunton, even though he won over 3m he was idling in the closing stages but still managed to beat Rosemary Russet by a neck. Drops back down in trip to 2m 7f and 213y and if turning up in same mood as last time out should be thereabouts at business end of race.

Win Advised

.

Pipes Of Peace 🌟🌟 -Simply loves it here having placed 2nd and 3rd before winning here on the 19th of November over 1m 3f. Has since finished 4th here in a Class 1 listed race over 1m 4f last time out. Takes a drop in Class today and with future mark being 11lb higher it looks as though connections are going for one last win before the increase rating kicks in.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

Final Word with Rich

Cheers Charlie, i’m sure the break has done us the world of good, so let’s see what we have for you all today from Prestbury Park….

Cheltenham… Good to Soft…

12.10 Novice Hurdle… Class 3… 2m 179yds…

Elixir De Nutz….Was a runner up on hurdle debut to Thomas Darby on October 26th at this course over 2m 87yds in a C3 Maiden before returning in the November meeting(18th) and landing the Sharp Hurdle(Grade 2) by 1 & 1/4 lengths from Itchy Feet and the form was boosted with 4th winning next time out. Elixir De Nutz(Colin Tizzard)  will have to give weight away to the field for that win and that could let in Jarveys Plate(Fergal O’Brien), who was 3rd on hurdles debut over 2m at Haydock in a C4 Novice Hurdle with that form being boosted too with the runner up since winning and is likely to come on for that experience, the front 3 were 7 lengths clear of the field that day and then we have a debutant Angels Breath(Nicky Henderson), who could be one to note in the future and makes rules debut today after joining the yard from Ireland having won a 3m Point to Point….

12.45 Novice Chase… Class 2…. 3m 1f 56yds…

Lil Rockerfeller… Is 3 from 3 since going chasing this season. Made his seasonal return on October 7th at Uttoxeter in a C3 Beginners Chase over 2m 4f, winning by 1 & 1/2 lengths before heading to Cheltenham in a C2 Novice 3m86yds Chase on November 25th, winning by 4 lengths. Last time out at Exeter, winning by 8 lengths in a C3 Novice Chase over 3m 54yds and now is up in trip slightly against slightly better opposition… With Grade 1 winning hurdler Worlds End, who was a 2 & 3/4 length 3rd to Ibis Du Rheu in a 3m 80td Chase here on November 17th, both renew their rivalry today and neither can be ruled out, I think that Lil Rockerfeller will make a top class chaser and could have too much for the rest….

2.30 Handicap Chase… Grade 3… 3m 2f…

Rock the Kasbah… Has been raised 6Lb for his 1 & 1/4 length win here on November 17th when landing the Grade 3 chase and is top rated in the field but Theatre Territory is the only mare in the field and has her 2nd run after a wind operation. She finished runner up, sandwiched in between Ibis Du Rheu & Worlds End here over 3m 80tds on November 18th and steps up in class, with the jockey taking 3Lbs off too, so the massive weight difference with Rock the Kasbah( 11s 12Lb) to Theatre Territory(10s 5Lb) could be key today…

3.05 Cross Country Handicap Chase… Class 2.. 3m 6f 37yds…

Josies Orders... Has 3 C/D wins & 2 places from 6 runs at Prestbury Park and comes into this race on the back of being raised 3Lb’s for a 3/4 length victory over C/D on November 16th. Having finished 3rd in this race last season to Top Rated Bless the Wings, whose form has been some what under cooked but could go well back here…

That is everything for you today folks, thanks for your support this year we really appreciate it…

Charlie landed another winner, he is certainly getting closer while Final Word had an off day…. There is plenty of racing today with some nice races, so lets get down to business and see what we have for you today…

Charlie –

2018-12-09-11-19-31

Thomas Campbell 🌟🌟 -Won last time out at Clonmel over 2m 4f and although carries a penalty for that win still looks capable of landing this race stepping back up in distance to 2m 7f 129y. Nicky Henderson’s yard are flying at the moment and Thomas Campbell looks likely to add to the tally of winners for the champion trainer.

Win Advised

.

Off The Hook 🌟🌟-Has finished 2nd on 3 separate occasions and finished 3rd once in last 4 runs. Had return from summer break at Ayr last month and finished 3rd over 2m 4f in a Class 4 Handicap Hurdle. All this points to the fact that winning is only a matter of time and today is as good a chance as any to get that Ellusive win under the belt.

Win Advised

.

Spare Breaks 🌟🌟 -Has held its form well of late after winning at Clonmel over 2m 2f in February. Before finishing 2nd at Thurles over 2m 5f in March. Then finished 3rd on both runs since over 2m at Clonmel and Cork retrospectively. Goes back hurdling today and hurdle mark is considerably lower than Chase mark and looks very interesting even though is around the 9-1 price.

Win Advised

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for The Final Word.

Final Word with Rich –

12.55 Maiden Hurdle…. 2m 4f…

Tornado Flyer… Won the Punchestown Champion bumper, makes seasonal return and hurdle debut…

2.00 John Durkan Memorial Chase… 2m 4f…

Shattered Love…. The only mare in the field and receives weight for being so.  She is the JLT winner from the Cheltenham Festival and was runner up on seasonal return by 1/2 a length at Down Royal on November 3rd and will come on for that run…

DANGER…. Min… A 7 length runner up to Altior in the Champion Chase but has not been seen since finishing 4th to Un De Sceaux in the Irish Champion Chase in April.. Season return…

2.30 Beginners Chase… Class 1 … 2m..

Mitchouka… Fell on chase debut in October and was last over 2m 2f at this course in the same month. Has had a little break and drops from Grade 3 company to Listed…

DANGER…. Getabird… The 2 time Grade 2 winning hurdler was last seen pulling up in the Irish Champion Chase over C/D in April. Makes chase debut on season return…

Cork… Soft…

1.10 Stayers Novice Hurdle… Grade 3… 3m..

Robin De Carlow… Double C1 Listed winner from 2 starts this season, winning over 2m 6f on October 14th at Limerick before landing a C/D Listed race by 11 lengths on  November 11th.. The one to beat!

1.45 Hilly Way Chase… Grade 2… 2m 160yds..

Great Field… Unbeaten 5 from 5 over chase fences and was last seen in March when landing the Navan Grade 2 Webster Cup Chase by 1 & 3/4 lengths from Doctor Phoenix, makes seasonal return…

Huntingdon… Good to Soft…

12.50 Novice Chase… Class 3… 2m 7f 129yds…

Bags Groove… 2 from 2 since starting over chase fences and won a Grade 2 Novice Chase at Wincanton last time out by 9 lengths from Secret Investor but has to give weight to the field for that win…

DANGER…. Thomas Campbell receives weight from Bags Groove despite winning a Ludlow C4 2m 4f Novice Chase last time out by 1 & 1/2 lengths on November 26th..

1.55 Handicap Hurdle… Class 3… 1m 7f 171yds..

Shiroccan Roll… 1 win from 3 runs over hurdles. A 4 & 1/2 length winner over 2m 1f at Newton Abbot on September 21st. Has finished runner up on last 2 starts and was only beaten 1 & 3/4 lengths last time out on November 10th at Wincanton over 2m by Grand Sancy in a C3 Novice Hurdle, the winner has since won a C1 Listed race…

That is everything for you today folks, plenty to get through and remember, only bet what you can afford to lose, if not just watch…

Superstar horses…. Here we go!

Welcome to arseonlinetips. A 100% independent racing website, with NO affiliate links. This website is brought to you by Charlie, who hails from Glasgow & Rich, who is from the Isle of Wight. Miles apart but united by the sport of kings….

Todays blog is a standard blog that you guys will have become accustomed too, with Charlies Selections while Rich will have the Final Word… So without much of a song and a dance., lets crack on…

Charlie –

Before we get down to today’s selections let’s have a recap on yesterday, Eclat De Star could only manage to finish 2nd but Gonnabegood won as expected advised at 4-1, my final selection The Bottom Bar was unseated by a loose horse. Just the one winner yesterday but the amount of places i’ve had this season is frustrating the life out of me, hopefully I can kick on from yesterday’s winner and build on that.

2018-12-08-11-45-10

Apples Shakira 🌟🌟 -Won 4 times in 2017 but failed to capitalise on that on both race starts this year finishing 4th at Cheltenham in March and then finishing 3rd at Aintree in April. She goes well fresh and at 7-2 seems overpriced considering previous form.

Win Advised

.

Chica Buena 🌟🌟 -Was 2nd at Listowel in September before winning a Maiden Hurdle at Balinrobe over 2m in September, was then sent to Sedgefield in October and won a Class 4 Hurdle over 2m 1f. Latest win came at Musselburgh in November in another Class 4 Hurdle beating Golden Jeffry by 1 and 1/4 length. Will need to step up again here but she’s in good shape and should be thereabouts again.

Win Advised

.

Milansbar 🌟🌟 -Is a bit of dark horse, won the Betfred Classic at Warwick then finished 5th in the Grand National at Aintree. Although soundly beaten at Aintree was 2nd in the Midlands National and goes well fresh and could be worth siding with in this wide open race.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for The Final Word.

.

Final Word with Rich –

Thanks Charlie, lovely  winner yesterday and always nice to land one the day before a huge Saturday, with so many fantastic national hunt horses flying over the fences…. I only looked at Aintree and Sandown, so lets start in Liverpool…

Aintree… Heavy..

1.30 Handicap Chase… Grade 3… 3m 1f…

Ballyoptic… Won a Wetherby Grade 2 3m novice chase last season before finishing 4th in the RAS at Cheltenham at the festival in March before being very unlucky in the Scottish Grand National, when finishing runner up by a nose. A winner on chase debut last season, but that was after a hurdle run, so may need the run today but is certainly not adverse to winning in these conditions…

2.05 Many Clouds Chase… Grade 2… 3m 1f..

Definitly Red… Won this race last season and having won on season return it looks the likely winner in this contest, it is great to see the return from injury of 2017 Grand National winner One for Arthur…..

Sandown… Soft…

1.20 Handicap Hurdle… Class 2…. 2m 7f….

Another Emotion… A 6 length runner up on hurdle debut at Chepstow in March and improved to win when last seen at Ffos Las, when landing a C4 2m 4f novice hurdle by 1/2 a length, that race has yielded 2 winners next time out . Up in class on seasonal return, with more expected and could be one to keep an eye on for later in the season….

1.50 Henry VIII Chase…. Grade 1… 1m 7f 119yds…

Lalor… Grade 1 winning hurdler, who made a winning chase debut at Cheltenham in the Arkle Chase, Grade 2 on November 18th by 7 lengths from Dingo Dollars…. Diakali is 3 from 3 in this sphere and won a 2m novice chase at Cheltenham on season return by 9 lengths on October 26th and could be the main danger, up in class…

2.25 Handicap Hurdle… Class 1 Listed…. 1m 8f…

Apple’s Shakira… Made an impressive start to hurdles in the Uk having been brought over from France. Winning her first 3 races at Cheltenham, including 2 Grade 2 hurdles over 2m. Finished 4th in the JCB at the festival before finding it difficult in the Doom Bar at Aintree, when finishing a distant 3rd and may just need this ease in grade to kick start her career again, that said the 4yo filly is the top rated horse in the race against the boys and the slight drop in trip could well be in her favour too….

3.00 Tingle Creek…. Grade 1 Class 1…. 1m 7f 119yds…

This maybe a 4 horse chase, but what a treat for 3.00 on a Saturday…

Altior is unbeaten in 9 chase starts with 5 Grade 1 wins to his name and is 3 from 3 over C/D and was last seen landing the Celebration Chase over C/D in April, starts his season here and is the one to beat….. So let’s look at the contenders that are likely to try and lower Altiors crown and deliver his first defeat,,,,

Sceau Royal has only been beaten once in his chase career and that was at Cheltenham in October last year. He has since won 4 from 4 and won on his seasonal reappearance in the Cheltenham Chase last month….

Un De Sceaux is now 10 years old has been there and done that, he has won 3 of his last 4 chase starts and was last seen winning the Irish Champion Chase at Punchestown in April and is a multiple Grade 1 Chase winner, but is age catching up with him?

Who will win? It looks likely that Altior should be the likely winner, but as we have seen in the last couple of weeks, nothing is certain in national hunt racing, I suspect that he will have too much speed for UDS and that it could be Sceau Royal chasing him home!

That is everything for you today folks, thanks for popping by and your continued support making this last 9 months the best ever for us at Arse HQ…

All the Best – Charlie & Rich

A big weekend ahead….

Hello and Welcome to arseonlinetips. A 100% independent racing website with NO affiliate links… This website is curated by 2 racing enthusiasts from either end of the British Isles, Charlie hails from Glasgow, while Rich is from the Isle of Wight.. Miles apart but united by the sport of kings…

We took a day away yesterday but we are back today and what a weekend we have in store, more of that tomorrow…. Standard blog, Charlie has his selections while Rich will have the Final Word… Let’s get cracking!

Charlie-

2018-12-07-07-33-30

Eclat De Star 🌟🌟 -Newcomer for Jonjo O’Neil won over in France before being bought by Jp Mcmanus. Eclat De Star looks a likely type as the 2nd Elu Secret from that race in France has since won and the 3rd Echo Sacre is a respectable jumper over there and is related to Nicky Henderson’s Sprinter Sacre.Eclat De Star Is bound to develop into a nice horse further down the line but should kick UK debut off with a win.

Win Advised.

.

Gonnabegood 🌟🌟 -Won over 3m at Ffos Las over 3m in October, was then sent to Exeter in November and finished 2nd to Kayf Charmer who won by a neck. Goes back up in trip and looks reasonably treated, wears first time visor today instead of usual cheekpieces and if repeating form shown on last two runs will be thereabouts at the business end of race.

Win Advised

.

The Bottom Bar 🌟🌟-Has held its form well in last 4 runs finishing 1st at Market Rasen over 2m 5f in April, was then sent to Worcester to race over 2m 7f in May and finished 2nd. Next up was a trip to Ffos Las in June over 2m 4f and The Bottom Bar finished 3rd. Latest run came at Sandown in November over 2m 4f and finished 2nd again some 8 lengths behind Eragon De Chanay. If repeating the form shown in last 4 runs should be thereabouts again even though Nico prefers Turtle Wars.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for The Final Word.

.

Final Word with Rich –

Exeter… Soft

1.30 Novice Hurdle… Class 4(4-6YO Only)… 2m 175yds..

Has to concede weight to the field and also drops back in trip….

2.05 Handicap Chase…. Class 3… 2m 3f…

Arthur’s Gift… Made  seasonal return and Chase debut on October 28th, finishing 4th of the 10 runners by 8 & 3/4 lengths over 3m in an Aintree C3 novice chase, that race has seen no less than 5 winners, 1st, 3rd, 6th & 7th, while one that was pulled up has also won, with all 5 winning class 3 chases, drops in trip..

Sandown… Good to Soft..

2.25 Novice Hurdle… Grade 2 Class 1… 2m 4f…

Truckin Away… Made rules debut last month(Nov 11th) in heavy ground at Ffos Las over 2m 4f in a C4 maiden hurdle, pulling away with ease from runner up Acey Milan, to win by over 3 lengths and there should be more to come. Steps up in grade…

That is all for today folks, thanks for popping by….
