Monday Mash-up

Screenshot_2017-05-08-23-15-39_1

Well Sunday wasn’t a day to remember first my Nap was pulled out due to ground going against its chances. Then my Nb drifted like a barge from 4-1 to 7-1 but still managed to place 3rd resulting in a loss. My 3b finished 6th resulting in a blank day. Just goes to show that sometimes the stats don’t fall our way but that’s the risk we take.

Time to move forward and Monday throws up a fair few cards, with Ayr , Newton Abbot, Windsor, Wolverhampton and Galway to choose from.

I have looked through the cards and have 3 nice selections I feel should be there about. I have went win only on them but wouldn’t put anyone off going Each Way. Anyway enough of my ramblings please find my selections for Monday including write ups listed below.

Charlie’s Selections

.aviary-image-1501452274721

Insurplus – Was a fair 3rd here over 6f last week, races off same mark and extra furlong shouldn’t be a problem, Trained by local trainer J Goldie who has a fantastic strike rate with his runners here and 13-2 seems a bit of value.

Win Advised

.

Gilmer – Has won over course and distance on the 24th June, then placed 3rd at Hamilton on 21st July, was sent over 7f at Newcastle 8 days later and finished 9th. That race can be forgiven as was first run on all weather for a while. The return to course he has won on before swings this for me and wouldn’t be surprised if he takes this race at 7-1 .

Win Advised

.

Gold Hunter – Won at Salisbury over 6f but ran poorly at Newmarket, latest 2nd at Chepstow hinted of a return to form and 6-1 seems a fair price and is a risk I’m willing to take.

Win Advised

.

Well there you have Monday’s Selections, I hope you gamble responsibly and keep stakes small, hopefully we will end the day with a Winner or Two.

…Good Luck…

Sunday Service

img_20160521_111244

Well Saturday didn’t quite go as planned, with only my Nap winning at 2-1 to cheer about. My Nb Fastnet Tempest didn’t enjoy the race finished well beaten and was a loss. My 3b Scorching Heat was beaten by a neck into 2nd by The Feathered Nest a 14-1 shot for R Fahey. Seems Fahey is continuing the trend of getting big priced winners on a Saturday, as he had plenty of those last season.

That’s enough about Saturday we move onwards and Selections for Sunday Service are located below.

Charlie’s Selections

aviary-image-1501369877453

.Mining Rocks – Has won 3 times and placed 3rd once from last 4 races. Latest 3rd at Haydock can be forgiven as wasn’t beaten far. Ground should be ideal and has won over 1m 2f before so trip isn’t a concern.

Trainer – Declan Caroll and Jock – Ger O’Neill have a 60% combined success rate. Making a strong case for the win here.

Win Advised

.

.Avon Breeze – Form for last 4 runs reads as 1421 and is in foal. Has been raised 4lb for latest win at Pontefract 9 days ago and should be there about again in a similar race.

Trainer – Richard Whitaker and Jock – Lewis Edmunds have an 80% combined strike rate and again looks another strong selection.

Win Advised

.

.Forever Field – Has placed 2nd twice over fences before winning at the 3rd time of asking at Worcester over 2m 4f, so trip shouldn’t be an issue.

Trainer – Nicky Henderson and Jock – Nico de Boinville have a 31% combined strike rate and again looks another strong Selection.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my lot for Sunday, please remember to keep stakes small and hopefully end the day with a bit of profit.

… Good Luck …

Saturday’s Selections

img_20160521_111244

There is nothing from Rich this weekend as he is having some family time, so you will have to put up with my ramblings for the time being. Before we get down to Saturday’s Selections we will recap on Friday’s Performance.

Friday’s Results

The People’s Nap – Mittens was unplaced and was a loss.

The other two selections in the People’s Nap Vote both finished 2nd.

Sadly no People’s Nap winner on Friday meaning Rich signs off without a victory.

Charlie’s Results

Dark Sunset – Won as expected Advised at 5-1

Destiny’s Gold – Could only manage 3rd and was a loss.

Just the one winner again from the 2 Selections I put up on Friday, it’s becoming common place on a daily basis now and is starting to annoy me big time. Anyway enough about yesterday let’s get onto Saturday’s Selections and you can locate them below.

Saturday’s Selections

aviary-image-1501317959815

.

Nyaleti – Has a win and two 2nd places from 3 races and looks the one to beat here, M Johnston obviously thinks a lot about this Fillie as he wouldn’t run her if he had any doubt about her chances in this race.

Win Advised

.

Fastnet Tempest – Has won Twice from last 4 runs. Can be forgiven latest defeat as race didn’t go his way, cheekpieces replaced by First time Blinkers and Ryan Moore does the steering here and a bold run can’t be ruled out.

Win Advised

.

Scorching Heat – Form for last 4 runs reads as 1223 and recieves a great chance of gaining another victory here off a feather weight and can’t be ignored given recent form.

Win Advised

.

Well that’s my lot for today, I hope I haven’t bored you all too much. Please remember to keep stakes small and hopefully end the day with some winners.

… Good Luck …

Funky Friday…..

img_20160521_111244

This is the last Peoples Nap for the Month, all being well I will return on Monday, until then here is today’s Peoples Nap Choices

Ascot – Good to Soft

3.20 – Valiant Stakes – Fillies’ Class 1 Listed – 1m

Mittens – C/D winner earlier this month in a Class handicap during the Royal meeting, winning by 3 & 1/4 lengths, that was a second Class 3 handicap win on the bounce, also by over 3 lengths, deserves to step up to this class – 4/1

.

Down Royal – Good

7.55 – Her Majesty’s Plate – Class 1 Listed – 1m 6f

Twlight Payment – Won twice last term, including a Curragh Class 1 Listed race. Two runner up spots to Torcedor so far this term, including a Group 3 race at Navan before 3rd behind Order of St George in a Leopardstown Class 1 Listed event over I’m 6f – 15/8

.

Newmarket – Good to Soft

8.40 – Handicap – Class 4 – 7f

Pastime – Won Two Class 5 races(Maiden & Handicap) before being tried in a Class 3 handicap at Ascot, finishing a 2 & 1/4 length 3rd over 1m, now drops back to 7f, distance when winning a Newcastle(AW) by 2 & 1/4 lengths, also drops down in class – 11/4

.

PN Result(Thursday) – Finishing Touch – is possibly still finishing………

Over to Charlie for his selections –

Before I go into Friday’s selections I will recap on Thursday’s Results.

Mr Caffrey – Won as expected Advised at 3-1

Agnethe – could only manage 5th and was a loss.

Mister Music – Was a non runner

. Again it was another frustrating day with one Winner and a non runner from my 3 selections. It’s becoming a bit tiresome now, hopefully get back to winning ways with Friday’s selections listed below.

aviary-image-1501222474863

Dark Sunset – Bought by D McCain in April after placing 2nd in an Irish point race for £8,000 , wouldn’t need to be anything special to land this debut for new trainer.

Win Advised

.

Destiny’s Gold – Had won here over course and distance back in May, then placed 3rd at Aintree and 2nd at Southwell. Should be there about again and looks the one to beat here.

Win Advised

.

Only the two selections today as I didn’t find anything else I liked. Please remember to keep stakes small and enjoy your races.

Rich’s Final Thought –

Before I depart for the weekend break, maybe a touch longer who knows! Anyway I cannot go without mentioning the Farce at Yarmouth yesterday….. Wrong horse in wrong race & nobody knew??? Has it happened before?? How has it happened?? What checks were missed? How can you not tell the two horses apart?? So many question’s ….. Surely a big fine for the trainer to come, disciplinary for the course staff too. A shambles is a decent way to describe it…. Farce…. Void race for sure. You also have to feel for the other trainers, Jockey’s & staff who had runners in the race. What do they do? If race is void, can they claim back expenses etc??? Big BHA inquiry to come…..

Thursday’s Thoughts

screenshot_20161201-230300_1

I have no idea what is going on with the PN!! Yet another place, it’s is starting to get more than a bit frustrating as I keep mentioning. I will plug away & I am in no doubt that it will turn it’s self around. Lets take a look at the choices –

Peoples Nap Choices

Doncaster – Soft

6.15 – Novice Stakes – Class 4 – 2YO Only – 7f 6y

Wafeer – 5th on debut at Haydock by 2 & 1/4 lengths, running on at finish, up a furlong, 3rd place has since won – 9/4

.

.

7.35 – Handicap – Class 4 – 1m

Finishing Touch – Won a 1m York class 4 maiden on debut by 3/4’s of a length. Finished a 3 length 3rd last time out to Private Mission in a class 3 handicap over 1m, with an opening handicap mark of 81, which is unchanged & drops in class – 13/8

.

PN Result(Wednesday) – Love Oasis – 2nd….. Another place…..

Over to Charlie for his thoughts –

Cheers Rich before we get down to Thursday’s Selections we will recap on Wednesday’s performance.

Charlie’s Results for Wednesday

.

.King Of The Celts – Finished 6th and is a loss.

.New World Power – Finished 6th and was another loss.

.Rehana – Finished 3rd and was yet another loss.

. The frustrating run continues with another 3 losses, hopefully get back on track before the weekend.

Charlie’s Thursday Selections

Rich’s Final Thought

With my form taking a dip, I have decided to take a break over the weekend, I need to step away from racing, spend time with my family & recharge. I possibly don’t do this often enough, I always try & grind it out. I also realise that spending 3-4 hours a day doing this is starting to put a strain on home life & I am starting to get a little low, with losing on a daily basis. You sometimes don’t realise how draining it can be, with working 9 hour days, family time, study & other commitments. I will be back next week, I just need a small break for the good of everyone.

Anyway, enough of that…. Omneeya was a Non Runner yesterday, is running today at Yarmouth(2.10) & 7 Length handicap debut winner Harba, also runs on the card(5.25). There are TWO Aiden O’Brien hotpots running in Leopardstown, with Happily(6.55) & The Pentagon(7.30) both being partnered by Ryan Moore!

I also think that Miss Mo Brown(Newbury – 6.30) has a fine chance, having not been beaten far in the 4 runs so far & a couple of placed finished, with only a 1/2 length in it last time out at Doncaster over 6f, which is today’s distance!

Wednesday’s Winners……

Screenshot_2017-05-08-23-15-39_1

Charlie’s Nap won but the PN placed YET AGAIN! As I have mentioned before, i’m not sure whether it’s me or just bad luck, I guess a bit of both I can only conclude! I am determined to put this right…..

Peoples Nap Choices

Bath – Good

3.10 – Handicap – Class 4 – 3YO Only – 5f 160y

LOVE OASIS – Won two class 5 handicaps this term, 8th in a class 3 at Pontefract before 2 runner up spots in class 4 contest’s , latterly to Meshardal at Catterick – 9/4

.

Lingield – Soft

3.50 – Fillies’ Hnadicap – Class 5 – 6f

OMNEEYA – 1/2 length 3rd at this distance after being dropped back from 7f, makes handicap debut & has 1st time tongue tie – 4/1

.

Sandown – Good to Soft

8.10 – Handicap – Class 4 – 1m 6f

TENZING NORWAY

3rd by 1 & 3/4 lengths when 1st tried at this distance on final run of last term. Returned at 1m 8f finishing a distant 3rd at Catterick, runs off the same mark – 11/2

PN Result(Tuesday) – Mooltazem – 3rd……

Over to Charlie for his thoughts –

Cheers Rich lets start with Tuesday’s Results.

Sebastian’s Wish -Won as expected although there was a rule 4 applied.

King Olav –  4th and is a loss.

Innoko -Non Runner

Well one winner in Sebastian’s Wish but with a 20p Rule 4 due to non runners. Not quite what I was hoping for but will have to do I suppose.

Selections for Wednesday are listed below.

aviary-image-1501030983371

.King Of The Celts – Fair second last time out here over 1m 4f. Has form on soft ground and can get involved again here in this similar race.

Win Advised

.

New World Power – Has placed 2nd in last two runs at Thirsk over 1m 4f and then Brighton over 1m 3f, has been raised a further 2lb for that run and can still be involved here.

Win Advised

.

Rehana – Has been racing over further and a slight drop in trip could be useful here and coupled with P Smullen looks the one to beat.

Win Advised

.

Well there you have it another packed blog post with plenty to keep you busy until races start. The People’s Nap vote result will be updated when voting closes.

In the meantime please remember to keep stakes small and hopefully end the day with a few winners…

…Good Luck…

Temperamental Tuesday’s

Musselburgh racecourse

With the Voiding of the PN yesterday due to The Poll winner being a Non Runner & having 50% of the vote, we go again today…. Charlie will tell you about his result’s & selection’s too….. So let’s Crack on –

Peoples Nap Choices

Musselburgh – Good to Firm

That’s all from Rich today, now over to Charlie –

Cheers Rich let’s get down to business yesterday’s results are listed below.

Inglorious – Finished outside the places and was a loss.

Universal Soldier – Finished 4th and was another loss.

First Bombardment – Finished 5th and was yet another loss.

Frustrating day to say the least, not what I had hoped for and my form takes another dip as a result. Hopefully change that with Tuesday’s selections listed below.

aviary-image-1500968926878

Sebastian’s Wish – Has won twice here and placed 3rd latest over course and distance, has been raised a further 2lb for that and another bold run can’t be ruled out in this similar race.

Win Advised

.

King Olav – Had won here over 2m before winning at Lingfield over 1m 7f and then placed 3rd over 1m 5f and 1m 3f at same venue, jock takes 5lbs off his back and that should ease the burden and can be involved again here.

Win Advised

.

Innoko – Non Runner – no replacement

.

Well there you have it another packed blog post with plenty to keep you busy until races start. The People’s Nap vote result will be updated when voting closes.

In the meantime please remember to keep stakes small and hopefully end the day with a few winners…

…Good Luck…

Moody Monday……

Screenshot_2017-05-08-23-15-39_1

Another week begins, full of intent & Joy…. But then again it is the start of the working week too, so scrub that…. Anyway… Lots to look forward too…. So let’s crack on with it!

Peoples Nap Choices

Ayr – Good

3.05 – Handicap – Class 4 – 5f

Dark Defender – Course & class winner over 6f by 1 & 3/4 lengths. 2nd last time out over 6f in a class 2 handicap at Hamilton, carrying penalty from win here over 6f. Drops back to minimum trip & back in class – 11/2

.

Windsor – Soft

8.15 – Maiden – Class 5 – 1m 2f

Stormy Blues – Failed to land a blow on race course debut over 1m in a class 5 maiden at Yarmouth, stepped up in trip to 1m 2f, again in a class 5 maiden at Nottingham & was narrowly beaten by 3/4’s of a length to Intellect, who has since won a class 4 handicap by 9 lengths – 7/4

.

Ballinrobe – Yielding to Soft

8.35 – Maiden – 1m 5f 79y

High Heaven – Demoted on debut after bumping into a rival, despite being 1st past the post, ended up placed 2nd.  Finished 2nd again last time out over C/D, beaten by a nose & 3rd has won next time out – 6/4

.

PN Result(Sunday) – Flourishing – Finishes 3rd……. Story of the last few weeks….

No Final Word again today as there has been nothing exciting to talk about….. 😉

Over to Charlie for his thought’s –

.

Sunday’s Results

.A Tail Of Intrigue – Fell and was a loss.

.Robin De Roost – Fell and was another loss.

.Fiesole – 2nd and was yet another loss.

. Well two fallers and a 2nd isn’t what I had planned on Sunday. Won’t dwell on it as Monday is upon us and selections for that are listed below.

Charlie’s Selections

.aviary-image-1500834259523

.Inglorious – Was a fair 2nd here over course and distance on 9th July then placed 3rd at Musselburgh 5 days later should be involved again here and with a better run can get a welcoming win

Win Advised

.

.Universal Soldier – Pulled up when last seen at Ffos Las back in April 2016 had won previous race at Haydock over 3m 4f so the slight drop in distance shouldn’t be too much of a problem jock takes 10lb off it’s back and that could swing race in his favor.

Win Advised

.

.First Bombardment – Has been a bit outta sorts the last few races but is 4lb lower than last win mark and wouldn’t be a surprise if taking this race as a result of the handicapper being a touch lenient.

Win Advised

.

Well there you have it another packed blog post with plenty to keep you busy until races start. The People’s Nap vote result will be updated when voting closes. In the meantime please remember to keep stakes small and hopefully end the day with a few winners…

…Good Luck…

Sunday Service ……

img_20160521_111244

Saturday provided us with Place City, PN placed 2nd & both of Charlie’s selections placed, whilst he also had a NR…… Saturday is a tough day… Let’s see what Sunday has in store!

Peoples Nap Choices

Stratford – Good to Soft

2.10 Novice Hurdle – Class 4 – 2m 70y

Mister Universum – Won last time out over C/D by 9 lengths in this class in a 1st time tongue tie, which is retained today – 11/8

.

Redcar – Good to Firm

5.00 – Fillies’ Handicap – Class 5 – 1m

Flourishing – Prior to winning last time out in a class 4 maiden by 4 & 1/2 lengths, she had finished 2nd by a neck to Harba, who won a Sandown class 5 handicap by 7 lengths – 6/4

.

Newton Abbott – Good to Soft

3.20 – Novice Chase – Class 3 – 2m 75y

Bagad Bilhoue/ Vosne Romanee – Both unbeaten now over fences …… Battle to the end – Reverse Forecast

PN Result(Saturday) – Lincoln Rocks – 2nd…… Far too many places again this month…..

No Final Word today… Now over to Charlie for his thought’s on todays racing – Cheers Rich will start with Saturday’s Results.

Breezolini – could only manage 2nd losing by a neck and is a loss.

Maggie’s Angel – Could only manage 3rd and was another loss.

Trilliant – was a non runner.

A tough day and with only a non runner to cheer about isn’t what I had hoped for. Hopefully get back to winning ways with Sunday’s Selections listed below.

.Charlie’s Selections

aviary-image-1500799751928

A Tail Of Intrigue – Trained by Nicky Henderson placed 3rd at Worcester last time out over 2m 7f. Wears first time blinkers and is versatile ground wise looks interesting here and could easily take this opportunity to gain a welcomed win.

Win Advised

.

Robin De Roost – Has won last two races at Punchestown and Wexford both over 2m 4f . Is 5lb higher as a result of those victories but remains on a workable mark and the hat-trick looks likely if in same frame of mind.

Win Advised

.

Fiesole – Has won 3 races and placed 3rd twice from last 5 runs. Latest win at Limerick over  1m 3f but has won over further so the 1m 4f today shouldn’t be an issue and the hat-trick looks likely if getting a clear passage.

Win Advised

.

Well there you go another busy blog post with plenty to keep you busy until races start. The People’s Nap vote result will be updated when voting closes.

In the meantime please remember to keep stakes small and hopefully end the day with a few winners.

…Good Luck…
