Welcome to Arseonlineracing… The 100% Independent racing website with NO affiliate links…

Firstly we would like to offer our congratulations to Adam Kirby, Charlie Appleby & Godolphin on winning the Derby. From being Jocked off to winning the race, Adam conducted himself with the ultimate decorum & humility, while you have to feel for Oisin, who lost the ride to Adam, Oisin was the first out of the weighing room to offer congratulations. A measure of both men….

Back to the task in hand & the card at Chantilly, where we have the Prix De Jockey Club & the going is VERY SOFT to SOFT (Via FG Chantilly Twitter) having had 11ml of rain but the forecast is set fine for the day’s racing….

1,05 La Fleche Listed Stakes – 2yo Only – 5f…
Dizzy Bizu – Caravaggio X Izzy Bizu filly.
Course & Distance winner on debut last month, May 11th, when winning a 5f Maiden by a head from Hopeful Melody, who has won since.
The DANGERS are likely to come from HAVE A GOOD DAY, Adday filly, who is also a C&D winner, who beat Anterselva at Lyon by 2 lengths(April 29th) before finishing 2nd over 6f LTO at Angers. While ANTERSELVA, Fast Company filly, has the most experience in the race with 4 runs already, a C&D winner on May 17th when winning the La Candiere Stakes by 2 lengths…. Dizzy Bizu WINS… Anterselva 2nd

1.40 Grand Prix De Chantilly – Group 2 – 4yo Plus – 1m 4f….
In Swoop – Adlerfly X Ioto 4yo colt.

Finished 2nd in last season’s Arc, which has been this season’s target from the start. He finished 2nd on seasonal return over 1m 4f in a Longchamp Listed race in April, beaten 3/4’s of a length by Sublimis. He reversed the form on May 13th, over 1m 2f in the Group 3 D’hedouville Stakes, winning by 1 & 1/4 lengths from The Good Man, with Sublimis in 3rd…. (Likely to go off ODDS ON) 1/2 WINNER

2.15 Prix Du Sandringham

Tahlie gets the nod here, this daughter of Rio De aka Plata has progressed nicely this term, winning at conditions and then Listed level over this trip. Christophe Soumillon is a perfect 2 from 2 on her and continues the partnership today. This is a sterner test but it would be no surprise to see a good run today with soft ground no issue. WINNER

2:15 – Prix Du Sandringham (G2) – Selection: See The Rose

Six 3yo Fillies go to post as the French 1000 Guineas form gets a major examination here. The third & fifth, Kenella & See The Rose were separated by only a head at Longchamp on similar ground to today (very soft / soft). At the prices I am going to side with See The Rose who stayed on well from the rear at Longchamp and may well appreciate the smaller field today. Her trainer Andre Fabre has won this race an amazing nine times and with good form in the book, See The Rose should be heavily involved in the final furlong. Tahlie looks the main danger as she is improving through the ranks with Super Somui booked. 3rd

3.00 Prix Du Jockey Club – 3yo Only – Group 1 – 1m 2f 96yds…

Van Gogh arrives here on the back of a much improved effort in the Irish Guineas last time out, where he looked a touch one-paced in the closing stages to finish 3rd. His 2yo form is very solid and won at this level in testing ground in the Critierium International. Van Gogh also had Megallen behind in the Autumn Stakes and could confirm that form here this afternoon. He looks a solid each-way bet at the current prices if you want to take the favourite on. Shop around as some bookies are paying extra places. UNPLACED

Selection: Megallan

This looks a top class renewal of the Prix Du Jockey Club as hot favourite St Mark’s Basilica looks to follow up his French 2000 Guineas success. Over this longer trip though on testing ground I am going to take him on with British raider Megallan. The Gosden’s inmate has done little wrong in his career so far finishing a fine second behind Epsom third Hurricane Lane in the Dante last time out. That should set the son of Kingman up nicely for this contest and they have targeted this race instead of Epsom. The only concern would have to be the ground, which Megallan is unproven on. The stall draw wasn’t overly kind with gate 15 being drawn for him and traffic problems highly likely. If Oliver Peslier can find the gaps then this horse has got every chance if he handles the ground. At an each way price Policy of Truth could improve a good deal for the step up to 1m 2f after a good run over a mile in the French 2000. UNPLACED

Makaloun – Bated Breath X Makana….
Winner of 4 from 5 starts in 2020 including a 1m 1f Listed Stakes at Deauville in August before landing the 1m 2f Group 3 Prix De Conde Stakes(Soft ground) in September.
Finished 2020 with a close up 3rd, beaten 1 & 3/4 lengths by Gear Up in the 1m 2f Group 1 Criterium De Saint-Cloud(Heavy ground) in October, with Pre Derby favourite, Bolshoi Ballet back in 5th( Struck in to yesterday).
Made a winning seasonal return over 1m 1f at this course on May 11th, when landing the Group 3 Prix De Guiche Stakes from Millibose by 1/2 a length (Soft ground) UNPLACED

The DANGERS are likely to be from Favourite & Top Rated 120 – St Mark’s Basilica (Siyouni X Cabaret) who landed the 7f Group1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket back in October (Soft ground) before making a winning start to 2021 when taking the 1m Group 1 Poule D’Essai Des Poulains at Longchamp on May 16th (Very soft ground)
And of those at bigger prices that could spring a surprise – Baby Rider – Gleneagles X Gyrella) who won once from 2 starts as a 2yo (1 Place) in 2020 before starting 2021 2 from 2 having landed the 1m 2f 96yds Group 2 Prix Greffuhle at Saint-Cloud on May 1st from Smile Makers by a neck (Good to Soft) DANGER – St Mark’s Basilica WINS

That’s all for today folks… We will see you at 7PM for the BIG Interview…
