Hello & welcome to Arseonlineracing. The 100% independent racing website & podcast with NO affiliate links….

With the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, racing has taken a moment to pause out of respect for our monarch, who loved the sport & gave so much pleasure to a nation. We would like to pass on our condolences to King Charles III, the Royal family & the Queens friends.
Her Majesty was a huge supporter of our sport & her presence will be missed by so many, especially next summer when Royal Ascot comes around. We know that the racing public will do the Queen proud, in celebrating her life & reign on an emotional return to racing today.
Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth II

With so much racing around on this busy Sunday, Doncaster – The Curragh & Longchamp, we will do our best to cover as much as we can, while taking a moment to pause for thought.
Charlie makes a welcome return to the fold with Jamie & Rich we are back to almost a full compliment, so let’s see what the team have found for you.

Charlie – Doncaster

1.35 Coral Flying Childers Stakes (Group 2) over 5f 143y

Selection – The Platinum Queen – 2 year old fillie out of Cotai Glory and Thrilled. Has had 5 career starts so far winning 3 times and placing 2nd once. The wins have came at Ripon on debut, York on 3rd start and at Goodwood on 4th start was 2nd on most recent start at York on the 19th August. Beat Shandy Star by 1 length on debut at Ripon on the 1st June 2022. Was a disappointing 13 of 21 at Ascot on 2nd start on the 15th June. Made amends on next start at York on the 8th July when beating Yahsat by 3 and 3/4 lengths. Won again on next start at Goodwood on the 27th July, when beating Union Court by 4 lengths. Was a respectable 2nd on most recent outing at York when being beaten 2 and 1/2 lengths by Highfield Princess. The Platinum Queen has shown glimpses of being Group Class and although has ran in mostly Class 1 or Class 2 races, should have enough in the tank to win this Group 2, with biggest danger to the selection coming in the shape of Trillium who is out of No Nay Never and Marsh hawk, Trillium has 2 wins and a 2nd place finish from 3 career starts.

4.30 Pj Towey Construction Handicap Class 3 over 1m

Selection – Tyrrhenian Sea – 4 year Gelding out of Dark Angel and Nocturne. Has had 7 career starts winning 3 times and placing 2nd once and placing 3rd once. Won 1st 3 starts at Newcastle beginning with a 1 and 1/2 length victory over Alrehb on the 14th December last year. Returned to Newcastle on the 4th of January and beat Broomy Law by 6 lengths. Won again on next start at Newcastle on the 4th February when beating U S S Michigan by 2 and 1/4 lengths. Was 4th on next start at Kempton on the 2nd March when a neck a short head and a head seperated the 1st 4 home. Returned to Newcastle on the 15th April when beaten by 1/2 length into 2nd by Living Legend. Finished 4th of 4 on next start on turf at Windsor on the 25th June when behind winner My Oberon. Most recently was an unlucky 3rd at York on the 18th August when finishing a head and 2 and 1/4 lengths behind winner Blue For You. If showing same attitude today could easily gain 1st victory on turf although will need to be more assertive from the start, biggest danger to the selection comes in the shape of Point Lynas who has won last 2 starts.

Jamie – Curragh

3:00 – Moyglare Stud Stakes (G1)

Selection: Tahiyra

I am going to take a chance here and take on the hot favourite Meditate. I don’t say that lightly as Meditate is a horse I rate highly but Tahiyra impressed me so much at Galway on her debut that I can’t leave her out of today’s blog. Yes this is a massive step up in class from a Maiden to a Group 1 but it was the manner of Tahiyra’s victory that suggested she is a Filly with immense potential and has tempted connections to step up to the top level straight away. Dermot Weld doesn’t do that unless he thinks his horse has a good chance. That Galway success was gained on good to yielding ground, so she acts on the ground and she is the value against the favourite. I’m looking forward to seeing her run today.

4:10 – Comer Group International Irish St. Leger (G1)

Selection: Rosscarbery (E/W)

This looks to be quite a strong renewal of the final Irish classic of the season. With Kyprios (who on all known form should win) being such a short price it has opened up some doors for each way punters. Rosscarbery appeals to me as the type to improve further going back up in trip for the Paddy Twomey stable. Rosscarbery has enjoyed an excellent season so far having won 5 times from 7 starts. One of those victories came over the same 1m 6f trip as she will face today in the Stanerra Stakes back in July at Leopardstown. It was another pleasing performance last time out when Rosscarbery was just beaten in a 10F Group 1 at Deauville last month, which will set her up nicely for today’s assignment. She has winning form on soft ground and is still improving. At 16/1 there is worse each way bets to be had in my opinion.

Rich – Longchamp ( Good to Soft )

1.35 – Prix Foy Stakes – Group 2 – 4yo+ – 1m 3f 204yds
Iresine – Manduro X Inanga 5yo gelding

Finished a 1 & 3/4 length 3rd of 6 on his last start in August, when running at Deauville in the Group 3 Jockey Club Anniversaire Stakes to Botanik, who has since won the Group 2 Grand Prix de Deauville( 1m 3f 204yds). Iresine was having his 3rd run of the season having won his previous 2, over the distance at Lyon, including a Listed Stakes race. He has run 5 times over 1m 3f 204yds, winning 4 of them & was a winner of the Group 3 La Coupe Stakes (1m 1f 204yds) at this course in June 2021.
High Definition, Verry Elleegant, Bubble Gift, My Rhapsody & Mutabahi make up the rest of the field….

3.25 Prix Niel Stakes – Group 2 – 3yo+ – 1m 3f 204yds
Simca Mille – Tamayuz X Swertia 3yo filly

Last seen in July over C&D when finishing a neck 2nd to Onesto in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris, this was her 6th run of 2022, having won her 3 previous races since coming back from a small break, having raced in February & finishing 2nd on both those starts.
The filly landed the Group 3 Prix Du Lys Longines in June over 1m 3f 204yds from Virtual Rock by 3 & 1/2 lengths, that was her first try over the distance.
Do Deuce, the Japanese raider has been off for 102 days, while True Testament steps up in trip following a 3rd in a Group 2, L’Astronome was 5th in a Group 1 having been unbeaten in 2022 & Deputy Ruler are the best of the 7 race field. SIMCA MILLE for me.

The BIG Group 1 on the card is the Prix Vermeille at 2.50 & features Grand Glory, Tuesday, Lilac Road, Albafora, Agave & Love Child, to name a few of the 11 runners.
I noted both Tuesday & Grand Glory as 2 I like in this race ( Just my opinion)

Thank you for taking the time to pop by today & read our blog, we really appreciate it. We would like to close this blog with the colours of the Queen, worn by Thore Hammer Hansen.

Gamble Responsibly.
