The GOING at YORK is….. GOOD

Charlie –

1.50 Skybet Lowther Stakes (Grade 2)

Selection – Sandrine -2 year Old Filly Out of Bobbys Kitten and Seychelloise, has had 3 career starts so far and won all 3, beginning with a 1 length victory over Silken Petals at Kempton on the 19th May this year. Was then sent to Ascot on the 18th June and beat Hello You by 1 and 1/2 lengths on Heavy ground. Won again at Newmarket on the 9th July when beating Desert Dreamer by 1 and 3/4 lengths on Good to Firm Ground. If turning up and showing same attitude as previous races should land this race, biggest threat to the selection comes in the shape of Zain Claudette who has won last 2 starts.

2:25 – Goffs UK Premier Sales Race – Selection: Symphony Perfect (Each Way)

A big pot is on offer here for this ultra competitive Sales Race with the winner receiving £98,360. With 21 very evenly matched runners heading to post it makes sense to look for each way value and I have to say that Symphony Perfect makes plenty of appeal to me on the back of her second in the Sprint Cup at Newbury. That is amongst the best form coming into this race. She has plenty of experience with six starts under her belt, so she is battle hardened, which I think you need in a race like this. The ground and is and she receives the 3lb allowance for being a Filly. She will have to put behind her a disappointing performance at Newmarket last time out but I am confident she will. The ground is fine and the stable have a nice record in this contest. Good solid each way chance.

4:15 – Sir Henry Cecil Galtrees Fillies Stakes (Listed) – Selection: Abstinence

This is always an informative little contest for the Fillies & Mares. I think the 3yo pair of Abstinence & Pennymoor look the ones to focus on, I like the former who is still relatively unexposed and brings with her a likeable profile for this contest. Abstinence, a Daughter of Lope De Vega only has the four races under her belt but is showing a steep level of improvement and there is more to come from Ralph Beckett’s charge. The pick of her form came last time out at Newmarket when she finished third in the Aphrodite Stakes over today’s trip of 1m 4f where she finished third despite not getting a clear run. For a first race on the turf it was a most pleasing effort. I think the long home straight at York will play to her strengths and good ground is to her liking. The Irish pair of Amma Grace & Forbearance holds major claims but both have to concede 9lb to my selection.

Mr McCann – Kodiac X Copperbeach colt.
