Charlie –

5.35 King George V Stakes

Selection – First Light – 3 year old Colt out of Dubawi and Anzhelika. Has had just the 3 career starts beginning with a 4 and 1/2 length 2nd place behind Wirko at Kempton on the 5th of November 2020 over 1m. Was then sent to Newcastle on the 30th April this year and finished 3rd some 6 and 1/2 lengths behind winner John Leeper who was 4 lengths in front of 2nd placed Moktasaab over 1m 2f 42y. More recently was a winner at the 3rd time of asking at Ripon on the 16th May when beating Tropical Cyclone by 12 lengths with Charging Thunder a further length and 1/4 behind in 3rd that was over 1m 1f 170y on soft ground. If showing up in same mood and with rain arriving at Ascot should be in favour here as long as it doesn’t become too soft. Biggest threat to the selection comes in the shape of Sir Lamorak who has won last 2 starts.

6.10 Buckingham Palace Stakes

Selection – Dance Fever – 4 year old Gelding out of Sir Prancealot and Silk Fan. Has had 5 career starts so far winning 3 times and placing 2nd once. Won on debut at Windsor on the 2nd September 2019 when beating We’re Reunited by 1 and 1/4 lengths with Phuket Power a further 1/2 length behind in 3rd, that was over 6f 12y on Good to Firm Ground. Was sent to Kempton for next 2 stats beginning with a 1/2 length victory over Pepper Bay with Alfies Watch a further 3 and 3/4 lengths behind in 3rd, that was over 6f on the 25 September 2019. Returned to Kempton on the 6th November stepping up in distance to 7f and won again beating Picture Frame by 1 and 1/4 lengths with Commit No Nuisance a short head behind in 3rd. Made seasonal return at Windsor on the 28th June 2020 and finished 4th behind winner Overwrite who beat Tell Me All by 1 length with Sword Beach a further 3/4 of a length behind in 3rd with Dance Fever a head behind in 4th that was over 1m 31y on Good to Firm Ground. If showing same attitude as when winning first 3 races could easily get involved here although any rain may make life a little more difficult, biggest danger to the selection comes in the shape of Boardman who has won last 3 starts and is carrying another 6lb for previous win.

Chris –

3.05 Hampton Court Stakes

Mohaafeth could not have been more impressive this spring at Newmarket, winning at handicap level before a listed win over this trip. This son of Frankel skipped the Derby due to soft ground so won’t want too much overnight rain, but he looks the class horse in the race today over this 10f.

3.40 Ribblesdale Stakes

Gloria Mundi won her maiden at her first attempt and then ran with credit at listed level when only just denied. She appears to want this step-up to 12f today and being a daughter of Galileo, it would be no surprise were she to thrive over it. Raced on good and good to soft ground so conditions should hold no fear and can run well for John Gosden who has continued to enjoy success at the meeting already.

Jamie –

3:40 – Ribblesdale Stakes (G2) – Selection: Eshaada

A very open looking Ribblesdale Stakes which is lacking a standout contender. I’m not convinced by the Epsom Oaks form angle so I am going to rule out those horses coming from Epsom. Eshaada arrives here with a 100% record (2-2) and is fresher than most here. It was a strong display of staying power over 1m 2f that got Eshaada home in a Newbury listed contest over Gloria Mundi and Twisted Reality who both reapose today. The step up two furlongs looks likely to play to her strengths and with just the two races under her belt there should be more to come, however she will need to step up again to figure here. At the current price of around 11/2 I think she is the value in this race. Eshaada has also won on soft ground.

5:35 – King George V Stakes – Selection: Nagano

This 1m 4f Handicap sees many less exposed 3yo Colts clash with the more battle hardened and exposed 3yo Colts. You could give almost every horse in here some sort of chance. With 19 runners he is going to need some good fortune being a hold up horse but Nagano can go well at an each way price (10/1 at time of writing). The selection has done nothing wrong in his three career races to date. A debut third at Newmarket has been followed by back to back wins at Nottingham & Newcastle. That was at class 5 level but Nagano has got the potential to make a name for himself in a race of this nature. He looks feasibly weighted on his handicap debut and the step up in trip should bring out more improvement in him for a top yard. Soft ground is an unknown though. Another who could go well at a big price is her Majesty’s Just Fine.

Each way advised.

3.40 Ribblesdale Stakes – Fillies’ Group 2 – 3yo Only – 1m 4f…

Gloria Mundai – Galileo X Bufera filly.
Won a Newbury Class 5 Maiden over 1m2 f on race course debut by a nose from Hollywood Lady on April 16th. Stepped up to Listed level on May 15th at Newbury in the Haras De Bouquetet Fillies’ Trial over 1m 2f & narrowly beaten by Eshaaday (Nose), who re opposes today. Up in trip. Trainer (J. Gosden) has won 3 of the last 4 running’s of the race.

5.00 Britannia Stakes – Class 2 – 3yo Only – 1m

Legal Attack – Shalaa X Lauren Louise Colt.
6 career runs, 1 win & 2 runner up spots. All runs on turf & 2 have been in 7f Listed races with one race at this distance. Was beaten a short head by Qaader in a Goodwood 1m Class 2 Conditions Stakes (3yo Only) on April 30th from a mark of 99. The front pair were 3 lengths clear of the rest that day. His last run was at Epsom on June 4th, when finishing a 2 & 3/4 length 2nd in the 7f Listed Surrey Stakes in first time Cheek Pieces behind Mehmento. He runs from 99 today back up in trip & Jockey takes off 3…

That is everything for you today folks, a huge thanks for popping by & for your continued support, we really appreciate it…
