Just like with last weekend, Jamie joins Charlie & Rich.

Charlie will lead, Jamie in the mid section with Rich finishing off proceedings & I would keep reading until the end today too!

Newmarket said goodbye to the Rowley Mile & hello to the July Course, where the going is SOFT….

Charlie –

Newmarket

3.00 Bet365 Trophy (Class 2) Handicap over 1m 6f

Cape Coast (3B)-Had won twice and placed 2nd twice in 2017, the wins came at Pontefract and Ripon with the 2nd places coming at Ascot and Chester. Was then unseen on track until making reappearance on the 22nd June this year at Thirsk, when finishing a 1 and 1/4 length 2nd to Groveman over 1m 4f and 8y. Being out of Cape Cross and Famusa should be making his way to the winners enclosure some time soon, hopefully today’s the day that happens. Currently available at around 10-1 and is advised as an eachway play.

.

3.35 Bet365 Heritage Handicap (Class 2) over 1m 2f

Kipps (Nb) – Has finished 2nd 3 times and won once from 4 starts, the 2nd places have come at Wolverhampton, Haydock and Ascot with the win coming at Lingfield on 2nd career start when beating First Winter by a neck over 1m 2f back in December 2019. Finished 2nd on both starts in 2020, first of those was at Haydock on the 7th June when beaten a nose by Walkonby, was 2nd again at Ascot when beaten a half length by Hukum on the 17th June. If showing up in same mood is taken to gain compensation in this slightly easier race. Biggest threat comes in the shape of Enemy who’s trained by John Gosden.

.

4.10 Tattershall Falmouth Stakes (Group 1) over 1m

Trebelleum (Nap) – One of my horses on our flat horses to follow for 2020. Won at Newmarket on the 20th June when beating Queen Power by 1 and 1/4 lengths over 1m 2f in a Group 2. Was then sent to Ascot for next race on the 16th June when beaten a head by Circus Maximus in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes over 1m. Should run her race once again and is taken to gain compensation in today’s race, biggest danger comes in the shape of stable companion Nazeef who is unbeaten in last 5 starts.

Jamie –

2:25 – Duchess of Cambridge Stakes –
Selection: Time Scale

An interesting looking 2YO Group 2 for the Fillies. Royal Ascot form is put under the microscope, but I am staying away from that form here because I like the look of Time Scale. The champ Oisin Murphy gets the leg up for Ralph Beckett. Time Scale has been busy, making three trips to the racecourse since racing has returned from lockdown.
She made it two from three when impressively winning a listed contest at Newmarket on June 28th . Undoubtedly the favourite Dandalla is going to take some beating here on all known form, however I am optimistic that my selection here can give her a race. She will need to step forward again.

3:35 – Bet365 Handicap –
Selection: Grand Rock

You’re going to be doing well to find the winner of this 10F handicap. There is a couple of horses near the bottom of the weights who look big dangers to my selection here, Grand Rock.
It’s going to be tough giving away 7-9lbs to the market leaders, but I was very taken by how Grand Rock battled on after he was given an overly positive ride in a 10F handicap at Royal Ascot on soft ground. Given a more patient ride and with a drop of rain to soften the ground he will be in the thick of the action late on.
Trainer William Haggas’ yard is in flying form and he could well strike again here at decent odds. French superstar Pierre Charles – Boudet gets on board too so that is
another plus.

4:10 – Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes –
Selection: Terebellum

This looks a very winnable Falmouth Stakes and at the head of the market is Queen Anne runner up Terebellum. At the moment I am struggling to see past her. She brings in much the best form over a mile and seems to still be on the improve with age, as so many of John Gosden’s do.
Terebellum looked to have the Queen Anne sown up at the furlong pole before a brave Circus Maximus fought back to get the nod on the line. The only slight concern I would have is that I don’t see much pace on here and things could get scrappy. Frankie may have to make the pace and fight them all off.

Final Word with Rich –

Just the 2 from me today…..

1.15 Maiden Stakes – Class 3 – 2YO Only – 7f….

Magic Land – Frankel Colt, out of Shamardal Mare, Mistrusting. Started life on the track with a 2nd over 6f on the other course here in a C5 Maiden on June 4th, finishing 1 & 3/4 lengths behind winner Bright Devil & that race has yielded 4 winners including Coventry Stakes winner Nando Parrado. Up in trip

4.10 Falmouth Stakes – Fillies’ Group 1 – 3YO Plus – 1m

Terebellum – Sea the Stars filly, who was beaten by a head from Circus Maximus in the Group 1 1m Queen Mary Stakes at Ascot on June 16th having landed the 1m 2f Group 2 Dahila (Fillies’) Stakes at this course on June 6th by 1 & 1/4 lengths. Dual Group 2 winner. Top rated 116….

That is everything for you today folks…. Remember to keep stakes small & only bet what you can afford to lose….

All the Best – Charlie, Rich & Jamie
