Welcome to Arseonlineracings Royal Ascot coverage. We have reached Day 4 and we are nearly at the finishing line….

Stradivarius!! WHAT A HORSE!! Absolute legend of the sport. 3 Ascot Gold Cups. A world class stayer by Sea the Stars. Brilliant training performance from John Gosden, ride from Frankie Dettori & Bjorn Nielsen deserves so much credit for keeping him in training & not sending off to the stud farm.

I think it’s best to keep it short & sweet so here’s Jonny…… I mean Charlie!

The Going at Ascot is – SOFT

Charlie –

1.50 – Albany Stakes Group 3 for Fillies over 6f

Golden Melody -Won on debut at Haydock on the 7th June beating Star Of Emaraaty by 2 and 1/4 lengths over 6f. Looked nice type and quickened up well when asked, will have learned plenty for the win and should be involved here, although this race seems a bit deeper. The biggest threat comes in the shape of the Aidan O’brien trained Mother Earth who was 2nd to Frenetic on debut at Navan on the 10th June.

2.25 Norfolk Stakes Group 2 over 5f

Eye Of Heaven -Won on debut at Newmarket on the 4th June beating Get It by 3/4 of a length over 5f. Being out of Exceed And Excell x Risen Sun, Eye of Heaven has the ability and the breeding to land a big prize further down the line. Biggest danger is The Lir Jet who won on debut at Yarmouth on the 3rd of June beating Steadman by 2 and 3/4 lengths. I fully expect these 2 to be fighting it out at the finish.

Interesting stat The Lir Jets sire won this race in 2016

3.00 Hardwicke Stakes Group 2 over 1m 3f and 211y

Elarqam -Was 2nd on seasonal return to Lord North at Haydock on the 7th June over 1m 2f and 42y. Lord North won here on Wednesday franking the form. Biggest threat is another Aidan O’brien runner Anthony Van Dyck, who was also 2nd on seasonal return at Newmarket, when going down 2 and 1/2 lengths to Ghaiyyath over 1m 4f in a Group 1.

2:25 – Norfolk Stakes –
Selection: The Lir Jet

As always, the 2yo races at Royal Ascot are hard to figure out. A lot of people will be choosing Eye of Heaven for this race, although I am going to go against him here.
The Oisin Murphy – Qatar Racing axis team up again with the Michael Bell trained The Lir Jet, a son of first season sire Prince of Lir.
He won nicely on debut at Yarmouth on June 3rd by nearly three lengths. It was a nice introduction and he knew his job. There is loads more to come from him and I expect him to at least place. The draw is a negative, but I am quietly confident that he can get over that.

3:00 – Hardwicke Stakes –
Selection: Spanish Mission (E/W) NON RUNNER

I am hoping that the ground dries out a bit for Spanish Mission as I think he is worth an e/w punt in the Hardwicke. David Simcock holds this horse in high regard and he put together a nice campaign in 2019, including beating yesterday’s Gold Cup runner up Nayef Road by four lengths at Newmarket.
A few starts later he captured a nice pot in America in the Jockey Club invitational Derby. Spanish Mission started his 2020 campaign with a below par sixth of nine in a Group Two at Meydan, he was never in it.
However, I am confident he can put that well behind him and figure in the finish here. With his stamina well assured, jockey William Buick could well make use of him. I have a feeling at a big price he can nick a place for his supporters.

3:35 – Commenwealth Cup –
Selection: Pierre Lapin (NAP)

One of the strongest fields in the short history of this 6F Group 1 and there are many in with a good shout. My nap of the week goes to post here in the shape of the unbeaten Pierre Lapin, who comes into the race with a tall reputation.
A half brother to Harry Angel, Pierre Lapin couldn’t have won the Mill Reef at Newbury last year anymore impressively, he strode past them with breath-taking ease. He has
reportedly been working very well at home and with his trainer and jockey Varian and Atzeni in red hot form, all looks set for a big run.
The only question mark is the ground.

Final Word with Rich –

Nice to get another winner on the board yesterday & I have 2 for you today, one is a reverse forecast!!

3.00 Hardwicke Stakes – Group 2 – 4YO Plus – 1m 4f…

Anthony Van Dyke & Elarqam Reverse Forecast –
Last years Derby winner hasn’t won since that day at Epsom and has placed 3 times in his last 5 runs including 2nd in the Irish Derby & was 3rd in the Breeders Cup Turf. He ran 2nd on season return to Ghaiyyath by 2 & 1/2 lengths over this distance on June 5th in the Coronation Cup at Newmarket, with Stradivarius back in 3rd.

While Elarqam has also had a run and was beaten a short head at Haydock on June 7th in the 1m 2f Brigadier Gerard by Lord North, who won the Prince of Wales’ Stakes on Wednesday & now steps up in trip.

3.35 – Commonwealth Cup – Group 1 – 3YO Only – 6f….

Pierre Lapin – Roger Varian’s 3YO Capella Sansevero Colt was 2 from 2 last season having won by 3 & 1/2 lengths on debut in a Haydock 6f Class 4 Novice Stakes in May before being pitched in to Group 2 company at Newbury in September. He landed the 6f Mill Reef by 1 & 1/2 lengths. Off track for 272 days & one of the Arseonlineracing’s TO FOLLOW HORSES….

That is everything for you folks…. Plenty to read on our website & thanks for popping by….

When the FUN stops, STOP…

All the Best – Charlie, Rich & Jamie
