What a start to the National Hunt season for Charlie, landing 2 winners at nice prices, while Rich had a 3rd & a odds on winner. The winter is long but it was a cracking start and we are back with more of the same today….
Charlie covers Chepstow while Rich covers Newmarket….
2.45 – Is quite a tricky race to solve, with most of the field having questions to answer form wise. Speed Company hasn’t been out of the first 3 home in last 4 starts. Was 2nd at York over 1m 4f in July, beaten 1 and 1/4 lengths by Anythingtoday. Was 2nd again on most recent start at Pontefract over 1m 4f on the 7th August when beaten 1 and 1/2 lengths by Qawamees. Highest Sun is the current market leader and has won here back in February this year when beating Casa Tall by 3 and 1/2 lengths. More recently was 17th of 25 in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham in March. Is currently 5lbs higher than that win here and may find this race too hot.
Verdict – Speed Company gets a tentative selection here and is available around the 4-1 price to take the spoils in this race. WINNER
3.20 – Sees a few old favourites clash with Ballyoptic, Lil Rockerfeller, Relentless Dreamer, Drinks Interval and Cloth Cap. Ballyoptic hasn’t been seen since falling at Aintree in April. Relentless Dreamer hasn’t been seen since winning at Cheltenham over 3m 1f back in October last year and is 4lb higher. Lil Rockerfeller has the most recent form in the book with a 3rd place effort at Southwell over 2m 4f in August this year when behind Royal Village and Overtoujay.
Verdict – Lil Rockerfeller has to be the selection here with being the only one with a recent run under the belt and should strip better in today’s race, currently available around the 4-1 price with most bookies. RUNNER UP
5.05 – Is another difficult race to unravel with most having questions to answer, but Theo is the only one who seems to be holding his form, having finished 2nd in last 2 starts. First of those was at Worcester over 2m on the 16th September this year when beaten 3/4 of a length by Sizing Platinum. More recently was 2nd again at Kelso over 2m 1f on the 6th October when going down by 1 length to Mcgroarty.
Verdict – Theo should take this with being the only runner to have held any kind of recent form in this race and is available around 5-1 with most firms. UNPLACED
Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stake small so it doesn’t hurt your pockets. I will now hand you back over to Rich for The Final Word.
