This is our Derby 2019 Head to Head… Charlie, Rich & Jamie all share their selection for the Derby..

Charlie – Madhmoon Kevin Pendergast. Madhmoon made a winning start when landing a Maiden over 1m at Leopardstown on the 16th August 2018, beating Sydney Operahouse by 2 and 3/4 lengths. Returned to Leopardstown on the 15th September 2018 racing over 1m in a Group 2 and won again beating Broome by 2 and 1/2 lengths. Madhmoon faced defeat for the first time when finishing a 1/2 length 2nd to Never No More in a listed race over 7f at Leopardstown on the 6th April this year. Most recently was 4th in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket where the race didn’t go his way. Madhmoon is out of Dawn Approach and Aaraas and has a similar profile as last years winner Masar with both having a prep run in the 2,000 Guineas.  Currently available around 10-1 and should be thereabouts.

Rich –

Humanitarian – John Gosden.

Humanitarian is a Nobel Mission Colt, who was a 2 & 1/2 length runner up on race course debut on September 27th 2018 at Newmarket in a Class 4 1m Maiden behind winner Kick On, who is entered in the French Derby on Sunday & is a Class 1 Listed winner. 3rd was Constantinople of Aidan O’Brien who has since landed the Group 3 Gallinule Stakes, 4th was Classic Trial Winner Bangkok(Also in the field on Saturday). Humanitarian landed a Lingfield(AW) 1m Class 5 Novice Stakes by 5 lengths in November before having the winter off.
Made seasonal return on May 16th at Salisbury in a Class 5 Novice Stakes, when stepping up in trip from 1m to 1m 2f, winning by 3/4’s of a length.
Humanitarian is rated 95 but I believe he can handle the step up in class & trip and could surprise a few people… Currently available around 33/1

Jamie –

Japan – Aidan O’Brien
To tell you the truth all winter I have had this horse down as a Derby
Winner. Japan comes into the Derby on the back of a pleasing run in
the Dante, where I believe he was rushed into making the race.
Whilst he may not even be in the top 3 of Aidan O’Brien’s pecking
order I think he will spring a minor upset… Great jockey on board
too, Wayne Lordan. He looks like a twelve-furlong horse to me all
day long.

Thanks for popping by and we hope this has helped in any way towards the way you were looking…

All the Best – Charlie, Rich & Jamie
