Hello and welcome to arseonlineracing. A 100% independent racing website with NO affiliate links. This website is curated by 2 racing enthusiasts from either end of the British Isles, Charlie hails from Glasgow, while Rich is from the Isle of Wight… Miles apart but united by the sport of kings.

With Charlie away from the blog, I have a free run for a bit! Lets hope I can keep the house in order and don’t burn it down while he is on his break!!

Recap of yesterdays thoughts… Highland Lodge(Won) both Godolphin runners Festival of Ages & Space Blues were unplaced, Royal Star finished runner up, while bonus Somethingaboutjack finished 5th on debut & will be winning in the next couple of starts!

That was yesterday & now we move onto today & boy do we have a very nice card at Newbury, including the Greenham!

The opening race is a Group 3… 1.40… John Porter Stakes… 1m 4f…

Young Rascal only lost one start last season & that was when finishing 7th in the Derby and finished the season dead heating his final race over C&D in the St Simon Group 3. The season started winning his first two starts before the Derby & ended with 2 more wins(Albeit a DH) and Young Rascal is 3 from 3 at this course…

But he meets Defoe, who is also 3 from 3 runs at this course and also has a C&D win to his name. He won on opening run last season and has been gelded during the winter and receives 3Lb from Young Rascal… Which Newbury record ends tomorrow?

The Fillies’ Group 3 is next… 2.10-… Fred Darling Stakes… 3YO Only… 7f..

Dancing Vega was very impressive on her only run last season for Ralf Beckett, winning a Doncaster class 5 maiden over a mile by 4 lengths back in October and makes her seasonal return this afternoon, with her trainer looking to add to his tally of wins in this race…

Aidan O’Brien sends Group 1 placed So Perfect, who steps up from 6f, She also faces a Listed winner Iconic Choice, who won over C&D on final start of last season in the Radley Stakes by 2 & 1/2 lengths…

Along with Group 2 runner up Star Terms, who finished a 1 & 1/2 lengths behind Fleeting in the 1m May Hill Stakes Group 2 at Doncaster before being pipped by a head at Longchamp in the Prix Marcel Boussac Group 1 in October… I am possibly biased but I like Star Terms!

Greenham Stakes… 2.30… Group 3.. 3YO Only… 7f…

With a couple of C&D winners in the field, it would be wise to look at them first…

Boitron landed a Listed C&D win back in August before heading to Longchamp in October and finishing 4th in the Prix Jean-luc Lagardere Group 1 behind Marine One & Broome. Broome has since landed the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes in Ireland last weekend..

The other C&D winner is Mohaater, who won on his final start of last season when taking the Horris Hill Group 3 in October by 1 & 1/2 lengths…

Sadly Magic J is a NON RUNNER

Today’s Tracker

4.00… Gladness Stakes… Group 3… 7f..

Imaging… Was last seen on the race course just 10 days ago when landing a 1m Leopardstown Listed race by 1/2 a length. Was a runner up to Smash Williams on final start of last season by a neck in another Listed contest, who could also figure at the finish while Aidan O’Brien has Le Brivido, who joined from Andre Fabre and makes yard debut after 359 days from the last race course appearance…

4.35.. Alleged Stakes… Group 3… 1m 2f..

Magical makes return to the track… Last seen duelling at Churchill Downs in the breeders Cup turf with Enable and only falling 3/4’s of a length short. A winner at Ascot on Champions Day in the Fillies’ & Mares’ back in October when getting the better of Coronet….

I hope you find my musings useful and appreciate you popping by…

All the Best – Rich
