Next weekend we have the Grand National at Aintree, but this weekend we have the return of the Flat at Doncaster, with the Lincoln along with World Cup Saturday at Meydan, the culmination of the Carnival. All Weather racing from Kempton, with the Magnolia Stakes on the card, so lots of FLAT racing today….

Charlie is taking a day away so it’s just Rich, as always has the Final Word… So lets get them in the stalls and away….

Kempton Racecourse

Final Word with Rich…

Lets hope we can kick off the weekend with a bang and end the month on a real high…

I have Meydan & Kempton for you today, I like to watch the opening of the Flat and then see what happens but this is an exciting time as the 2YO’s will be making debuts and then we have the return of last seasons trackers & the 2019 to Follow flat horses, so I am very excited….

Anyway as I mentioned above, Meydan & the World Cup for me, with the Magnolia Stakes at Kempton on the All Weather, so lets start there before heading to Dubai…

Kempton.. All Weather… Standard…

2.05 Magnolia Stakes… Class 1 Listed… 1m 2f…

Fabricate won this last season and is back to try and retain the crown, while last seasons renewal wasn’t as hot as this, it could be a tough ask for him up against some race fit horses…

Mootasdir is 5 from 5 on the all weather and the Dundalk Diamond Stakes Group 3 winner made a winning seasonal return at Wolverhampton over 1m 4f in a Class 2 Handicap on March the 4th and is looking to make it 6 from 6 but Matterhorn will also be looking to add another all weather victory. Matterhorn is 6 from 7 on the all weather and is stepping up in class after a convincing 5 length win over C&D in a Class 2 Handicap on March 6th…

Meydan… Turf & Dirt… World Cup….

12.50 Gold Cup… Group 2… Turf… 2m…

Cross Counter makes seasonal return today having landed the Melbourne Cup when last seen in November by 1 length from Marmelo, while fellow Godolphin inmate Ispolini is 2 from 3 at the carnival and steps up from 1m 6f after landing the Al Sheba Group 3 by 1 length from Red Galileo…

But the French like this race and Call the Wind, who won the 2m 4f Prix Du Cadran at Longchamp in October is their raider this year. Having had a spin on the all weather at Chantilly, finishing 2nd over 1m 1f by 2 & 1/2 lengths on March 5th and now steps back up in trip…

1.30 Al Quoz Sprint… Group … Turf… 6f…

Blue Point…. Having bled and was withdrawn from the stalls in this race last season, Godolphin will be looking for compensation this year. Having looked fantastic when winning both starts at the carnival this term. Winning the Group 2 5f on seasonal return by 5 lengths before stepping up to 6f over C&D on March 3rd and beating Ekhiyaar by 3 lengths… DANGER… Sands of Mali won on return last season and was last seen in October at Ascot landing the Sprint by 1 length from Harry Angel, seasonal return!

3.20 Dubai Turf… Group 1… 1m 1f…

Dream Castle…. Having been gelded in the off season, he has seeming returned a different proposition with 3 C&D wins from 3 outings this winter. Landed the Singspel Stakes, Group 3 by 1 & 1/2 lengths on seasonal return before making it 2 from 2 with the Al Rashidya on January 24th winning by 3 lengths and made it 3 from 3 when taking the Jebba Hatta, Group 1  from Wootton by 1 & 1/4 lengths….

DANGER… Almond Eye… The Japanese superstar landed the Japan Cup in November by 1 & 3/4 lengths and makes return here, likely to be a red hot favourite….

4.40 Dubai World Cup… Group 1… Dirt… 1m 2f…

North America… Finished last in this race last season with Thunder Snow landing the crown. This season North America is drawn in stall 3 and is likely to attack from there and if getting the rail and leading it could be hard to come from off the pace, having won 2 from 2 this season when beating Kimbear by 9 lengths in the Al Maktoum (Race 1) Challenge Group 3 in January and then a 2 & 1/4 length win in round 2 of the challenge, in a Group 2 last time out on February 7th from New Trails…

Champion Thunder Snow is drawn in stall 12 and was a 9 & 1/2 length runner up to Capezzano, who could well be the challenger, having won 3 from 3 since being fitted with a hood and is drawn in stall 2….

INTERVIEW TRACKER ALERT…. California Daddy for Ger Lyons runs at Navan 4.00

That closes todays blog, we hope you find it useful and help you on a jam packed Saturday… Thank you for popping by and for your continued support..

All the Best – Charlie & Rich
