It was a mixed bag today, with Final Word popping up with a couple of winners & Charlie putting another one in the basket. We continue with Day Two of the Aintree Grand National Festival, as well as the best of the rest including the return of Rich’s Nap, Charlie’s Selections and Final Word… So let’s crack on!

Charlie will take you through his Results from yesterday and then give you his selection’s for a busy Friday….

Cheers Rich, let’s kick things off with a recap of yesterday’s performance.

Charlie’s Results

Grand vision -Fell and was a loss.

Kings Socks -Was pulled up and was a loss.

Getaway Katie Mai -Won as expected advised at 5-2

Head to Head – Charlie V Rich Results

Charlie – Burgonet

Rich – Victory Wave

Rich had the winner Victory Wave and my choice was 2nd landing the fcast between us.

Charlie’s Selections

2.50 Terrefort -Has been fantastic since joining Nicky Henderson and hasn’t been out of the first 3 in 7 races, that’s the best form on offer here and even though steps up in distance here the ground shouldn’t be a problem and I feel this trip will bring out the best in this horse and 7-2 is very generous.

Win Advised

4.05 Kilcrea Vale -Has been a tricky one to get right but has been consistent over this distance without winning, lost a shoe at Kempton when last seen finishing 5th as a result, this horse deserves a bit of luck and does have the ability to land a big race I’m hoping today is that day, although at 20-1 is an Eachway price.

Eachway Advised

4.40 Santini – I tipped Santini at Cheltenham when he was 3rd behind Kilbricken Storm and OK Corral in the Albert Bartlett, that was a testing race and this flatter track should be more suitable and I’m chancing the win here at 2-1 as Henderson is having a good spell at the moment.

Win Advised

Well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will hand you back over to Rich for his Nap and Final Word.

Rich’s Nap – Kempton(AW) – 7.15 – Novice Stakes – Class 4 – 6f

Khamry – The 5 year old Poets Voice Gelding won at this course over 7f on season return by 1 & 1/2 lengths on March 23rd in a class 5 Novice Stakes, having dropped back from the Mile trip on debut. Now drops back another furlong on his 3rd start. Looks a nice prospect for Mr Hamdan Al Maktoum, with retained jockey Jim Crowley on board – 10/3

Final Word –

With the biggest punted steeplechase on the horizon, it is worth noting that it is also Trials day over in Ireland on Saturday, but do not fear, we will have it all covered for you…. Now back to Friday and Aintree….

Global Citizen(2,20) will be looking to add the Grade 1 Novices’ Hurdle to his already growing reputation after landing an all the way Grade 2 at Kempton back in February. Unbeaten since joining Ben Pauling and has been kept fresh with this race in mind….

Elegant Escape(2.50) Finished 3rd in the RSA at Cheltenham behind Presenting Percy and Monalee. That form has been boosted with Al Boum Photo landing the Fairyhouse Gold Cup from Shattered Love and with already being a Grade 2 winner from Newbury in February, can go one better today and add the Grade 1 Midway Novice Chase to his CV.

In the Sefton Novice Hurdle(4.40) OK Corral goes into this race wondering what could have been in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham, when finishing a closing runner up from a long way back. That run followed on from a fine 8 length 2m 5f Novice Hurdle win at Kempton and with form of last six runs reading 1/2/1/2/1/2…….

And finally, I dip my toe into Ireland, Naas to be exact, where Aiden O’Brien has many runners returning, but I like the look of Dermot Weld’s Making Light(3.15) who won on seasonal return at this course over 1m on March 25th, when coming from well off the pace to win the Group 3 Fillies’ Contest, the drop back to 7f in the Gladness Group 3, will not be an issue as Making Light is already a 7F Listed winner on final start of last season.

That is everything today folks, thank you all for your support & popping by. Remember our Grand National Stats are on the site, to help you narrow down the field on Saturday as well as many recent articles for you to have a gander of….

All the Best – Charlie & Rich
