Hello and welcome to Saturday’s edition of arseonlinetips blog. Firstly we would like to thank everyone to the response to our latest article, written by Chris Price – Marsha – The Six Million Guinea Horse. It has been well received and is still available to view online if you have missed it. Secondly, we can reveal that our latest Rising Star Interview is Jonathan Fisher and will be published as usual on Sunday Evening, so please keep a look out for that.
Back to the blog now, you can wait for more news and we have much more pressing issues… So let’s get the housekeeping out of the way first, before we bring you The Peoples Nap Choices, Charlie’s Saturday Selection’s and Final Word. First up
Rich – Peoples Nap Result – Corinthia Knight won the public vote and was a ready 6/5SP winner on the track. Thanks to everyone who voted.
Charlie’s – Friday Results –
Master The World -Was 2nd after missing the break settled at the back before making late headway losing by 1/2 length to Victory Bond.
Nyaleti -Finished a 6th length loser in 6th place after looking like the winner until 1f out when tank emptied.
Baghdad -was a non runner after Bath cancelled 3 races due to standing water on track.
.A bit of a disappointing day from my selections, with the non runner reducing my chances of a winner and a bit of bad luck in running for my final two selections, meaning the day was fruitless. However Rich hit a full house on The People’s Nap with all 3 Choices winning to soften the blow and give us something positive to take from Friday’s racing. We now move on to Saturday’s racing and our thoughts and selections for that can be found below.
Let’s get down to business and start with the PEOPLES NAP Choices –
1.50 – Dubai Gold Cup – Group 2 Class 1 – 2m (Turf)
Vazirabad – Drawn in stall 5, the Grey Manduro gelding is looking for his 3rd win in a row in the Dubai Gold Cup and this season, has followed the same route as last when finishing Runner up on seasonal return at this course, when running over 1m 6f, before stepping back up to 2m. Beaten only 1 & 3/4’s of a length by Rare Rhythm on March 1st. Jockey Christophe Soumilion will be looking for a smart break from the stalls and lie handy before trying to land the win in the final furlong – 9/4
2.30 – UAE Derby – Group 2 – Class 1 – 3YO Only – 1m 1f 110y
Mendelssohn – Aidan O’Brien’s Scat Daddy colt won last season’s Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf and started this season, with a 3/4’s of a length win in Ireland at Dundalk, when landing a Class 1 listed 1m contest. Will improve for the run and if taking to the dirt, should be the one to beat – 9/4
3.05 – AL Quoz Sprint – Group 1 Class 1 – 6F (Turf)
Jungle Cat – Two from two this season at this course after winning on season return in a Group 2 over 7f on February 1st by 3/4’s of length before dropping back to 6F to land the AL Sheba Sprint from Ertijaal over C/D by 2 & 1/4 lengths. That 7F race will stand him in good stead today, with a fast pace likely and Jockey James Doyle knows that his stamina is assured if he wishes to try and go from the front – 5/1
Now I will hand you to Charlie, who will run through his Saturday Selection’s before I will see you again for Final Word, over to you Charlie …
Cloth Of Stars -is a Tracker of mine, Cloth of stars is out of the fantastic Sea The Stars, trained by Andre Fabre, won the Prix Exbury at Saint Cloud back in March last year from Star Victory who was 1 and 1/4 length behind in 2nd. Was then sent to Chantilly and won the Prix d’harcourt beating Mekhtaal by a neck back in April last year. Was then sent to Saint Cloud in May to contest the Prix Ganay and beat Zarak by a neck. Was then sent to Chantilly in September to contest the Qatar Prix foy and was 2nd to Dschingis Secret by 1 and 1/2 length. Was then sent back to Chantilly in October to contest the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and was 2nd to Enable losing by 2 and a 1/2 length. Latest run was in March this year at Chantilly when contesting the Prix Darshaan when again finished 2nd to Talismanic by 1 and 3/4 length. That form looks solid and at 11-4 is a price I’m happy to take for today’s Nap.
Pistol Park -Although hasn’t won since February last year, has ran ok in a couple of races to suggest it’s only a matter of time before pistol park has a bit more luck in running to finally get off the mark, and today’s race is as good a chance to finally get that elusive victory.
Fake News -Won well last time out at Wolverhampton in March this year to take its tally to 2 wins from 4 starts, looks unexposed and more progress looks likely here although the fav Ayutthaya trained by Kevin Ryan looks a nice sort having came 2nd twice before winning at Chester back in September. With the more recent run under its belt Fake News could give the fav something to think about and could be the value against a fav who may need the run.
.well that’s my thoughts on today’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will now hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.
Final Word –
This section was a bit disappointing yesterday, with only Goring running into a place at 10/1 , but I think we were all taken by surprise by the French Invasion at Lingfield. Although I was disappointed , I could hardly be upset, when the other TWO PN Choices won….. That was yesterday and today is another day!
Following the PN Choices from Meydan, I may as well start there as I have a nice Each Way price for Blair House(4.35) Considering he is drawn in the car Park(Stall 15) but has won his last 2 runs over C/D, including the Class 1 Handicap, despite being drawn in stall 10 that day on February 10th and was dropping back from 1m 2f. To follow thatw in up on March 10th over C/D beating Benbatl to land the Jebel Hatta Group 1 by 3/4’s of a length, the 16/1 on offer(Correct at time of writing) are a touch disrespectful and for me, this is a cracking price.. Despite the draw, could very well land a place minimum.
While back in the UK, in fact at Kempton on the AW, a horse I followed last season makes his seasonal appearance in the 3.45 Class 4 Handicap over 1m 4f. Stanley, a Sea The Stars gelding(Yes my favourite flat horse was STS) was placed on both runs prior to landing a C/D maiden from Warm Oasis back in October and now makes handicap debut.
One that missed out on the PN Choices is Sparkalot(4.55) Who is the form horse in the Class 2 Handicap Sprint(6F) with 4 C/D wins to the Bated Breath colts name and having won over C/D just 10 days ago in a Class 4 handicap, he will need to up his game today but has only gone up 4 in the official Ratings and now steps up to Class 2 company for the first time.
And finally, in the evening at Chelmsford, I give another chance to Grandfather Tom(7.15) who really didn’t like the Southwell Fibre sand 10 days ago, finishing last of the 4 runners. I am prepared to put a line through that run and his previous 4 runs, with 3 wins and a runner up spot, we can consider a return to polytrack a plus and still in form.
Thanks for popping by today folks, let’s hope it really is a SUPER SATURDAY to follow the Good Friday….
All the Best – Charlie & Rich
