PN Result(Friday) – Carolinae – Runner up….
I will pass you over to Charlie, who will take you back through yesterday’s results and give you his Saturday Selections. I will catch you for Final Word, on a busy Saturday…. All yours Charlie –
Cheers Rich, let’s start with a recap on Friday’s performance.
Lord County -Was 3rd and therefore a loss.
Ganache -Was also 3rd and another loss.
Storm Ryker -Won as expected advised at 7-1 returned at 9-2
Just the one winner on Friday from my 3 selections but will gladly take that from a difficult days races. Please find Saturday’s selections listed below.
Duke Des Champs -Was a fair 2nd here on comeback from a tendon injury back in December last year, that should have sharpened him up and a chance is taken he can go one better this time around.
Ulis De Vassy -Won late in the day at Southwell when coming from off the pace to land a Class 4 Handicap Chase over 1m 7f has been raised 7lb for that win, but may still have enough scope to repeat that here if using same tactics.
Northandsouth -Won a Class 4 Handicap Hurdle at Lingfield over 2m with Bryony Frost on board last time out, has been raised 5lb but Bryony’s 3lb claim takes care of most of the penalty and another bold display can’t be ruled out here.
.Well that’s my thoughts on Saturday’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will hand you over to Rich for The Final Word.
Final Word –
Firstly we would like to offer our thoughts to Anthony Hunnyball and his team, as well as Mick Appleby, who both have lost stable mates this week. With plenty of cards to go through, I only looked at Lingfield, Newbury and Warwick and with so many small fields and short price favourites, only one get’s a mention here and that is the returning Barters Hill(1.50 Newbury) who was 4th in the Albert Bartlett in 2016 before injuring a tendon and has been absent since, is the best horse in the race and if ready to go wins, if not may just need the run and is one to keep an eye on and let’s hope he can return as good as before.
Another I like on the card is Fergal O’Brien’s Lovely Job(4.10) who since joining the yard and going chasing has form figures of 2/2/f/1/2/1/2/1 and won last time on November 30th by 1 & 1/2 lengths in a Class 3 Chase.
And in the Class 1 Listed Bumper at 4.40, I think Acey Milan, who was a Listed winner over 1m 5f at Cheltenham last time can take the step up to 2m easily and has a nice EW price.
Over at Warwick, apart from the PN Choice(The Dubai Way) only one caught my eye and that was Woolstone One(2.00) who has 2 wins from last 3 runs including at Doncaster in a Class 4 Mares’ Hurdle(2m 3f) by 1 & 1/2 lengths and steps up an extra couple of furlongs and up in class, with a double figure price, could be an EW chance if taking the step up.
Meanwhile back at Lingfield(AW) there’s are a couple that caught my eye, one being My Target(2.55) who won this Class 2 Handicap(1m 1y) last season from a mark of 97 and now runs from 98 and has a 50% SR over C/D with5 wins from 10 runs and finally Bridge Builder(4.35) who was a last time out C/D winner on January 27th, when landing a 6f Class 6 Handicap by 1/2 a length. That was the second win in 3 runs, with a Runner’s UP spot sandwiched in between and now steps up to Class 5.
Well there we have it folks, a jammed packed blog on a Saturday. Please remember Final Word are Rich’s thought’s and are not SELECTION’S .
Only bet what you can afford, if not just watch, as it is a full on Saturday
All the Best – Charlie & Rich
