Sadly yesterday we both drew a blank, with the Peoples Nap finishing 4th…. No PN today but Rich will have the Final Word covering the AW meeting at Wolverhampton. Before that Charlie will take you through yesterdays results and Monday’s Selections …..
Charlie the floor is yours..
Cheers Rich, well after a good day on Saturday we had a right no show across the board on Sunday with all 3 of my selections losing, seeing as today’s the Start of a New Week I thought it was apt to go back to basics hence the name of today’s post. Anyway enough about that let’s get straight down to what I found for Monday’s Races :
Raised On Grazeon -Was a ready winner last time out at Catterick in a Class 4 Novice Hurdle over 1m 7f,she has been raised 7lb for that win but is still lightly enough raced to be in the mix here.
King Uther – Was a tad unlucky last time out when losing action when blundering 2 from home at Uttoxeter latest did really well to finish 3rd, goes up in trip here and again could be thereabouts if jumping cleaner in this race.
Sky Full Of Stars -Won a Class 5 Handicap Chase here over 2m last time out, has gone up 4lb for that win and a repeat can’t be discounted here in this trickier race.
Well that’s my Main 3 out of the way, I will hand you over to Rich for the Final Word.
Final Word –
Rich – Wolverhampton(AW) – Standard
Were start with the 5.10 – Claiming Stakes, which is Class 6 event run over 7f and Letmestopyouthere, who was Runner up last time out at Southwell in a Class 4 Handicap, over 7f, beaten 1 & 3/4 lengths by Zaeem, with 3rd place Lady Perignon having since won and now drops back to Class 6 Claiming with Fran Berry on board, looks to have a decent chance.
While Star Archer(6.10) was last seen finishing 6th to Coronet in the 1m 2f Zetland Stakes(Class 1Listed) at Newmarket in October, makes season return in a Class 5 Novice Stakes over 1m 1f on AW debut and is sure to go off odds on.
Another who is making a seasonal return, AW debut and was last seen in October is Frontiersman(6.40) Often flatters to deceive does the Son of Ouija Board. Having won a Listed race at Newmarket in September went to Newbury in October with high hopes, but finished 6th to Best Solution in the 1m 4f Simon Stakes and now tackles 2m for the first time in this Class 2 Conditions Stakes, which is a Qualifier for the AW Championships in April….. Likely to goof ODDS ON when trying 2m for the first time!
And finally from me, Maratha(7.10) will be looking to put together back to back wins, having finished 3rd to Goring(Since won twice including a Class 2 on Saturday) at Lingfield last month. Maratha won over C/D on December 27th by 2 lengths from Perfect Soldier, in a class 4 handicap over 1m 1f 104y and now raised 5 for that win, steps up to Class 3 company for the first time.
Charlie – Plumpton 3.05 – Morney Wing -Has been a bit up and down form wise although is now 10lb below last winning mark, won here last January and although is below that Mark can take recent 3rd at Haydock as a positive. Was pulled up next time out at Uttoxeter but a line can be drawn through that run and can get involved here wearing cheekpieces again.
That’s everything today Folks
Please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket, if you don’t fancy anything just watch and enjoy your racing.
All the Best- Charlie & Rich
