Thursday’s PN fell and yesterday’s ran a very poor race, but is still very much one to keep onside. The NH season is starting to ramp up a notch or two now, with some stunning meetings and races over the next few weeks, leading up to the King George on Boxing Day, while the AW flat season is also in full swing and fast track qualifier’s nearly most weeks leading towards Finals Day in April…. Enough of my tattle, so let’s crack on!

Peoples Nap Choices

Sandown – Good to Soft

12.40 – Mares’ Handicap Hurdle –  Class 3 – 2m 3f 173y

The Wicket Chicken – Winner of two of three hurdle races contested so far. Was last seen in July at Southwell, winning a Class 4 novice hurdle(2m 4f) by 7 lengths, returns from a break and makes handicap debut – 9/4

1.45 – Henry VIII Novice Chase – Grade 1 Class 1 – 1m 7f 119y

Finian’s Oscar – Unbeaten in two starts in this sphere, landing a Chepstow Listed contest on chase debut before taking the class 2 novice chase at Cheltenham last time out by 2 & 1/4 lengths. A C/D winner last January, when beating Captaine in a Grade 1 Novice Hurdle and only hurdle defeat was to Bacardys (By a short head) at Punchestown last April – 15/8

Wolverhampton(AW) – Standard

7.45 – Conditions Stakes – Class 2 – 2YO Only – 6f 20y

Corinthian has a fantastic AW record, with 3 wins and a runner up spot from 4 AW runs and is a Course winner, over 5f. Runner up spot came at this distance at Kempton(AW) in a Group 3 race back in September. – 7/4

PN Result(Friday) – White Moon – Unplaced

Charlie will now guide you through his thoughts on Saturday and a re cap of Friday, I will catch you for Final Word –

Cheers Rich, let’s kick off with Friday’s results listed below :

Pickamix -Unplaced and was a loss.

Dashing Poet -Non runner stake returned.

Spring Garden –Finished 2nd and was a loss.

Dissapointed with my performance last couple of days, hopefully get back on track with Saturday’s selections listed below.

Vieux Lion Rouge -Won this race last year just holding off Highland Lodge, didn’t stay the distance in the National finding the 4m 2f a bit steep finishing 6th, has finished behind Blacklion on seasonal return at Wetherby, but has form on testing ground and will be more tuned up for this race.

Win Asvised

Brain Power -Was in good form last season when winning several decent races including winning here over course and distance. Made a Winning return at Kempton over fences last time out made all and if repeating that here will be tough to beat.

Win Advised

Sugar Baron -Not the most straight forward of horse’s, seems to have his issues when hanging left at times. Nicky has been patient with him and blinkers replace the cheekpieces worn last time at Cheltenham where he finished 2nd. Hopefully the blinkers and Nico De Boinville combination will spark a better performance this time around.

Win Advised

.Well that’s my thoughts on Saturday’s selections, Good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket. I will hand you back over to Rich for the Final Word.

Final Word

It was a poor day from me yesterday and I have no idea why, maybe I just didn’t look or study hard enough…. but 3 to 4 hours a night isn’t enough?? I have 3 others left from the choices and we shall start at Aintree…..

The Last Samuri (1.30) Had an excellent return to the season, with a smart runner’s up spot over hurdles at Kempton, with that in mind and his experience around Aintree, especially over the National fences, he should run a big race with one eye on The Grand National in April as the obvious target.

Another who has run over National fence is Gas Line Boy(3.10) who finshed 5th in last years National and looked to be on the way to starting the new season with a fine run over C/D before falling in October and can make up for that today.

Back at Sandown ….. Ainchea(12.05) can make a decent start to hurdle life after a runner up spot on NH Flat debut at Cheltenham back in October and connections will be hoping the Brother of One Track Mind can land a solid blow and keep the race out of Nicky Hendersons hands….. I know you will want to know who will win the Tingle Creek(2.55) and all I can say is that personally I think it is Fox Nortons to lose but Politologue will give him something to think about if not on form!

Thanks for popping by folks!

Remember to only bet what you can afford, if not just watch… There are some cracking races!

All The Best – Charlie & Rich
