aviary-image-1499375832514There is a stunning days racing ahead, with the start of the two day Chepstow card(which is the start of the winter NH calendar) & the Future Champions at Newmarket, not to mention NH card at Hexham & the remaining flat cards at York & Cork, while there is also a AW card at Kempton in the evening. Now that’s all sorted, I can pass you to Charlie for his thoughts on a cracking day ahead & a recap of Friday’s runners….. I will see you for Final Word, which is after a NEW feature called Charlie’s Chasers……

Cheers Rich, we will kick things off with a recap on Friday’s selections, so here we go :

I Can Fly – looked a likely winner when hitting the front only to run out of steam in closing stages finishing 3rd and was a loss.

Cote Dazur – led briefly 2f out but was soon outpaced finished a disappointing 11th and was a loss.

Maid Of Milan -Won as expected and will be one to keep an eye on next time out Advised at 13-2 returned at 5-1

Dissapointed with only the one winner from my 3 selections but will take that and move forward to Saturday’s Selections Listed Below :

aviary-image-1507938351852

Perseid -Had modest form over hurdles and has finished 4th in a Class 4 novice chase at Sedgefield over 2m. Has also finished 3rd again at Sedgefield in a Class 4 handicap Chase over 2m 3f. Remains well treated on hurdles form and first win over fences looks within reach and today could be the day to get off the mark.

Win Advised

.

Purcells Bridge -Won at Haydock in a Class 4 handicap Chase over 2m 6f back in March, then was 4th in a Class 3 handicap Chase over 3m at Wetherby in April. Has been rested since and if fully fit could easily take this race as he goes well fresh.

Win Advised

.

Monarchs Glen -Has won twice and placed 2nd from last 5 runs. Latest victory over today’s trip in a Class 1 listed race at Goodwood. Has also placed 2nd at Sandown on previous run over 1m 1f, both of those races came after being gelded and this son of Frankel looks the one to beat here.

Win Advised

.well that’s my thoughts on Saturday’s selections, good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small so it doesn’t hurt your pocket.

Charlie’s Chasers – This is a new feature, where Charlie, will run you through any NH runner’s he couldn’t fit into his main 3 selections(These are so they don’t go to waste & like Final Word, have NO P/L!)

I have a few that didn’t make the selections list today and they are :

Notre Ami in the 1.55 Chepstow has won over 2m 1f at Fontwell and then placed 2nd at Lingfield over 2m. Has been off track for almost a year and makes hurdles debut here and could outrun it’s price of 12-1

Just A Thought in the 2.30 Chepstow won at Ffos Las over 1m 7f in a flat race . Then went to Hereford and won over 2m again on the flat. Latest 3rd at Sandown can be forgiven as it was a Class 1 listed race. Well treated for hurdles debut and could easily take this race at 11-4

Percy Street had a spin on the flat last month at Haydock over 1m 3f and finished 7th, that was a pipe opener in preparation for hurdles season and wouldn’t be surprised if Henderson gets a win from Percy today and 6-1 looks a fair price.

Iv also got a couple at Hexam that didn’t make selections and they are :

Nice And Easy in the 2.15 a 10 length winner on debut at Newcastle over 2m for K Dalgliesh. Goes straight into hurdles race over 2m 4f and 28y today and could easily win here as well and 7-4 is a reasonable price.

And finally Gamain in the 4.35 won at Newton Abbot over 3m 2f in a Class 4 handicap hurdle last time out. Takes a drop in distance here and can get involved again off current mark jock Chester Williams claims 7lb and that makes the task a touch easier and at 4-1 is a fair price based on previous form.

Well that’s my lot that didn’t make selections although they could all run really well and at a nice mix of prices too.

Final Word

As you will notice, it’s a Saturday & there is no Football selections, this is because after an International break, with teams only having 2/3 days together, there could be a few strange results, but be sure they will return…. Possibly during the week but most defiantly NEXT Saturday! Shut Up I hear you say… Get on with it FFS! Ok so here we go…..

With Charlie looking at the start of the NH season, I concentrated on Newmarket & York…. Ghaiyyath(Newmarket 2.25) takes massive step up in grade, from being 3rd on debut at Doncaster to Winning a class 4 maiden over C/D by 5 lengths a couple of weeks ago & could be a nice one for next season. Everybody expects Expert Eye(3.00) to bolt up after the convincing display at Goodwood & I can see why, what’s not to like? But I think, if failing to handle the dip, it could play into the hands of US Navy Flag, who is a course winner over 6f & will no be phased by this step up in trip. While Prestbury Park(4.15) won at Chester in a class 2 & looks to make it TWO on the bounce.

As I mentioned at the end of yesterday’s Final Word, I have submitted 2 selections for Talksport2 Racing Club(DAB 8am-9am) they are –

Coeur De Lion(York 5.00) Fine 2nd to Who Dares Wins in the Cesarewitch trial at Newmarket Last time & will stay all day long.

Swamp Fox(Newmarket 3.40) Won last season’s Irish Cesarewitch & although beaten by Lasgotovegas last time out, is a pretty consistent type, having landed a couple of runner up spots prior to last run, COULD be value EW!

& Finally…. Beer Googles landed a 16/1 win for this part of the blog, not bad for a throw away & YES I was on…. I am usually on ALL what I post on the blog!

Thanks for reading & we hope you beat the bookies!

All the Best – Charlie & Rich
