Tidy day all round for Rich, over to Charlie now with his thoughts on Sunday & a look back on Saturday. We will put our Arc Selections up (Just for team fun) before Final Word……
Cheers Rich, we will kick things off with Saturday’s results :
Lord Of The Rock -Ended up tailed off and was a loss.
Trumps Up -Finished 4th and was a loss.
Caid Du Lin -Finished 3rd and was yet another loss.
Not what I had hoped for with all 3 selections losing, hopefully iv picked the right 3 for Sunday.
Charlie’s Football results
My football bet was looking good going into the final game but Man City and Chelsea only delivered one goal meaning the bet finished 2 goals short.
.Lexington Grace -non runner no replacement.
.Set In Stone – She has won her last 3 races and looked to have plenty in hand last time when beating Invermere by 2 length has been raised 6lbs for that win but jock takes 5lb off meaning it’s only 1 lb higher today.
.Persistent -Won at Kilbeggan over 2m back in June although was poor off higher marks since, although latest 2nd at Tipperary over 2m 4f hints of a return to form and a chance is taken of a return to form in this race.
Arse on line ARC selections(Blog Banter) –
Rich – Order of St George – Since finishing 2nd to Big Orange at Ascot over 2m 3f, Order has won both starts since dropping back to 1m 6f & finished 3rd last season to Found – 9/1 EW
Charlie -Cloth Of Stars – Missed the 2nd half of last year, but came back winning 3 races in succession before picking up an injury that meant missing Ascot. Was 2nd on return to track in the Prix Foy and if fully recovered from that injury could see the son of Sea The Stars enter the equation here at a nice price of 25-1 given Andre Fabre has won this race 7 times.
Final Word –
I posted my Profit/Loss on Rich’s P/L page, with an updated version, including from September 1st 2016 to September 2017 & I am pleased to say, after 3 months of a negative balance I finished with a nice positive +162.75 & the year ending with a final balance of……. + 797.65
What a day Saturday was & now it’s on to Super Sunday(Coining a phrase) anyway, Arc day is a superb occasion in the racing calendar, with so much history(See 3 Furlongs Out blog post for that, we wrote it & has History & Stats for today’s race!) I digress… Chantilly…. Masar, who was 3rd to September in a 7f Listed race at Ascot before winning a Sandown Group 3 by 2 lengths runs in the Grand Criterium(1.45), then we have Order of St George(see Arc Fun) before Marsha takes on Battaash in the L’Abbaye(4.35) looking to retain the race, it is cracking card, with so many top races & fantastic equine superstars on display.
The Reverent(Well, it is Sunday) is looking to add to his debut win at Haydock, when contesting a class 2 at Epsom(2.40).
In Ireland, Tipperary hold a mixed card, with a few nice flat races before the NH card takes over & Morgan(4.00) will look to get the better of Housesofparliment in the Grade 3 Novice Hurdle(2m) after suffering a 5 length defeat 2 runs back, having won the last two & Potters Point(5.05) will also be after revenge when 2nd to Rathviden before winning the Kerry National over 3m last time out in a Grade 3 Novice Chase(2m 4f)
That concludes today’s Blog, enjoy what will be another fantastic days racing, if you cannot afford to lose then just watch……
All the best – Charlie & Rich
