We needed to take a break to do some maintenance on our blog, turn’s out it was a good day to do so, although Saturday didn’t go as we had hoped, a day off has refreshed us & we are now refocused on the week ahead…. Shall we get down to business –
Peoples Nap Choices –
5.55 – Maiden – 2YO Only – 7f
Coat of Arms – Made little impression on debut in May over 7f at Leopardstown, when finishing 10th of 12 runners. 3rd when upped to 1m at the same course by 2 & 1/2 lengths. Two winners from that race & drops back to 7f – 9/2
Ripon – Good
7.45 – Handicap – Class 4 – 3YO Only – 1m 4f 10y
Crushed – Won at Newcastle(AW) over 7f by 1 & 1/2 lengths in a class 4 maiden on final 2YO start. Returned over 1m 2f finishing 2nd, beaten by a neck. While it was a 4 runner contest, the 1st two were over 3 lengths clear of the rest at the finish, steps up in trip again – 6/4
Windsor – Good to Firm
8.35 – Maiden – Class 5 – 3 to 4YO’s – 1m 31y
Big Tour – 5th on debut last November at Kempton(AW) over 6f in a class 5 maiden by 3 lengths. Returned at Haydock when stepping up to 1m, again in a class 5 maiden, finishing 1 & 1/2 lengths 2nd of 4, the front 2, 3 lengths clear of 3rd – 15/8
That’s all from me for the time being, here’s Charlie with his selections & I will see you for my final word –
Had a slight headache getting my selections out today as betref had some technical issues with race card for Ayr. As a result the odds on both my Nap and Nb have shortened from price I took last night. Meaning that value is gone for you guys who follow our blog, I can only apologise as its something I have no control over but doesn’t stop me being annoyed by loss of value for our followers. Lamloon was 5-2 now 7-4 and Sands Chorus was 7-2 now 9-4 hence my being annoyed by loss of value.
Rich’s Final Word –
Saturday’s big race the Coral Eclipse at Sandown, was littered with trials & turbulence from the start, Derby hero Padraig Beggy cutting across & causing interference to two others. That’s where the trouble started, ban’s galore have been handed out & rightly so. Jim Crowley pumping his fist with glee after having lost the ride on Eminent & winning the race for Sir Michael Stoute in that stunning photo finish with Barney Roy. While the photo showed the margin of victory to be less than a nostril. I wonder had Barney Roy had won by the same distance whether the Stewards would have reversed the result due to James Doyle’s over use of the whip? This was his 5th offence in 6 months, while it may not seem a lot, I wonder how many of the previous 4 races he won by fine margins? He now faces a BHA meeting to determine the length of ban. I guess we will never know if the result would have been changed, but it does make you think!
Well that’s another busy blog post with plenty to keep you busy until races start. The People’s Nap vote result will be updated when voting closes. In the meantime please remember to keep stakes small and hopefully end the day with a few winners.
