Fantastic stuff from Charlie yesterday, 2 winners from 3 selection’s was a tidy return, sadly the PN finished 2nd after the Poll leader was a NR, there will be more on that in Rich’s Final Word later. Onto tomorrow’s racing –
Peoples Nap Choices –
Haydock – Good to Firm
3.15 – Old Newton Cup Handicap -Class 2 – 1m 3f 175y
Big Country – Been a massive plus for Michael Appleby since joining the yard, winning 2 AW races. The High Chaparral colt, has gone from strength to strength. Winning a Class 2 at Kempton(AW) before a decent turf debut for trainer, when 4th to Frontiersman in a Newmarket class 2. Won a Class 3 at York last time out by a Neck, is a distance winner from Wolverhampton, while the York race has yielded 3 winners – 7/1
5.30 – Handicap – Class 3 – 1m 2f 100y
Across Dubai – Won a Lingfield(AW) maiden on debut over 7f by 1 length, stepped up to 1m last time out & was a 1 & 2/3 length 2nd to Indian Dandy, on handicap debut on a class 4, steps up in distance & class – 9/4
Sandown – Good to Firm
4.40 – Handicap – Class 4 – 3YO Only – 1m 2f
Frontispiece – Won on debut as 2YO, only start over 7f at Ascot by a nose. Returned with a neck victory over C/D, 2nd has since won a class 3 handicap – 11/8
PN Result(Friday) – Rouseel – 2nd….. No joy
.Miningrocks – Could only manage 3rd and is a loss
.Allography – Won as expected Advised at 4-1
.Cainhoe Star – Won as expected Advised at 9-4
. Two winners from my 3 selections ensured profit for the day, although was a touch unlucky not to get the full house. Hopefully get more of the same with Saturday’s selections listed below.
.Lady Bergamot – Was well beaten on reappearance at Windsor when 8th over 1m 2f back in May. Has since won at Newcastle over same distance and is open to further progress in handicap debut here.
.Standing Rock – Won Newbury Maiden over 1m on the 15th June, Gosden could have a very good Fillie here and Moore in the saddle shows a sign of intent.
.Mershardal – Hasn’t been out the places in last 5 runs. With form reading 31112 and another bold run can’t be ruled out in a similar test to what he has faced so far.
Rich’s Final Word –
Firstly, both Charlie & I would like to pass on our sincere condolences to the Lowery Family, Bradley touched all of us with his Lion heart, big smile & never quit attitude. Our thought’s are with them at this sad time.
Secondly, the Racing Post caused a stir yesterday with their headline, I really hope they use their publication for the good of racing & not just to garner sales, hits or Provocation. Racing needs a good daily paper to stand for all that is good & bad. It needs to do both, not sensationalise with headlines. Debate is healthy, but headlines like that do nothing for the sport, when positivity is needed & racing needs to attract people from all walks of life to the meetings.
& Finally….. There are some Minor RULE changes to the Peoples Nap. After yesterday, the clear leader was a Non Runner, if in future this happens again the Poll will be Void & Non Runner status declared. For this to happen, the Poll leader must have over 50% of the vote!
Well that’s another busy day on the blog with plenty to keep you busy until races start. The People’s Nap Vote Result will be updated when voting closes. We will be updating the layout of the blog over the weekend and any feedback regarding changes will be welcome. All that’s left for me to say is good luck if following and please remember to keep stakes small and hopefully end the day with a few winners…
Thanks again for your continued support…
