Saturday’s Haydock tips
2.05 Ballybolley 5-1 Win
.Has been a bit up and down form wise since October when winning a Class 3 Novice Chase at Huntingdon over 2m 3f , was sent to Sandown next and placed 2nd in a class 1 listed Chase over 3m . Then went to Haydock next and was pulled up over 2m 6f in a class 1 Group 3 hurdle. Next up was a Class 3 Chase at Newcastle over 2m 4f and was placed 3rd .Most recently at Kempton when 4th in a class 2 Chase over 2m 4f . I feel the slight drop in distance here will spark a return to form as he is only 4lb higher than last year when winning this race.
3.15 Midnight Maestro 9-2 Win
.Has been pretty consistent since winning a Class 6 National Hunt Flat race at Doncaster over 2m .Won again next time out at Warwick in a class 4 Novice Hurdle over 2m. Then went to Cheltenham and was 9th in a Class 3 Novice Hurdle. Then went to Wincanton and placed 2nd in a class 3 Novice Hurdle.Won last time out at Stratford in a Class 3 Hurdle over 2m.Has been raised 7lbs for that but should put in another brave show back down in distance to 1m 7f and with Barry Geraghty in the saddle ticks all the right boxes.
4.55 Conquer Gold 5-1 Win
.Has ran 3 decent races on the bounce since December when placing 5th in a Class 4 hurdle at Ayr over 3m . Was 2nd at Kelso in a Class 3 Novice Chase over 2m 7f .Then was 2nd again at Catterick in a Class 3 Handicap Chase over 3m 1f . Won last time out at Bangor in a Class 3 Handicap Chase over 3m. Drops back in trip here and that could bring another victory in this wide open race.
